Kerr: Cousins will be out ‘a while’ with ‘pretty significant quad injury’

After Monday’s 135-131 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers, Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr confirmed that DeMarcus Cousins suffered “a pretty significant quad injury,” and would be out “a while,” according to The Associated Press’ Tim Reynolds.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowki reports that league sources fear Cousins sustained a torn left quad, but the full extent of the injury won’t be confirmed until the 28-year-old undergoes an MRI Tuesday.

Cousins was chasing after a loose ball with 8:30 remaining in the first quarter when his left leg buckled, sending the him to the hardwood where he looked to be in pain.

The big man was immediately removed from the game and taken to the locker room.

Though the Warriors would extend their lead to 31 points midway through the third quarter, the Clippers would fight back to steal the game in its dying seconds, completing the largest comeback in postseason history.
