Texas "should" beat Clemson handily, at home, they "should" manhandle them in both lines and "should" run for a zillion hards.  The Clemson QB "Klubnick" is not very competent IMHO, you could pretty much stack the box and force him to make throws.  That said, UGA only led 6-0 at the half, which was a portent.

Georgia 34-3 Clemson (Aug 31, 2024) Game Recap - ESPN

Leading only 6-0 at halftime, Georgia finally got its offense rolling in the third quarter with a pair of 75-yard touchdown drives, capped by Colbie Young's 7-yard reception and Nate Frazier's 1-yard run. Beck tacked on a 40-yard TD pass to London Humphreys that sent the Clemson side of Mercedes-Benz Stadium heading for the exits.

I guess we'll see whether or not Texas left its shotgun in Atlanta, and won't be able to blast numerous holes in its own feet.  Not having SEC refs call the game will be a tremendous advantage for Texas, so that's nice.

Looks like Georgias QB is out for the season
They won't let me give blood anymore. The burnt orange color scares the hell out of the doctors.

Some Dawg fans on FB are celebrating, a thing I cannot understand.  Several are claiming they wanted Stockton to play all along.  They have short memories, Beck looked like a really good QB last season when he had Bowers and McConkey.  And I do think Beck was forcing throws at times.

Stockton does have a really good first name.

I'm just glad Stockton apparently survived with no ill effects. When he was hit, he looked like a heavyweight suffering a flash knockout. His leg buckled and went slack over that right knee.
I'm seeing UGA's punter is also lost with a leg injury requiring surgery. Rough.

Yeah I was worried about Stockton as well, glad he seems to be okay.

Looks like Texas is favored by around 11 over Clemson.  But Clemson is a trendy upset pick for many of the mediots.

When the CFP ranked the teams, they ranked Texas #3 and Clemson #16. They got promoted to #12 because the ACC champion is guaranteed a spot. In reality, Texas starts off with the lowest ranked team in the tournament. Should Texas win that game, they progress to the 2nd lowest ranked team in the tourney (ASU ranked #12, promoted to #4 since the top 4 champs got byes).

Texas hasn't been a consistent enough performer on offense for me to make bold predictions. However, they'll play game 1 at home, game 2 in the stadium they just left, and game 3 at JerryWorld. Defense travels.

In contrast, had they won the SECCCG, they'd be waiting until January to play a game against the #5 or #8 seed in New Orleans.

Yeah overall it's a favorable draw, although statistically playing an extra game is more dangerous than getting a bye, despite the "low level of risk" that first game might possess.

I'm confident in the defense to keep Texas in any and every game the Horns might play.  It'll be up to the offense to actually win them.  We'll see...

I concur, their defense will keep things close almost without exception.  Then the offense needs to avoid mistakes (!!!) and play smart and RTDB.

I suspect they can run on Clemson, but then, I thought they would run on the Dawgs.  With their vaunted RB and OL, one would think they would win running 80% of the time.

Which vaunted Texas running back are you talking about?  We lost 3 of our top 4 RBs to season-ending injuries, before the season ever started.  The three we've been going with all season were 3-5-6 on the depth chart.  One of them fumbles way too much, one of them can't pass protect at all, and the last one both fumbles too much and can't pass protect.

Well, other than that, he's vaunted, but no one would be the wisner.

Ha!

Well, Wisner can run pretty well on a good day.  I think he'll improve over time. I hope so, anyway. Basically our running game was pretty much done before the season started though, when CJ Baxter went out.  It's been a patchwork RB room all season long.

Quintrevion Wisner does have a great first name though, for sure.  Sounds like a character from Battlestar Galactica.

The Dawgs have been down multiple RBs as well.  Getting Etienne back was clearly a game saver against Texas.  The two Robinsons were supposed to contribute.

Cash Jones is a former walk on who played a lot, he's idea for pass pro and catching swings.  Nate Frazier is a TrFr who is a solid runner not good in pass pro yet.  I think without Etienne they lose to Texas.

Teams sign these 5 star RBs and then ...  they get hurt, often it seems.  Even Herschel missed some time, he had his hand broken preseason, the Vandy coach said "What scares me is they have anyone who could hurt him."
