Can anyone knock Clemson out?

Is Mack Brown good for UNC?

Is Virginia a good team?  Syracuse?  Duke?

Syracuse will be very interesting to watch this year I think.

The UNC Mack Brown experiment and the changes at Georgia Tech merit notice as well.  The North Carolina Tarheels could "be back" with a bit of luck and some help in recruiting, and fewer injuries.

Miami has the new coach obviously and should be worth watching, and one wonders if FSU can find a way to leverage their talent into wins.

I viewed the Coaches Top 25 poll today, and I am a bit shocked that FSU is not in it. In fact FSU has only 4-votes, tying with Appy State for 47th by my count.

One bad season in roughly 40-years doesn't mean the sky is falling.

FSU has recruited pretty well in recent years (and further, but especially recently), so they are not bereft of talent.

I think they could be 9-3 with that schedule, even 10-2 if they turn out to be decent.  At Boston College might be pivotal.

I think good fans know more about the relative strengths of teams than coaches. I suspect coaches know quite a bit about their conference teams, and much less about teams they do not face. CBS has FSU at 86th.  https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/rankings/cbs-sports-ranking/

FSU's offense last year flagged badly averaging just 21.9 ppg. I recall their OL play was pretty bad. I was at the ND game, and the OL did well at protecting the QB at the end of the season, but poorly in rush blocking. I suspect we will see a turnaround on offense. This season FSU hired Kendall Briles as offensive coordinator. He has four top 10 offenses in four seasons at three other universities as OC.

I am looking for a turnaround. They open the season against Boise State in Tallahassee. Other nonconference foes are Florida, Louisiana Monroe, and Alabama State. Some Tough/Some fluff.

I figure nearly all coaches assign this job to some grad assistant, the polling thing.  He works it up and the coach glances at it and say OK, send it.

Maybe on occasion he adjusts it slightly.  Coaches probably have better things to do.
