Another Saturday is upon us and there are some fun games on the docket. What's everyone up to today?
-
I'll be at the Bucks game. Tommy's Pizza on the docket for lunch.
-
I'm doing a beef/pork/veal meatloaf on this fine fall day. One of my dock mates is doing a potato casserole (not sure what that means) and we'll have to get some veggies from the market later on. A nice, stick-to-the-ribs meal will be good. Been a while.
-
11AM: Leave work
Noon: Flip between Penn State game & Auburn game, remote in one hand, something alcoholic in other
3:30PM: Flip between LSU-Florida, Notre Dame-UNC, Miami-FSU
-
Daughter's soccer game get the noon kick today, luckily the Bucks not on until 4. We'll see about cooking - have leftover ribs, brats, and hot dogs and need to get these filthy kids to eat those up.
-
24 year old daughter ( big UM grad/fan) here in Florida for the weekend with her Boyfriend ( huge MSU grad/fan). Should make for an interesting evening lol.
Maybe hit the local Oktoberfest early then settle in for some Buckeye/ Spartan/ Wolverine football.
Still not use to this- watching football when it is 90 and humid.

And when they are done with the leftovers, you can make yourself a ribeye. :)

I like the sound of that though my wife is a meatatarian so I have to get her one too.
-
Easy. Just get a 48 oz one really thick, smoke it for a bit and then sear it. Done!
-
Going to watch them dig and begin to pour concrete at my lot site. Catch some games since I'm going to miss the night slate.
-
That's exciting.
I had a week from hell, fell asleep before the Dodgers game even started, and woke up at 4am. But refreshed and feeling good. Gators on at noon here. Gonna go with a hearty 7-layer dip creation for the game.
-
Like Oak Brewery's 20th anniversary Oaktoberfest party today so will spend half the day at the brewery.
Then home for the Longhorn game and Aggie game on a couple of TVs.
-
That's cold.
"Southeastern" has got to be about the worst diss imaginable, from Northwestern's perspective.
-
Making a sauce recipe that I think gatorama originally posted.
-
Pretty mellow day here. Don't have the kids this weekend, and my girlfriend is already off to get her nails done and then go to a bridal shower, so I'm just sitting here watching PSU/NW and catching up on work until the Purdue game starts. I would have gone hiking this morning but it's supposed to reach 91 today, so no.
No big cooking today. Tonight we're heading down to Carlsbad to hang out with my Boilermaker fraternity brother and his wife.
But I just got an Instant Pot. Plan is to run it's inaugural cook tomorrow. Anyone have any good recipes for one of those?
-
NW killing themselves with turnovers. They've looked pretty decent otherwise.
-
Auburn and Georgia are separating themselves from the rest of the non-Alabama SEC pack. Both are early on in their games (vs Ole Miss & Vandy, respectively) exhibiting complete teams, with especially Auburn effectively working with a lot of different weapons on offense. Tigers QB looks like an NFL passer and is spreads it around to a number of playmakers at the skill positions.
-
NU having a hard time getting anything going today. And the punter.. ouch.
-
And just like that...
What the hell is going on in Iowa City?
-
Iowa just isn’t a very good team, that’s all.
-
Is #1 on Northwestern any good? A DT, I think. He just looks hilarious.
I hate when 'other' programs' look mimics a better program's uniforms.....Virginia looks like Auburn, at a glance. Iowa State copied USC. HATE that.
-
PSU with -2 yards rushing? Ouch
-
They really need to do something about these reviews. Reviewing plays for no reason, taking up too much time, and throwing everything out of rhythm.
-
My prediction for an NU upset in Evanston is looking pretty stupid right now.
-
Sooners turn the ball over at ISU's 5, then the Cyclones come right down to core and convert the 2 to tie the game up
-

