The Norris book looks interesting too, particularly if he was editor of the Texas Observer.

My latest arrival (two days ago) from amazon is Inglorious Empire by Shashi Tharoor.  Have only read the first few pages but he pulls you right in.  An Indian perspective on the British invasion of the subcontinent.

Yeah, Willie Morris led an interesting life for sure.  Some here might know him as the author of My Dog Skip among others.

Dang you liberal scholars that read and drink mead.

In my life, I may have read Charlotte's Web, that Aldo Huxley book, Adventures of Tom Sawyer, and the Bible.  And that's being generous.

It might surprise you, but I'm actually not a big fan of mead, autumnal or otherwise.  Not much for hard ciders either. They're all too sweet for me.

I'll take all the mead and hard ciders.    They pair well with watching the Sooners lose.

Ah, I'm glad you all have your chosen libations at the ready to help ease the sting of Saturday's potential Horn loss ;)

I've got mine ready too, in case the fickle finger of ECFG fate ends up pointing my way.  Those bottles have been getting kind of dusty on the shelf though.  Haven't needed them but a few times this century.

Texans like to act all sophisticated, slick, and citified.  But as those of us who've lived there and escaped without drinking the kool-aid know, Texas jam packed full of native Texans who are

You're doing it wrong.
You can drink to celebrate wins, too.
You can celebrate small victories in life - like, I managed to get the cap off the bottle.

You should have come on down to the REAL part of Texas... where it's not even called Kool-aid, but either Sizzurp or Purple Drank.

By the way speaking of get rich quick schemes

You wanna know how to make a bundle?

You buy a Texan for what he’s worth, and sell him for what he thinks he’s worth ...
