At one point, there was an inappropriate relationship. I don't think that really affected his job prospect much, though.

Yup.  Whether his fault or not, the teams he's been involved coaching, just haven't performed all that well. He'll always be one of my favorite Texas QBs and I certainly wish him well.

2025 SEC football schedules are out.  Same as 2024 schedules but with home/away reversed.

They're sticking with the 8-game conference schedule which is disappointing but not surprising.  The SEC isn't going to give 9 conference games to ESPN without making them pay extra for it.

I wonder how much, if any, money did the LHN lose ESPN over it's run?  I heard it was a big money loser, but I was never sure if that was hype or not.  I think the LHN was conceived at a different time when cable ruled and streaming was in it's infancy.

Yep. Disappointing.

But, hey! It just means more!
So much more that we'll play fewer conference games.

The thing is "big money" means something different to the ESPN/ABC/Disney complex than it would to, well, just about anyone else. It certainly didn't make anything back off carriage fees. It had the misfortune of attempting a bold move in the cable-verse just as the cable-verse was beginning its collapse. If anything, it gave ESPN a sandbox to play in, to attempt and test broadcasting formats that may or may not work elsewhere.
I can't show you the math, but there's a likely possibility that LHN was a loss leader that kept the Big 12 together and enabled ESPN/ABC to defend that investment as well as give them a foothold in subsequent conference negotiations.

Anything they spent on the LHN was a corporate rounding error.

Yup.  The LHN was Disney's move to keep Texas in the B12 and out of the PAC and B1G while they were figuring out their next moves.  I've said since 2011 that it was always obvious that Texas to the SEC would be the next logical step but neither party was quite ready for it in 2011.

By 2021, with payouts to the B1G and SEC starting to approach double what Texas would make in the B12, it was obvious that remaining in the B12 would become a highly uncompetitive prospect for Texas.

Hmmm...I don't know about that.  Rounding error or not, ESPN had to make a lot of cuts over the last few years.  Reducing head count etc.  https://www.cnn.com/2023/06/30/media/espn-layoffs/index.html

I recall the LHN being a major bone of contention among other Big 12 schools.

Once again prior to the LHN the Big 12 voted not to pursue a conference network which UT wanted but several other schools were against

When that happened it opened the door for ESPNs LHN proposal