Well, no offense but it was kinda stupid lol.
This is a REALLY good Penn State squad this year. Northwestern isn't that good. This isn't one of the better Northwestern teams- and it would take one of those type of teams to knock off this Penn State team.
Penn State is loaded with offensive fire-power and the defense has improved significantly over last year. I know they barely escaped Iowa- but that game should've never been that close. They had almost like 600 yards of offense. Iowa couldn't stop them- they stopped themselves. That's a bitch of a place to play in at night and lots of flukey-crazy shit happens there at night. Wind up not mattering bc McSorley put the dagger through Iowa's heart with 4 seconds left.
Barkley isn't blowing up the stat sheet these last two games but that's because teams are flat out selling out to stop him. Which is kind of silly because McSorley and that WR/TE crew is pretty damn good. That's a pick your poison type of offense. Either sell out to shut Barkley down or he'll destroy you- but when you do that McSorley is more than capable of dicing you up.
-
Go Cyclones! Up 31-24
-
Jarrett Stidham (Auburn's QB) is only a Soph? That's a program lifting QB that will stabilize Gus Mahlzan's job for the next few years. Much like Holgorsen getting Will Grier, especially if these guys can be kept through their Senior Years.
-
B1G the new conference of the RB? Zeke and Bell are two of the 3 best RB's in the entire NFL. Barkley might be joining them soon. If he's not a top 5 pick, I'll be absolutely shocked. He has literally everything you look for in a RB.
Pass catching ability? Check.
Top end speed? Check. (Something Bell lacks)
Power? Check.
Acceleration? Check.
Vision? Check.
Size? Check. 5'11, 230- really the perfect RB build.
He is a freaking stud. I just hope he goes to a team that knows how to use him. He could be a Marshall Faulk type of back who can get you 1,400 rushing and another 1,000 receiving a year.
-
Go Cyclones! Up 31-24
I just turned over to that game because PSU/NU was pretty well a lost cause. Just watched Baker Mayfield dance around the backfield for about 15 seconds trying to find ANY open receiver before getting sacked for a 10 yard loss. Yikes!
-

He was a 5* QB recruit, went to Baylor started as a true Frosh. Transferred once all that stuff with Briels went down. Think he's a RS Soph. And yes, he's a stud. Was praying he'd give Michigan a look once he transferred, but apparently 5* QB's don't want to play for Jim Harbaugh. Lol.
Grier is a stud as well. Florida is probably a completely different team and offense if he had never been suspended and then left.
Not sure either of them are big-time NFL prospects- so they might both stay their entire careers. Don't get me wrong- I'm sure they'll be drafted- but I don't see a Josh Rosen or Sam Darnold in either one. NFL teams aren't wetting their pants for either one.
-
Cyclones with a big touchdown with 2:19 left.
-
ISU scores! Up 38-31 on the Sooners in Norman with 2:19 to play...
-
Big 4th down for the Sooners
-
Didn't make it! Sooners going down!
-

Grier doesn't have the physical size preferred by the NFL, but having seen him play in person he is a master at scanning through his progressions AND using his feet in and out of the pocket. That's two hard-to-teach attributes that the NFL will be more than happy to work with and build around. Especially because of his feet, Grier looked like a college Bret Favre in the games I've watched him QB. And yes, I've wondered what this Gators team would look like with Grier. The QB position has been cursed post-Tebow.
-

absolutely shocking to me.
How the hell do you beat Ohio State on the road at night- but lose to Iowa State at home at noon? That is so Oklahoma under Bob Stoops- but he's no longer the coach lol.
Edit: actually that's not true. Stoops got embarrassed in most big games. Didn't earn that nickname Big Game Bob for nothing. I don't know what this is.
-
Purdue time! Boiler up!
-

yeah, don't get me wrong I agree. I think he's a HELL of a QB. I'd have wet my pants if trades happened in college football and they would've been able to trade Wilton Speight at the beginning of the season for Grier lol. He's awesome.
Honestly who really knows. These NFL jagoffs have no idea what they are doing when drafting QB's. They always take guys way too high that have no business going that high or pass up on guys they should take high. I just don't see Grier or Stidham being highly coveted by NFL teams. They always seem obsessed with the 6'4 to 6'6, 230-250 pound dude with the rifle arm. How the hell DeShaun Watson fell to 12th while Mitch Tribusky went 2nd overall is completely beyond my comprehension. Watson should've been the #1 pick in that draft and Tribusky probably shouldn't have been drafted until late. Most NFL GM's suck.
And yes Florida is a much better team with Grier this year. A QB like that can completely change an entire team. Makes the offense better obviously and the defense better by extension just because they aren't on the field all game long because the offense keeps stalling out.
-

