As far as the 'Cats are concerned, qualifying for the postseason is never guaranteed so 6 wins honestly make me happy every time

- I know many NU fans were pissed that we "only" ended up in the Pinstripe Bowl with a .500 record .... they kept looking at our horrific 1-3 start and thought, "What if ..."

- well, unless you're Marty McFly, u can't go back in time so it does little for one's sanity to dwell on old crap that'll never be undone

- along that line, I preferred to view last year's campaign as, "Hey, despite our horrific 1-3 start, we still made it to and even won a bowl game!"

That said, this year's team may be the best Fitz has ever had led by an experienced QB / RB tandem that's easily as good as any in the conference

Because of that and the fact that said tandem will be broken up once Justin Jackson graduates, I'll up the ante and say 'Winning the West' would constitute a successful 2017 season

Oh, also, we have to beat Illinois dammit

PSU:  An good/expected season would be a NY6 bowl berth.  A great season would be a CFP berth.

Well the goal going in is always an undefeated season, but any season that contains a win over That Team Up North is special.

At a minimum, a New Year's Six Bowl Game.

Expectations are very high this season, but it's all about the starting QB staying healthy. If he goes down, a Pinstripe Bowl would be fine. Depth is pretty good at all the other positions.

For the Dawgs, it really comes down to beating Florida.  This team has a lot of talent and experience (except in the OL, which is the huge?).  Beating Florida probably means playing Alabama.

11-3 would be a pretty solid campaign, IFF they beat Florida.

Nine regular season wins is successful, though a hint unsatisfying given the schedule.
Ten wins is good, 11 very good, 12 outstanding but semi-attainable.

I'm usually in the nine is successful and eight is fine camp, but the schedule means eight might be rough, pending QB health.

Honestly 4-5 wins and being competitive in the games.  Building on some recruiting momentum rather than losing it with poor play.

6-6 would be the absolute ceiling probably with all these freshman that will be playing

9 wins IMO would be fairly disastrous considering the schedule.  I imagine Wisconsin will be favored in every game, and heavily favored in 11 of them.

I prefer to let the schedule play out. Last year looked very hard and later UW was criticized because "LSU wasn't all that" and "MSU was terrible" and all that garbage talk. Had LSU beat UW last year, they would have had 10 wins. But they didn't.

Tough to find a loss on that Badger schedule.
One would be understandable, maybe.
Two or three would be somewhat alarming.
