Go Vols
President Harry S. Truman said: “The fundamental basis of this nation’s laws was given to Moses on the Mount.  The fundamental basis of our Bill of Rights comes from the teachings…  If we don't have the proper fundamental moral background, we will finally wind up with a totalitarian government which does not believe in rights for anybody except the state.”

And we won despite the Home Cooking using all four burners, the oven and cranking up the grill.

Much closer than final score indicates.  2 or 3 steals for us in final minute with layups and dunks

This team has got IT. They work and play as a TEAM. uf on their home court had their number, they were getting the calls and seemingly couldn't miss anything they threw up in the 1st half. It was all TN could do to keep it close, but they stayed within striking distance. uf can play some D but their barrage of 3's finally cooled as TN came out in the 2nd half with designs to defend the perimeter better and to attack the post on offense. They closed the gap, took the lead and never surrendered it again.
Coach Barnes called the right plays and his well prepared team executed it well enough to take a hard earned victory away from gainesville. Barnes can definitely make adjustments when needed.....

The word is out amongst TN's future opponents on how to defend and attack us. Deny Williams the post and pressure our point. Problem for them is The Admiral, Alexander, Pons and even Fulky have learned to take up the slack. And with the reemergence of Turner and Bones sharp shooting on the perimeter, they're as much a weapon as the post. Wasn't Admiral's trey the dagger that slayed the lizards LOL...
With one lone exception thus far,  there's been someone has stepped up to help take the pressure off of Williams. TN's only loss came because the team hadn't learned how to win without Williams, they don't have that short coming now....

Funny, I'm still uneasy hearing all the kudo's and praise emanating from the various TV talking heads during the games. I like hearing how the VOLS are one of the 2 best teams in college basketball but hope they, like me takes such talk with a grain of salt. Gotta make it to March to prove they're the best VOLS BBall team ever....perhaps....

the offensive rebounds in the second, especially late, made all the difference in the world.

even in light of the 'home cooking', which there was a tremendous amount of early, IF these guys could break into 50%+ range outside the key they'd have been at least 20 up... They were shooting just fine later in the game, but early on they couldn't buy a three.

Bone, that rascal- when he collects either a steal or gets the drop after a defensive rebound is LIGHTNING fast coast to coast... i've seen it in at least two games, now.  It's almost as if the opponent is accustomed to a certain 'game speed' early, and then Bone ambushes them with that break.  They can't adjust quick enough to stop the score. It was instrumental in the Mizzou win, and it certainly played a role in the UF win.

yeah, the score isn't indicative of how close that game was... the team had 9 fouls with ten minutes left- a few of them questionable (not that there wasn't a foul, but that the calls were holding the Vols to a different standard- this also included traveling... I swear a UF drive to the basket started two paces after half court and the kid never dribbled again on one play- he was fouled in that case but it should never have made it that far)... it almost seemed like Barnes grasped what was happening with the UF chef's, and decided to play 'close' up until 2 minutes, and then ripping one off afterward...

it was a very good win.
