Week 1 Overreactions

Maybe just blurb about your team or what you saw.

Florida's offense was kind of 'meh' for a quarter and a half.  Our kicker missed two 40-yarders between a 56 yard make.
The opponent was like NAIA-level, so there was a weird combo feeling of "don't get any injuries + every play should be a 30-yard gain" that led to the sluggish start.

Lots of backups and third-stringers played a lot.  The unknown backup looked comfortable and confident, which is good.  He's almost assuredly going to pay against big-boy teams.

The defense looks awesome, holding the high school team to negative yards in large swaths of the game.

I'm curious about Tennessee, as I didn't see any of their game.

We can all rejoice at Bama's shitting of the bed.

UTSA was still in the game (vs A&M ) late in the 3rd quarter.  From what I saw, they were getting yards on our defense.  We couldn't stop them in the first half.  We looked sloppy on both offense and defense.

Aguilar looks like a fit, and huge upgrade over Nico. Not scared.  Will cost us sometimes, but more big plays hopefully offset the mistakes.

3 headed monster at RB. Running game doesn’t look to be missing a beat without Sampson.

O-Line was strong, even missing starters and shuffling bodies.  4 new starters.

D-Line not near as strong or deep as last year.  A few DT’s banged up in the game as well. One season ending injury anticipated making them thinner.

Edge rushers, Josh Joseph’s in particular, looks like Pearce’s replacement.  Pressure generated all day.  Team had 5 sacks, but I think 3 were from LBs.

LB’s and DB’s performed well.  Thank you Deion for Colton Hood.

Will be better on offense this year, but looks like a step taken back on defense due to depth on the DL.

We beat Alabama!

A&M... :57:

1st game for a squad of 50 transfers, defense was soft the 1st quarter and allowed 7 year senior QB Cornelious Brown to move them down the field for AA&M's only score.

Remember the name O'Mega Blake, that young man is a baller.

Two things to note, ball security was excellent with only 1 fumble that was immediately recovered by the RB and only 20 yards in penalties. Hopefully the Hogs shotinfootitis is cured...

Texas sucked it up.  Arch is either hurt, or terrible.  Maybe both.

Offensive playcalling continues to be a crapshoot, redzone playcalling continues to be terrible, redzone execution continues to be terrible, and Sarkisian continues his dumbassery of not taking field goals and instead gambling away any potential at winning.

Texas is 0-4 in the past 11 months against the elite teams they've played.  Many other teams would go 0-4 in those same games so overall it's not the worst thing in the world, but it does indicate that Texas continues to be a tier below the best.  That's not just a today thing, that's a 3-season long trend.

Horn defense should be okay.

Truth is the season will go as the QB goes.  If Arch had had a good game then I believe Texas wins.  Heck if Arch had just had an average game, then it's quite possible Texas wins.

I'm hoping he's not injured and it was just nerves or something.  And then I'm hoping he can get past those nerves because there's plenty of talented teams in the SEC ready to eat him up.

As for the continued struggles with Sark's offense in the redzone, I'm not sure anything can be done.  There's 4+ years of data now to confirm that this is who he is, and nothing's going to change.
