For us, the November stretch is:

Alabama
Texas
@Tennessee
@Arkansas

I'm counting Arkansas as a win.  At least, we should, and there's no reason not to, even on the road.

The rest are loseable, but winnable as well.  If I had to guess, @Tennessee will be a L because we've already shown we can't keep it together on the road at Ole Miss and at Kentucky.  Tennessee also has enough talent that they don't need to count on LSU imploding on the road, they're capable of beating LSU with no luck or help.

Alabama is in LSU's heads, whether or not LSU should win that game, they usually don't.  And Texas just has too much talent....they look like the most talented team in the country to me, and when they play well, I don't think they can be beat.  The question is will they play well....they certainly may not, but I suspect they're going to give us their best game, and that ain't good.

But I also don't think LSU loses all three, just from a general statistical perspective, LSU "seems" better than a 1-3 team in any given stretch.  I don't know where it will come from, but I think LSU snags one from probably either Alabama or Texas at home to go along with @Arkansas for a 2-2 run, ending 8-4.

If the guards could manage to look like they belonged in the SEC, that would go a long way toward changing that for the positive.  Center and tackle play have been good.  The guards are still a work in progress.  I don't know if it's a talent thing or it's the ongoing result of mashing together 60+ new guys when OL is a unit that needs time and cohesion above all else.  We'll see how they do against Alabama.  They've had a week off to self-scout and maybe fix some things if indeed things are fixable.  Will be interesting.  I think we're good enough that we're going to make everybody work for it, even if we don't pull it out.

Horns gonna lose in Baton Rouge.  I already told you that.

It'll really suck after losing in Columbia this week.

Should beat the pigs and the ags though.  8-4 here we come.

They might, but I think LSU will need Texas to do what Texas is prone to doing, and fall asleep for a half.

LSU is a good, and talented team.  But Texas players look elite, physically.  When they're on, there's more NFL talent there than it looks like we have.

The main two WRs, Coleman and Wingo (I think?) are freaks.  The two starting corners are as well.  LSU isn't going to have seen anything like them before they tangle with that.  And that's not even getting to the lines.  I think LSU's DL can play well against UT's OL, but UT's DL has a real shot of manhandling LSU's OL, as far as what we've seen so far.

Anyway, that's a week away.  Gotta see what we got for the Gumps first.  If Kiffin is really changing the culture, LSU needs to not snatch defeat from the jaws of victory as so many previous Tiger teams have found a way to do.

tx' inj report is full of stars. i assume they have depth & probably at least half those 'questionable' dudes suit up but still.

regardless, idk how we're going to score. we aren't just going to run it on them like others & wear them out. simmons is an nfl talent that chip lindsey is wasting due to his incompetence as a play caller.

our run defense is pretty good but our secondary can be had. we have no one capable of covering wingo/coleman quite frankly. which version of arch we get & for how long is anybody's guess. he's capable of carving us up & ****ing down his leg. perhaps some of each.

i do agree they probably lose to lsu. i don't agree that they lose to us although it's possible.

Wishing Bama @ LSU kicked off a little later to get a true night game in Death Valley. Either way, this is the game I'm most looking forward to this coming weekend. You know Death Valley will be rocking for this one, and I'm counting on LSU to start the game more motivated than Bama.

Bama has been slumping, with shockingly poor output from their offense @ Tennessee, amassing less than 200 total yards. After such an a limp showing, it's surprising to see Bama ranked as high as #5 in the first College Football Playoff Rankings. And @LSU is not the place to try to recover from a slump.

Never underestimate LSU's ability to crap the bed with Alabama.

I still have a hard time knowing what LSU is.  There have been some very impressive performances and statistics to point to.  But they also fell short against Ole Miss.  They crapped the bed, multiple times, against Kentucky.  What are the impressive wins?  A&M felt good at the time, but it's pretty clear now that's not a good team.  Mississippi State was viewed as a good win at the time, but MSU was already without Kamario Taylor and they didn't even have Fluff Bothwell for that game either.  It's pretty well understood now that MSU without them is a pretty poor team.  Auburn had the feeling of something impressive, but that's really just because it came on the heels of Auburn knocking off UGA.  That is a clear outlier, and Auburn is also not a good team.

I mean, really, the best thing LSU can point to is probably throttling Clemson, who is only okay.

What does that mean for Alabama?  No idea.  Alabama has some chinks in the armor this year for sure, but I'm not sure if LSU is playing better lately so much as they've just been playing bad teams.

One thing I am hoping this tells me is if the DNA of a program can change with a new coaching staff and dozens and dozens of transfer players.  In the old world, those things change gradually, and there is a discernible culture to a team, for better and for worse.  If--win or lose--LSU plays crisp and seems to treat this like the next game, rather than OMG I REALLY REALLY REALLY WANNA BEAT ALABAMA OH NO I'M SO EXCITED THAT I SCREWED IT UP, then maybe it means there's less of a norm to predict this team.

If it hasn't changed, there's a 75% chance LSU will find a way to screw it up, even if they appear to be a better team.