It's a final that's a head scratcher right there

I didn't think McSorley would be as good because of the wind today, and I also didn't think Thorson would so bad. That was the difference today. PSU finally wore NU down and that was that. They had nothing left in Q4.
-
I guess it's hard to throw in the wind, but not THAT hard when you have a guy running with nobody within 15 yards of him...
7-0 Purdue!
-
Crap, missed the PAT.
6-0 Purdue.
-
Purdue with an INT, gives up good field position that MN turns into a touchdown.
7-6 MN.
Strangely, there was a fumble on the play RIGHT before the TD. I'm not sure what they called (maybe forward progress stopped?) as the ball was coming out before he was down. Not sure why the play wasn't called in for a review from the booth or challenged. It looked like at least something to review (unless I missed it and the RB got it back in the pile).
-
Unless Ohio State's WR was 7'11", he wouldn't have caught that pass anyway.
Easy PI fodder.
-
Have to be perfect, so we get cute.
WTF
-
Purdue with goal to go and throwing another INT, on another TERRIBLE decision by Blough.
I think we'll be seeing Sindelar next drive.
-
And now the Purdue defense is forgetting to tackle. Everyone needs to settle the F*** down and get back to playing football.
-
Jesus, two touchdowns scored while I ran to the gas station to get some beer. 14-7 Buckeyes.
-
10th B1G team RB Ty Johnson ran one back 100 yards for a TD on a kickoff.
-
For some reason by antenna is kind of goofy today and not getting a wonderful signal
-
This secondary for my boys is lost.
-
Might as well get your adding machines out for this game. OSU already back in the red zone.
-
Bucks muff the snap on the extra point, but with 7 minutes left in the first quarter it's 20-7
-
We simply don't have the offense for a shootout.
The defense is giving up huge yards in the secondary, and the downhill run is netting 5 yards a carry for OSU.
The game would be more interesting with Piggy, but we don't have a chance in a shootout.
-
I think that was a clean hit myself.
-
That might have been the worst targeting call I've ever seen. The receiver wasn't defenseless and he didn't hit him in the head. It was wrong by every definition.
-
Purdue gives up their third turnover with a Wright fumble... Could be a serious injury because in a tackle he clearly dropped the ball as he was going down... Can only imagine there was some SERIOUS pain to cause that.
Luckily Purdue forced a 3-and-out and got the ball back. Sadly on their own 1 yard line...
-
Bullshit call what was he suppose to do?Head is clearly to the side & he lowered his shoulder it's bang-bang.If he went low they would call him for going after knees.Just play flag football & be done with it
-
RG Bowen down with an injury. Depth at OL is not a strength for the Buckeyes, so would be a big blow to lose him.
-
This is unbelievable. It's like we got the ghost of Darrell Hazell instead of Joe Tiller on the sideline
-
And 4th Purdue turnover in the first half. Need to hold here, but this defense has to be getting tired with us coughing the ball up every few plays.
-
Purdue strips Rhoda inside the 10 and gets the ball back. Phew.
-
I wonder if Bowen being out affected their field goal
-
It majorly affected their possession. They confused Burrell with a twist and blitz and got JT.
-
Purdue only down 14-6 at the half, despite being -3 in turnover margin. That's about the best you can ask for given the turnovers.
In the second half, Bentley and Thieneman [sp?] will come back on defense. Hopefully we can start taking care of the football.
-
WVU well on its way to outgaining a team by 150 yards and racking up double digit more 1st downs and losing again. I'd love to find the school that's had worse special teams the last few years.
-
Blech. Bucks defense dominant, but special teams killing them and now Dobbins fumbles
-
JT 10-12 while we at 0-4 passing.
-
Refs missed a hold on the Bucks there
-
And now the Bucks shank a punt.
-
Refs missed a hold on the Bucks there
I didn't want to say it.
Defense is playing well.
Don't see it lasting until the end.
-
Just a comedy of errors, so far.
-
I don't want them to lose by 30, and I don't want to see Haskins on the field today.
That's all I can hope for at OSU.
-
Surprised at how bad OSU's special teams have been at how their OL is struggling.
Every other part of that team looks pretty good to me.
-
I'm feeling kind of bad for Maryland's quarterback
-
That was a Dobbins drive
-
How are these not false starts?
JT is bobbing his body and the WR's are moving before the ball is snapped.
-
The Trojans are getting a lot of penetration on those Beavers.
-
The Trojans are getting a lot of penetration on those Beavers.
Trojans are usually not the ones to want to see a breakdown in protection, but I guess in this case...
-
How are these not false starts?
JT is bobbing his body and the WR's are moving before the ball is snapped.
I'm with ya, though the refs hardly ever call that stuff. Also lining up offsides, though that is at least called every once in a while
-
My man Sam
-
I was totally expecting the Bucks to muff that punt
-
Touchdown Purdue! And this time the PAT is successful...
14-13 Min over Purdue.
-
Yep. Time to cut the grass.
