All-Time Alabama help (By Decade)
« on: February 11, 2021, 02:59:21 PM »
If I could take 3 QBs for an All-Time Alabama team:
AJ McCarron
Tua Tagovailoa
Mac Jones
............and Richard Todd would be my 4th

.
Correct me.
Keep in mind - Namath only had 374 career attempts.

So what % of it is name recognition alone?  I do want this to appeal to a wide audience of each team's fans, but Stabler had 300 career attempts and regressed badly his SR year.

I'm doing it by decade.  1990s Alabama All-Star Team:
QB - Jay Barker and.......Andrew Zow??  Kitchens? LOL
RB - Alexander, Riddle, Sherman Williams, Lassic (S.Stacy will go on 80s team)
WR/TE - Palmer, Curtis Brown, Malone, Vaughn,......need a TE.....Patrick Hape?  Yeesh.
Sacks:  obviously Curry & Copeland....Mike Myers, Robert Stewart?
INTs.....tbd

2010s Alabama All-Star Team:
QB:  umm, the top 4 TD passers in Bama history played in this decade.  McCarron has a wide volume gap over Mac Jones.
Tagovailoa and McCarron
RBs:  Henry, N.Harris, Yeldon.....D.Harris over Richardson?  I'm not sure about that last one.  Does Lacy even get consideration?  Too many good ones.
WR/TE:  Smith, obviously.  Cooper.  Ridley, Jeudy, Waddle.  Need a TE, and Howard will do perfectly.

Julio Jones and Mark Ingram both played in 2010. Both would rank one or two at their positions.

Right, but if most of their production was pre-2010, they'd be on the previous-decade's team.  Or I'm doing from 01-10, idk.
.
My biggest thing about this team is Richardson - he was an absolute beast, but he's downgraded in people's minds because he fizzled out in the NFL.  I really hate that people aren't better at compartmentalizing this stuff in their heads.

Alabama 2000s All-Star Team
QB - McElroy and Wilson/Croyle.....either works.
RB - Ingram, Darby, Shaud Williams?, Coffee?..........for as strong as the 2010s RBs are, these aren't great
WR/TE - Julio, DJ Hall, Keith Brown, Maze, Hanks (or Milons, if he's not on the 90s team)......TE from the 2000s???  Nick Walker?

qb - mac, tua
rb - najee, henry, jacobs, trent, yeldon, d harris
wr - smitty, cooper, juedy, waddle, ridley, ruggs
te - howard, irv smith

agree, trent gets a bad rep for his nfl stint. dude still has one of the most beast-mode runs in cfb i've ever seen. that stutter at the end was amazing.
