You’re right, I didn’t realize LSU had won that many games against Satan and Bama. I just remember how happy the outcome was for LSU. I remember big hype about the game and LSU winning 9-6. At the time Alabama’s tide was seen as rising and LSUs was seen as falling.

So LSU winning was seen by us outsiders that Bama was in fact beatable and human.

Then when the rematch occurred it seemed like LSU was destined to face the monster again, like LSU was cursed. I mean when is the last time two teams from the same division of the same conference who already played have played again for the national championship?  At the time A&M was in the B12 and I was really rooting for oSu.

IMO this is really the only true measurement of a helmet program. They get by with losses most other programs are not allowed to have to get in. Or at least it seems that way. It’s certainly oSUs fault they couldn’t get it done against ISU. But OU did pretty much the same thing and got in.