-
Campbell has that sneaky speed where you think he'll get 15 yards and instead he's in the end zone
-
Yep. Time to cut the grass.
Lol. In the Terps defense this is a bad matchup for them with their 3rd string QB. He's not the rushing threat the other two were, and with OSU pressuring all the time it is tough for them to get any rhythm.
-
Purdue couldn't complete a drive, but with a GREAT play by the gunner on special teams, pins MN on their own 2.
-
Remember DJ.
This is how much Urby "respects" you.
-
Hell of a half for the Buckeyes. Winning 41-7, yardage 361-26. Special teams were terrible, and Branden Bowen going down is real concern.
-
WVU well on its way to outgaining a team by 150 yards and racking up double digit more 1st downs and losing again. I'd love to find the school that's had worse special teams the last few years.
Through 3 quarters:
1st downs- WVU 21. TCU 12
Total yards- WVU 440. TCU 328
Score: TCU 24. WVU 17
-
Hell of a half for the Buckeyes. Winning 41-7, yardage 361-26. Special teams were terrible, and Branden Bowen going down is real concern.
Great half vs a one dimensional offense and an OC who is scared.
I really have nothing against OSU fans. They're used to winning, but I hate Urban Liar.
I have too much integrity to wish him our coach.
I have no doubt he can't wait to trot Haskins on the field to rub salt in the wound, because of how much he respects DJ.
-
Purdue hits a chip shot field goal to retake the lead, 10 minutes to go in the 4th.
16-14 Purdue.
But now the game is going to weather delay / evacuation. Ugh. Hate this.
-
Bucks miss a field goal just to keep the special teams disaster going
-
Well he would play against any opponent. Frankly, I like Burrow better.
-
Gators lose at home to LSU
-
Well he would play against any opponent. Frankly, I like Burrow best.
FIFY :)
-
Seminoles with a late touchdown to go up on the Canes
-
Canes run the ball to get in field goal range. Balls right there
-
Canes go on top with 3seconds
-
Big review here
-
That's a TD
Yup
-
Play stands and canes likely to win
-
FSU starts 1-3? Ouch.
-
I'm starting to think that OSU might have this one.
-
S.Car taking Bert behind the Woodshed 48-22
-
Who is more likely to pull off the upset between Nebraska and Michigan State?
-
Buffalo QB 577 yards 7TD 0INTs because the game is in the 5th OT
-
Michigan with nice drive that stalls in the red zone. Haven't seen that before
-
Don't understand this coaching staff use of personnel. You throw those fade routes to the end zone to a TE and then a 5'11 WR? C'mon man. You've got 6'3" WR in Moe Ways and a 6'2 WR in Crawford and a 6'2" WR in DPJ. Try one of those???
-
Sparty gets the rock
-
Ty Isaac's ball security problems rearing it's ugly head. Thought that was in the past. Guess not.
-
Allen is an Effin scumbag. Takes a punch at Devin Bush's head and Bush gets called for a PI? GTFO.
-
Lewerke!
-
Lewerke scores
-
Somebody might want to spy Lewerke.....he's like the entire rushing offense for MSU right now.
-
Ty Isaac's ball security problems rearing it's ugly head. Thought that was in the past. Guess not.
Ball was ripped out
-
UW up 7-0 on a pick 6 in Lincoln
-
Cursing and swearing, cursing and swearing.
That's twice in as many weeks that a player that wouldn't even sniff a bad D3 roster gets abused on the final series. Add in the game at Penn State that got Winfield starting and it's not good.
Ugh.
-
Fucking highway robbery in Ft. Worth. With under 4 minutes left in a tie game WVU intercepts a ball down the sideline and it's called a pick on the field. Replay shows at the very least it's too close to overturn but they overturn it anyway. TCU goes on to score to make it 31-24. Photos now surfacing around the web showing the WVU defender with possession and a foot down, just like it was called on the field.
Then on the ensuing drive WVU hits a 29 yard pass down the sideline that would have put them 1st and 10 at the TCU 31. A late flag comes in that Brady Quinn confidently says will be PI on TCU that WVU will decline. The flag is offensive PI. So instead of 1st and 10 at TCU's 31 we have 1st and 25 at our own 25. The replay shows it to be about as bad a call as you will ever see and in fact our WR his getting is jersey ripped off as he pulls it in.
It basically amounted to a 44 yard swing in field position and with 1:30 to play that was basically the game. I may get drunk tonight. Tough one to take.
-
Ball was ripped out
Yeah it was ripped out- but you see how he was carrying it so low. High and tight. High and tight. He's had ball security issues going back to his days at USC.
-
Great play by O'korn there dealing with the pressure
-
Should've been a PI flag. DPJ had him smoked. BS.
-
Should've been a PI flag. DPJ had him smoked. BS.
Welcome to college freshman
-
OL had no idea who was blitzing who was dropping. That was pretty bad ass on MSU's DC part of disguising.
-
Welcome to college freshman
I'm still STEAMING pissed on that no call.
They called Mettellus on a ticky tacky PI on a play which Mettellus had his head around and broke up the pass with left hand.
And then they don't call that MSU DB for grabbing on after DPJ smoked him? Wow.
-
Bowen with a broken leg is done for the year
-
Lewerke is the goods at QB
-

