And before any Tennessee fans come calling, that Pitt team ya'll lost to just lost to Western Michigan.
There is a very low likelihood of this happening.

Alabama has defensive glitches, but they did early last year too and ultimately got it sorted.  I'll believe they stay this way when I see it.  From what I saw the bigger concern for this Alabama team is this QB doesn't look to be on par with the last couple they've had.

That may be true but the only reason Bama is 3 - 0 is because of qb play. There are far larger problems than qb play.

Yeah, which position group performed better than Bryce Young?  The RBs didn't perform.  The OL didnt block.  The DL got tired and run on.  Anderson was a bright spot.  The DBs did well.
Young at QB was a strength.

I agree with you that Alabama overall played a miserable game. Young didn't really have a great game but he played well enough to put 31 points on the board. Several dropped passes didn't help.

Maybe if Florida played great in the comeback....but no, for the Gators to play that imperfectly and still almost win....
.

Hey I totally get why you want to tiptoe around it and try not to offend the football gods.

The thing is, Nick's deal with the devil supersedes the football gods.  They're golden.  No worries at all!

I'm beginning to think no team is who I thought they were.

I guess that's why they play the games... :)

LSU obviously is worse than I thought.  I was not very high on A&M.  Is Tenn worse than I thought?  Not really.  Mizzou might be a bit worse, but I had them around UK and they lost close, no biggee.  I thought Arky was improving to pretty solid.

Florida may be an "up and down" team able to upset someone (I hope not) and then lose to "UK".

Mizzou is probably worse some than I thought, A&M and Arky confirmed what I thought, LSU might get to 7 wins, they could beat Auburn, UK, and ULM to get to 6.  I didn't think Auburn was much and they showed it by almost pulling a Tennessee.  Florida looks pretty decent but not quite a powerhouse, about as expected I think.  Vandy is really awful.

Vandy being awful is an easy one.  But Kentucky is surprisingly bad compared to preseason expectations.
A&M simply wasn't prepared to lose its QB.  It's been 2.5 games now, and they're still lost.
LSU is still who we thought they were after the UCLA loss.  The got up big on MSU and barely won.

While the game was close in the first half, I'm surprised that Florida came out looking normal.  If not for a late-half fumble, they'd have been up 10 at the half.  Emory Jones is the starting QB for a reason.  People forget he just made his 4th start ever.

The defense is improving game by game, but I don't think it's going to matter.  The main problem is LSU can't run the ball.  With a more "LSU" run game, this team would probably be good for 8-9 wins.  As it is, I'm still holding my breath to see if they can get to 7 wins.  It was the biggest problem of the UCLA loss, why they couldn't close out MSU strong, and why the McNeese win was still so god-awful.

The reason I don't think it will get better is because it's not just one thing.  If you have one thing to work on, sometimes that gets better in a season.  The line gets no push, they don't set the edge well, they still get confused sometimes on who's trying to get out on who on run plays, the QB isn't great at knowing when to keep and when to give on the RPO's, and the backs--as a group--have the worst vision I recall seeing in a tiger backfield.  I've lost count of the times a back has missed the crease and instead run into a wall on the unusual occasion the line gives him something to work with.  That's too many problems to get fixed.

The team has other issues, but that's by far the most important.

For reference on how miserable LSU's run game is, LSU through 4 games, including 2 cupcakes:

2.86 overall average ypc, including 2.33 vs. MSU and 1.92 vs. UCLA.  Best average was 3.5 vs. Central Mich.  That ain't gonna cut it.  LSU has never been this inept in the run game in my lifetime, not even in the dismal 90's.  (Actually the run game was not the problem in the 90's.)

You never had to worry about that with Saban or Miles.  However fiasco'd the QB situation got--and both had some awful QB years--you could count on them to secure a lead at the end of a game and play keep-away from the high octane offenses enough to combine with defense and usually win.  This team has to live and die by the arm and the decision-making of its QB, and he's a year away, assuming his line ever figures out how to keep him upright.

2.86 ypc, btw, is last in the SEC and 124th in the FBS.

Florida is averaging 7.5 still, having played Bama.

Nobody yet is a real shocker for me, maybe LSU is close, I just saw the preseason rankings and thought "OK they must be pretty good" without doing my own work, or reading more here.

I didn't expect UK to be a world beater of course, I thought they'd often be a bit of a tough out.  They are 4-0, but close wins over mediocre at best teams doesn't look good.  They 2-3-4 losses on their slate to come, they could finish 9-3 and be so so.
