We don't have time to get all the jambalaya, pots of etouffee, brisket and ribs, etc. ready for an 11:00 a.m. kickoff. We don't even get up from the Friday night hangover til noon.
I almost got to go to a game at Neyland when I was a kid and my dad was living in Knoxville for a time. Still haven't been. LSU is a great tailgating scene and everybody should take in a game there at some point. What you want to do is wander from tent to tent and tell the people there that you've never been to an LSU game and you've heard the food is better here than other places and you're not sure that you believe that, because the food is really good at the other places you've been. They'll leap into action and stuff you full of the best they have to offer, trying to impress you with their culinary art. If that doesn't do the trick for you, or you're just greedy and gluttonous, just move on to the next tent and repeat the process.
Oh, and there's a stadium there, where teams will be playing a football game, if that sort of things interests you.