Oh he definitely smoked him, but the DB gets a little tug and then it's even again. If the refs don't see it, didn't happen
-
HELL of a play by MSU there
-
Dave Warner is out-scheming Don Brown. Who the hell would've thought that? He was one step ahead of Brown every step of the way.
-
Sparty got over looked here at the alter of Don Brown
-
This is why I hate playing MSU. This is like MSU's fucking Super Bowl every year. If this Michigan team isn't going to play like it's their Super Bowl too- then why the fuck did they even show up and play?
-
beautiful play from sparty there
-
Dantonio is a Tressel guy, and Tressel was all very predictable until the Michigan game, where he always went off tendency. MSU does the same. Harbaugh is a great coach, but he doesn't really go off tendency in the big games. What you see is what you get.
-
Navy beat Air Force.
What happens if they are undefeated going into Army week?
Final Playoff selections are due in by then.
You'd have to think an undefeated service academy would get a patriotic bump and at least be on the bubble.
-
Seeing at least 2 more losses on our future schedule.
SMH
-
Good job Karran Higdon. Can't you just cut block a LB like every other RB? You do that it's a TD. ARRRRGH.
-
They need to play Chris Evans in the slot at RB more often. Like way more often.
-
This is why I hate playing MSU. This is like MSU's fucking Super Bowl every year. If this Michigan team isn't going to play like it's their Super Bowl too- then why the fuck did they even show up and play?
Money - lotsa money

Yeah MSU pulls out all the stops for this one. You see all kinds of shit you never seen them do.
-
This is a pathetic attempt of play-calling, coaching, playing.
O'Korn looks like the only Effin guy that came to play.
-
Man that drop hurts
-
Weasels get a break there
-
MSU pass rush suddenly deadly
-
MSU pass rush suddenly deadly
Did you see the replay? The TE and the WR's all ran the same Effin route.
Where are the crossing plays? where are the pick plays? Where are the go routes?
O'Korn has no where to go with the ball. This is some pretty bad coaching.
-

