Your retort would be a tad stronger if you would maybe reference which one of us you're talking to and what we said you said that you're taking umbrage to.
As it is, Gig'em, Junior and I are talking about A&M's move to the SEC and you're standing to the side claiming you never said that and we're like WTF?  Who was even talking to him?
I thought we were over A&M's move to the SEC and talking about Arkansas return to the SWC 12?

I wish our tertiary rival would come back.  First 22 years of my life they were more competitive than our secondary rival so I thought they were our secondary rival.

Lots of folks in Longhornland always considered Arkansas to be a bigger rival than A&M.

This was one of the first games I ever watched (just on TV I mean):
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1969_Texas_vs._Arkansas_football_game
Living in eastern Oklahoma, only maybe 2 hrs drive from Fayetteville, most people I knew were cheering for the Hogs.  My family had nothing particularly in favor of the Hogs, but they weren't Texas and that was good enough.
I knew practically nothing about the sport at that age, but what I did get was the excitement everyone had about the game, particularly as it went down to the wire, as Texas came back to win.

I tend to cringe when I watch replays of that game.  Arkansas outplayed Texas badly, for about 57 minutes.  I'm all for defensive struggles and gritty comebacks, and I'm obviously pleased Texas won that game, but man it's sort of painful to watch.

Yet, I still do, pretty much every time it replays. :)

For me, as a young kid, this was the first truly CRAZY football game I'd ever watched.  And by crazy, I mean the effect it had on all my older family members watching.  We didn't even have a stake in the game, but everyone was glued to it intensely.

Maybe as a kid it was the first time I'd seen my parents, grandparents, uncles/aunts - you know a bunch of adults who were usually telling me to sit up straight, clean my plate, and be quiet in church - act like kids themselves.

It was kind of a revelation!

It occurred a couple of years before I was born, so I definitely didn't see it live.  My folks took me to many games at Memorial Stadium in Austin while I was growing up and I suppose my first real memories were of that 1977 season.  The team going 11-0 and winning the SWC, Earl Campbell winning the Heisman, and then that bitter drubbing at the hands of Notre Dame in the Cotton Bowl.

My dad's radio station was "the voice of UT football" back then so they effectively behaved like concert promoters for the radio broadcasts and threw big tailgate parties.  For the Arkansas game, they often bbq'd a whole hog and feasted on it prior to kickoff.  He often brought our whole family so I have lots of memories of tailgating, and then going into the stadium to watch the team.  Good times.

Glad to see Clemson giving ‘Bama an old fashioned butt whooping in the first half. Aside from A&M they’re one of my favorite programs.

We’ll see how Saban and Bama respond in the 2nd half.

Obviously they had no response.  I had to smile about Bama finding themselves 28 points down, just like OU was against Bama last week.  The only difference was that OU stiffened up and scored 34 points after they’d reached that deficit, while Bama just seemed to pack up and go home.

Anyway kudos to Clemson.  They are pretty awesome.  Some of those catches by their receivers were stunning, like that one handed one by Ross.  The Tigers seem to have caught lightning in a bottle and are the new king of the mountain.

OU has to be kicking themselves for letting Venables get away.  But oh well.  Hopefully this Ohio St guy will lead us to better defensive days ahead.

That NC game was interesting.
I almost felt as bad for Bama as I did for my poor Texans after a pitiful showing...    ALMOST.  But the joy of seeing them flop around in failure was too enticing to feel pity, so I quite enjoyed the Clemson Clinic on how to shut down a Saban team.

Congrats to the Clemson nation, and thanks for providing an epic SEC loss to the 2018 season finale.

I was trying to help out Bald Greg with various family duties during the game so missed a lot of it, but it sure seems to have been an epic beatdown.  Every time I tuned in I saw Clemson making a big play on offense, or just annihilating Alabama's offensive line and stuffing the Tide on defense.  I wasn't surprised Clemson won, but I was definitely surprised by the manner and margin.

Anyway, I don't know of any Clemson fans around this board, but congratulations to them for winning the 2018 national championship!

Now, on to college baseball season! :)

The first football game I ever saw on TV was Alabama, with Joe Namath at QB, beating OU, with Joe Don (Aptly Named) Looney at HB, 17-0 in the 1962 (season) Orange Bowl.  That was Bud Wilkinson's last team better than merely OK.  He would retire a year later and run for the U.S. Senate, and lose in the LBJ landslide of 1964.

On a Bud Wilkinson footnote,  tying in that Ark v UT game.  My Dad was a newly minted  Secret Service Agent at the time and was sent to that Ark. V UT game, one of his assignments was to escort Bud Wilkinson who was the ABC analyst to the winning locker room where President Nixon would be congratulating the winners.  You can see my Dad in his dark trench coat in the locker room during the televised celebration .  It's kind of weird for me to see as he looked like I did at that age.
