California seceding would be my first choice but Texas can get with it anytime.

Living in Texas, I would win either way.

Good stuff!  I don't recall the other two Sooners, but I certainly know AD.

Colt's got a dry sense of humor, but he's not as great as Jordan Shipley when it comes to funny acting bits.  Y'all ever see Jordan's commercials for "Melk?" :)

"If I owned Hell and Texas, I'd live in Hell and rent out Texas."

Just a fun quote, does anyone recall who made it?  Probably, a lot of very smart people over here, Phil.

The OU offense as usual looks potent, and that new QB is making Mayfield look like a bit of an afterthought.  Then again, the OU defense looks offensive.  Texas appears to be more of an SEC-lite team, other than the lose to Maryland of course.  No SEC team would lose to the Terps ever.

I understand this is considered to be a bit of a rivalry game in those parts, though of course it is only a local rivalry, of some note this year because both teams are ranked.  I suspect one will not be on Monday though.

OU 47  Texas 34

I click on the link and see a video of the UGA-Tenn game and the scholar athletes involved.
Do you have your “SEC homer” filter on, perchance? ;)

Little Phil Sheridan made the quote.  Not to be confused with Sherman who burned Atlanta.  I point that out because I have a hard time distinguishing Civil War generals and you know, it's just it's so darned relevant in life.

West of College Station, we don't really give a flip doodle about the Civil War.  Unlike you, we're Texans not southerners.  (Except for Willie Morris fans of course).

Interesting to see the objective/impartial enthusiasm for OU.  I suspect it's ignorance by cursory fans who look at records and recent history and jump to conclusions.

But there's a glowing weakness in this match up and it's not the Texas offense which is adequate.  It's Oklahoma defense.  It's abysmal.  Ranked 90th in total defense and 99th in third down conversion defense.  It can't stop the run and it can't stop the pass.  Mike Stoops is like a jug of milk with an 2003 expiration date.

I mentioned this to a Sooner fan friend of mine and of course he said, "Your offense could only score one touchdown again Kansas State, the worst team in the Big 12 this year.  Ha ha ha ha ha."

To which I replied, oh yes.  The worst team in the Big 12.  That has played a tougher schedule than OU and has a statistically better defense than OU.  Thank you for embellishing my point.

And while we're cherry picking, Texas also put 31 on the TCU defense that is ranked a good 75 spots higher than the OU defense.

So to me it boils down to this -

Texas has tall receivers and OU has little bitty tangle footed dwarfs at corner.   When the safeties come over to help, Keontay Ingram and Sam Ehlinger will rip a hole through the OU defense.

Ehlinger got over 100 yards rushing against OU last year.  OU had a Heisman quarterback and Texas was still wandering in the desert.  OU's margin of victory was 4 points.

There's no telling what will happen tomorrow.  Texas is too inconsistent to bank on.  Nothing would surprise me.  But anyone imagining an OU is a slam dunk hasn't taken a long hard look at their crappy defense.

the quote sounds like something that would have come out of Mark Twain's mouth

but, obviously it wasn't
"Courage; Generosity; Fairness; Honor; In these are the true awards of manly sport."
