No worries.
I don't want any of this to be thought of as complaining. All things considered I can't believe how streamlined this has been.
i don't take it as complaining one bit.
believe me, i want this migration and settings thing squared away more than anyone... and, i think we're getting pretty close.
turns out the issue with the quoting wasn't script side at all... last night the techs descended on this place after all the hubbub i raised, and they re-wrote the access file (which is the very first thing a browser parses- it tells it what to allow/disallow, what to run/not run and a few other things)... I had it set to force HTTPS (ssl/secured) and force www as opposed to just the domain name (without www).
funny thing... if those aren't set, google and others see four different pages.. they see an http one, an https, a
http://www and a
https://www.... and it will get you shot down quick like... so, i put a qualifier in there that translates to
https://www so they see only one page instead of four (and demonstrates legitimacy/no spam).... and the techs last night deleted it.
so...
when you hit the 'quote' button, it was looking for a function in the
https://www folder, but you were trying to get there from either a
http://www or a http:// page.... no bueno...
now who the hell would have put that together? seriously- the two aren't related... but here i've sat for the last three hours trying to figure out why some pictures aren't loading, and finally realizing the ones called strictly using
https://www were loading just fine, but the ones w/o strict calls weren't, which made me realize my access file wasn't working right- which made me think of the quote function.... and, i'll be damned... there you have it.
i'm learning as i go, man... this sht is a far cry from toting a rifle, and maybe over this ol' grunts head at times.
