I can't tell if
A) the texas ol is that bad
B) they just had a bad game
C) uga dl is that good
D) they played out of their minds
E) some combination of the above

But that was atrocious.

I couldn't see down the field.  On downs Quinn held the ball so long, I couldn't tell if the coverage was that good or if he just couldn't find his guys.
Lotta receivers running open.  Protection wasn't great but Quinn seemed to have a really hard time stepping up into the pocket and finding his receivers.  He had a very, very, very bad day.  Definitely doesn't seem anywhere close to what he was before the injury, and that was true even last week against OU.  The Sooners are just a really bad football team this year so it didn't matter as much.

Here's an example of what I'm talking about, it's one of several times this happened.  There is a clean, open pocket, and Kelvin Banks the NFL-draft-1st-round left tackle has taken on the rusher and drawn him deep, continuing to maintain that clean pocket.  All Ewers has to do is step up into the pocket and either make a throw, or throw it away.  There's absolutely no need to take a sack there, and at the end of the play you can see that Banks is visibly frustrated with the unnecessary outcome, throwing up his hands at the sack.

If Ewers is either still injured, or mentally broken, then yes.

Pre-injury he was our best option by a decent amount.  Arch isn't ready to be the starter at this level, yet.

But right now, neither is Ewers.

I've seen that show before.  The backup QB is often the most popular guy in the stadium, until you put him in and everybody realizes the problems are more than just the QB, and maybe a guy who will be great in time and has excelled against subpar competition won't do much better against a really good defense.

Speaking of.....why did ESPN keep flashing on the ticker screen that Manning threw a TD pass when replacing Ewers?  I'm fairly certain he didn't.

I sincerely hope he bounces back to pre-injury form.  At the end of last year and the beginning of this year, he was playing very good football.

It was played at Fair Park Stadium, the predecessor to the Cotton Bowl.  The following year, Texas and OU would sign a contract to meet there every year, which has lasted to this day.

That must be the wooden Fair Park Stadium that was predecessor to the Fair Park Stadium that was built in 1930 and renamed the Cotton Bowl in 1936.
Looks like Fair Park has expanded to the NE since that picture was taken.

Its hard enough to beat Vandy alone but almost impossible to also have to beat the Refs

Penalties called

Vandy 4 for 35 yards

Texas 10 for 108 yards

It was the highest for Texas this year and one of the lowest for Vandy

After learning to respect the Vandy QB on the first drive, the Texas defense didn't give up much the rest of the way. Vandy got 17 points on like 90 yards of offense. They definitely bunched their fortunes into groups.
The Texas offensive line needs to start the bye week with name tags. Get together over donuts or something and introduce themselves to each other. This isn't the sale OL we started the season with, but still it is. They seem to be playing an unfamiliar game with no concentration on fundamentals. Two weeks of drill could clear it up. If so, Texas is a very formidable force. If not, the cheese will quickly slide off the cracker.
Quinn looks like he's seeing the right things, but not trusting that he is. He had better form this week than against OU (can't judge too much from UGA - there weren't many opportunities). He just wouldn't let the tricky ball go. Whatever balm Sark has to cure self-doubt, it's time to order a double dose.

Vernon Broughton cost the gamblers money. I was afraid the Roughing call was for the innocuous head slap on the rush. Alas, it was for a clear and very unnecessary late targeting penalty. That pick would have changed the 27-24 game to a 34-17 one.
