LSU learned it could clean house in record time and throw out everybody from the administration when Wade was originally hired and everybody from the administration when he was originally fired.  The people who brought him in are not the people who brought him in the first time, or dismissed him.

Wade learned that what he got in trouble for back then is standard fare these days.

Neither party recommends itself in a particularly good light here, imo.  Neither does either party look particularly slimy, imo.

Meh.

LSU may want to go a few months with keeping out of the headlines, regardless....

I'm confused.

You just outlined the reasons LSU would hire Wade back and the reasons Wade would come back, and then end by saying both parties haven't learned anything.

The opposite of shamelessness is decency. Neither party learned anything in the way of decency. It's too much to ask anyway, especially of Will Wade.

At least with LSU it can be defended that the rules are different now and they're providing for a redemption arch.

But Will Wade has no excuse for returning to the scene of his crimes. Not after recreating the famous Jim Valvano photo to introduce himself to NC State only to bail the first time more cash is waved at his g-string.

Slimy? Yes, but not more so than the SEC's front-runner for slimy: Alabama's Nate Oats.

I mean, kids transfer schools every year.  It's one of the reasons I care less and less for college sports....these aren't our kids.  They're this year's kids, and for the other 2-3 years of their college career, they're somebody else's kids.

It's odd to get bent out of shape if coaches change jobs too.

Coaching is one of the few jobs where anybody would even suggest you stay put even when a better job for more money tries to hire you.  Staying put could be defended for relational and loyalty reasons in the old days.  Unfortunately, we're well past that, and singling out Wade/LSU is just silly.

I'm obviously not saying I like it, but acting like their character is lesser than everybody else out there is wrongheaded.  They're just functioning in the context of what college sports are now, and they're not the only ones.
