I would be pretty happy with 10-2 for the Dawgs, myself.  They look to have their best team in the Kirby era, but they play on the road at Texas/Bama/Ole Miss and Clemson in ATL (which is sort of on the road).  Maybe they meet again in ATL with Texas, which would be fine with me.  I don't know how the tie breakers work.

Realizing OU never had to play in DKR and the Horns didn't have to play in Norman, what's the toughest annual venue the newbs had to face?

There's probably 8-10 tougher places they'll have to play in now.

Is Alabama tough?  'Cause the Horns beat the 2023 SEC Champion Tide by double digits in Tuscaloosa around 10 months ago.

Cool.

Here, we don't hold the sample size of one over the larger trend.  Answer the question.

A hostile stadium is a thing even if the visiting team wins there on occasion or even fairly often.  I recall ftbobs once ran a calculation however that said the SEC had the LOWEST home field advantage of any of the P5 leagues.  My "explanation" was that teams get used to the high noise levels and it matters less, even if it means more.

There are a lot more loud venues in the SEC than Texas/OU had in the past.  I don't think it will be some massive factor.  It MIGHT be a thing in year one, but they dodge most of the louder places other than A&M, which they are somewhat used to.

Arkansas is not known for being that loud.  Vandy will only be loud due to Texas fans.   They only have three SEC road games!!!

They should win all three handily.

Texas has a manageable schedule, in comparison to some.

At Michigan
Oklahoma
At A&M
Georgia

I don't see another likely loss anywhere, and if they split those four, 10-2.  If one of those two is at Michigan, they probably play again in ATL.

I hope we're both playing for something, for the first time in forever, come this November.

Sure, it's a tough place to play.  Texas probably has a losing record in Nashville.

Loud SEC Stadia, in my opinion:

LSU
Tennessee
Auburn
Florida
Alabama

Georgia

South Carolina

Honestly and disappointingly, Kyle Field has not been a tough place for top opponents to win in for a long, long time.  But during that time, A&M just really hasn't been that good, for more than 1-2 seasons.

South Carolina hasn't been very good either for a while, but that stadium can get loud if they are competitive on a given Saturday.  Auburn has also been a few years from being good, but they can put up a fight at home (ask UGA and Bama).

It certainly matters if the game is important of course.

Is South Carolina regularly beating opponents they shouldn't?  I'm not trying to be snarky, I genuinely don't know because I've never followed SEC football that closely.

They have upset UGA more times than I'd like to recall, but one of those upsets was in Athens (against a good UGA team that turned the ball over a lot that day).

They knocked Tennessee and then Clemson out of the playoffs last year.  The crowd there can get loud.

I'm always worried when the Dawgs go to Columbia (one of them).