I would agree - Michigan's play design is pretty banal
-
DPJ took himself out of that play like Herbie said. Had his guy beat.
He's gonna be a really good one when he figures the little nuances out. He can pretty much run by almost anybody at will. He's freakish.
-
LaVert Hill is pretty good. Yeah, like I can see why he won the National DB of the Year Award.
-
UM with good field position
-
Doh
-
This game is a disaster. McKeon needs to just fall down instead of trying to be a hero. Clock stops on a 1st down. Jesus Christ.
-
O'Korn has impressed the hell out of me.
The OL and the offensive coaching staff and the rest of the offense- not so much.
-
Man, Taylor is a stud.
-
I agree OKorn has played decent needs some help try some pop passes or bubble screens.Find out if M's depth can carry the contest
-
I agree OKorn has played decent needs some help try some pop passes or bubble screens.Find out if M's depth can carry the contest
Man he threw a great pass to McKeon on 3rd and forever, got them in FG range to cut it to a 1 score game and....McKeon tries to be a hero and gets the ball stripped.
O'Korn escaped pressure, threw a hell of a deep ball for a TD on the run to Crawford and it gets called back because....Karran Higdon held a LB instead of taking him out at the knees like most small RB's would do.
I think he's been great. His coaches, the play-calling, the OL, and the RB's/WR's/TE's are straight up failing him.
-
Rashan Gary looks like a mutant. Like seriously. A dude should not look like that and move like that at his size.
-
GO FOR IT
-
Michigan can't waste this field position
-
Too close to call. I don't think they should've over-turned that. Same thing as the Lions game against Atlanta. If it's too close to call- leave it alone.
-
Lewerke has a little Brett Favre in him
-
Lewerke has a little Brett Favre in him
Um. I don't see that at all. Brett Favre had one of the strongest arms in football history. Lewerke's arm is pretty good- but it's not remotely close to that. Favre could run a little bit- but he was nowhere near as athletic or fast as Lewerke.
I see more of a Steve Young or something. He's a running QB that can also throw it.
-
OMG Rashan Gary just killed an MSU OL on that play.
-
Scott rips Crawford's helmet halfway off and no flag. Yup. sounds about right.
What does Michigan have to do to get a PI flag. I want a god damn PI flag for that bullshit one they called on Mettellus and the one they failed to call on DPJ.
-
O'Korn runs himself into sacks when there is no pressure. Speight kinda stunk but at least he didn't do that.
-
This weather is crazy
-
This weather is crazy
Yeah, pretty much means MSU's got this on lock. Not gonna be able to pass the ball for shit in this weather.
-
Why wasn't 10 tossed or flagged for spearing for Mich?
Weather is making this game a train wreck
-
Why wasn't Cooper called for that late hit on O'Korn?
-
Not gonna win many games losing 5 turnovers
-
O'Korn has lost the plot
-
5 turnovers. 5 fucking turnovers.
Why are they throwing bombs in this weather? Seriously?
-
Where's the jet sweep with McDoom? Why aren't they going to the TE's? How about some crossers? Need short easy throws. Not bombs away in this weather.
-
MSU is going to ride it's defense. Not even trying to throw
-
This play-calling sucks. I can see why 49ers fans were itching for OC Greg Roman to be fired. Have a feeling this is Harbaugh's offense- no matter who the OC title is.
-
MSU is going to ride it's defense. Not even trying to throw
Why would they? Only bad things can happen if they throw in this weather. Game is over. They won. Only way they can lose is if they turn it over and give Michigan a TD or great field position.
-
Jim Harbaugh- you are a great head coach- but you absolutely suck at offensive football stratgeizing. Like absolutely suck.
-

