Two years ago it was a November meeting in the NIT Season Tip-Off title game, a six-point overtime loss at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Last year it was a six-point loss in regulation on the road at Allen Fieldhouse.

Now Tennessee and Kansas are set for a third meeting in as many seasons, after the SEC on Wednesday morning announced matchups for the annual SEC/Big 12 Challenge, with the Vols hosting the Jayhawks on January 30 at Thompson-Boling Arena. During a Zoom call with reporters, Rick Barnes said he loved the opportunity for a rematch, he just wishes it was happening in a better situation.

No, Barnes doesn’t know how many fans will be allowed at Tennessee basketball home games this season. And no, the Vols haven’t even finalized a schedule, either non-conference or conference games, outside of the game against Kansas.

Barnes said the Wisconsin and Memphis games originally scheduled for this season, in November and December, respectively, won’t get played. Both Tennessee and Memphis agreed to push back their neutral-site game at Brigestone Arena in Nashville to the 2021-22 season, in hopes of playing in front of a full crowd, according to a UT spokesperson. The Vols are working with Gonzaga to find a new date and location for their Jimmy V Classic game, originally scheduled for December 8 at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

President Harry S. Truman said: “The fundamental basis of this nation’s laws was given to Moses on the Mount.  The fundamental basis of our Bill of Rights comes from the teachings…  If we don't have the proper fundamental moral background, we will finally wind up with a totalitarian government which does not believe in rights for anybody except the state.”