It's Tress--er DantonioBall

Fuck this game. Fuck this offensive coaching staff. Fuck Michigan State.
Why the FUCK do they always get the FLUKEY plays in this game? Lewerke fumbles the snap and then picks it up and lands short of the 1st but lands on his own fucking player and rolls over him for a 1st down? Un-fucking-believable.
Why does MSU always get the fucking voodoo in this game? Can we just drop MSU from the schedule? Fuck them. We don't need to play them.
-
O'Korn has impressed the hell out of me.
The OL and the offensive coaching staff and the rest of the offense- not so much.
I can’t even imagine how you could be impressed by this disaster of a qb.
-
I can’t even imagine how you could be impressed by this disaster of a qb.
That was posted right after the first half.
And he played well in the 1st half. The rest of his team played like garbage. McKeon cost them at least a FG and Higdon cost them a TD. McKeon doesn't try to be hero and goes down they more than likely get 3 with that kicker. Higdon doesn't bear hug an MSU LB and that great deep ball pass to Crawford for a TD stands.
2nd half was a different story. It was also 20 mph winds and a rain storm in the 2nd half.
-
Did UM catch a break there? Refs said to start the clock, but they didn't
-
MSU #23 holy hell, utter moron

Getting to be hail mary time

Sparty Hell Yes

BTW I've been high on Sparty all year and it feels good to be so right
-
Attaboy Sparty.
-
Classic Michigan/Michigan State game. Fun.
-
BTW I've been high on Sparty all year and it feels good to be so right
Relax. They got blown out by Notre Dame. This Michigan offense is putrid. Like all-time bad. The offensive coaches are clueless.
MSU is definitely much improved over a 3-9 season, but not really sure they proved much beating what was an overrated Michigan team.
OSU and PSU are still the best in the B1G. I think both of them will wipe the floor with MSU. They both have really good offenses. Michigan doesn't have an offense.
-
So Harbaugh is 1-1 in Bowl Games, 1-2 vs Sparty, and 0-2 vs OSU?
Rough start...

Tell me how you really feel...

I'd like to see a stat showing which team draws the most Pass Interferences in a year, and how they are achieved.
Seems like some teams get those calls quite frequently, and it's usually because their QB throws terrible balls that WR's have to adjust to, and the defender gets screwed by running into them.
-
Go BIG RED.

So Harbaugh is 1-1 in Bowl Games, 1-2 vs Sparty, and 0-2 vs OSU?

Best coach EVAR?

Not gonna win many games losing 5 turnovers
Row the boat. :86:

Bowl games really don't matter to me unless it's the Rose or CFP. The 1-2 to Sparty and 0-2 to OSU irks way more for sure.
But I'm just way more pissed off that he's wasting an elite defense away just like he did in 2016 bc they can't put together a freaking respectable offense.
They were an elite defense in 2016. If it's actually possible- they might be a better defense this year- starting 11 wise- than they were last year. Maurice Hurst, Chase Winovich, and Rashan Gary are flat out elite players. Gary is really starting to come into his own and he is scary talent wise. He leaps off the screen. He is causing problems for the offense damn near every snap even if he's not getting sacks. That's a top 5 NFL draft pick in the very near future. Josh Mettelus is a way better strong safety than Dymonte Thomas could have ever dreamed of being. Devin Bush is flat out better than Ben Gedeon could have ever dreamed of being at MLB. LaVert Hill is way better way faster than I thought he'd be.
Just a shame that a team with a defense this good is going to be wasted- yet again. If they had even B+ offense this is a lethal team bc they got an A+ defense and some really solid special teams units and a hell of a kicker.

Bryce Love is avg 8.9 yards/carry today. 2 yards behind his season avg.
Also somehow Arizona's QB had 14 carries for 327 yards today. Also was 11/12 passing.

heheheheheee- there is a filter thingy I've been playing with that exchanges words outside of users ability to alter... Now, I wouldn't do that to y'all, because we're mostly all adults here... but... if i were to do such a thing it would have rendered this post something like:
I wanna hump this game. I wanna hump this offensive coaching staff. I wanna hump Michigan State.
Why the I wanna hump do they always get the FLUKEY plays in this game? Lewerke fumbles the snap and then picks it up and lands short of the 1st but lands on his own I wanna hump player and rolls over him for a 1st down? Un-I wanna hump-believable.

friend, that's a whole lotta humpin'.... you must be a young man, no? I usually tap out after two or three sessions within a 24 hour window, nowadays.
back on topic: these games are rivalry for a reason. enter today into lore.

MCTERP, It's a good point. It is actually a strategy now, which is why you almost always see it once a team crosses the 50 yard line.
In fact, I am sure you thought Ohio State got some of those yesterday, and you are right. I can tell you, their coaches are saying " it is about damn time" since they have been wanting Barrett to do that for two seasons now. If you have man to man, throw the damn ball and let your WR make a play or maybe you get a PI call. That's been happening to OSU relentlessly for two seasons and yesterday was the first time I can recall they got some going their way.
-

Fer real? That's a productive day at the office right there
-
I'd note that ND benefited from significant turnovers against Michigan State, who I think is a solid team.
Of course I also think Dantonio can coach a lick.
MSU might beat somebody else good this year.
-
BTW I've been high on Sparty all year and it feels good to be so right
Same. :72:
-
Pretty clear last year was an aberration for Dantonio.
-

It's well established that the ND game has little effect on MSUs season historically. And as you point out, MSU made some critical errors in that game that ND capitalized on. I still believe that if LJ doesn't fumble going into the end zone that game ends up being a one score affair either direction.
I don't think this is 2013 situation where MSU loses to ND and ends the season as arguably the best team in the nation but I do agree that there is a good chance this isn't the last marquee win We'll see. This is still a crazy young team that will have its moments.
-
Fer real? That's a productive day at the office right there
He didn't even start the game.
-
Pretty clear last year was an aberration for Dantonio.
Yeah, that was surprising. The guy can flat out coach.
Congrats to Sparty, most around here know I'm a t-shirt Michigan fan but that has to feel good for MSU fans to take out their rival like that. I only managed to catch a little of that game because my own team was busy almost killing me by myocardial infarction in a 2OT game against the Purple Menace, and my i s c & a aggie wife's team was also in its own painful episode against Nick Satan, but what I did manage to catch of UM-MSU was interesting.
-

I think ND is actually pretty solid this year too. Honestly their most impressive performance was only losing by 2 to a Georgia team that I think is the 3rd best team in the nation.

It just occurred to me that there were two helmet schools from the B1G celebrating the 20th anniversaries of their split MNC's.
They both lost.
-
I didn't think McSorley would be as good because of the wind today, and I also didn't think Thorson would so bad. That was the difference today. PSU finally wore NU down and that was that. They had nothing left in Q4.
PSU's defense is playing about as well as I've seen in the past decade. It's a physical, fast unit and VERY deep in some key areas, mainly CB and the DE positions. It seems a different name comes up off of that DL every week, with the exception of Shareef Miller who may very well end up on the all B1G first team.
As of the offense, it hasn't been fluid but it is winning and putting points up due to exactly this - depth, quality depth, and really quality depth. They key to stopping PSU is selling out on the run yes, but selling out on the blitz too. PSU's OL still isn't up to snuff, so if you can get pressure and have CB's that can operate in man coverage, you can stop PSU's offense. So it's one thing for IU to do it and give up 45 points, but it'll be a another for OSU, Michigan and Sparty.
Areas of major concern reamain tho:
1. The FG unit is a debacle and could easily cost them a game. What was an automatic last year is now a 50/50 proposition at best. New holder, new snapper and a line that's just not getting it done and getting pushed off the ball. Which leads me to....
2. The RT situation. It's been a revolving door on that side. Brendan Mahon has played RG most of the year this season after playing most of the year at RT last year. The reason? Chaz Wright and Andrew Nelson SHOULD be legit starters there right now (and even RS FR Will Fries), but none have anchored it down. Mahon projects as a guard in the NFL (if he were to make it there), so this is a natural fit for him. But they may need to shift him out and try someone else at RG, which doesn't bode well.
Obviously, PSU's season is essentially a 4 week one now - BYE, UM, OSU (road), MSU (road). That's quite a gauntlet.

Befitting Wisconsin, that is very, very cold.

Wisconsin was screwing around, then got all Wisconsin and did the train thing. I'm already worried about Purdue.
Also, the opening of Commander-in-Chief trophy season was a Navy-Air Force shootout that ended with an option two-minute drill. What a time to be alive.
