Kentucky with Stoops, Iowa State with Matt Campbell, Syracuse with Dino Barbers, and Purdue with Brohm.yes, those are programs I'm interested to see if they continue to trend up
She prefers somewhere warm, last year was Hawaii. I would be fine with staying here almost full time frankly. I prefer travel to see interesting things, history, culture, etc., not to "lie on the beach".I have two daughters. After trips to Hawaii, St. Pete's beach, a cruise, another trip to Hawaii, I told them I was done with beach trips for awhile.
I will add teams as the thread grows, but for starters I want to see how the following four usually bad to mediocre programs follow up on last season’s big successes that I’m surprised didn’t get their coaches immediately employed at a higher level: Kentucky with Stoops, Iowa State with Matt Campbell, Syracuse with Dino Barbers, and Purdue with Brohm. And I will be expecting these four names to be speculated as soon as any big time job opens, if not constantly brought up when discontentment is setting in amongst fanbases who want their guy canned - looking at you Clay Helton and Gus Malzahn. To be honest, Brohm is in a pretty good spot right now. Huge salary, [relatively] low expectations. Players love him, fan base loves him, he seems to be getting administrative support. And he's a low-key sort of guy who I honestly believe signed up to do a job [rebuilding the program] and isn't going to leave unless he's succeeded or he doesn't feel like he's getting the institutional support to succeed.

planning to visit the San Fran Bay area next with them when we can work the schedule.
Laying on the beach doing nothing is my personal idea of hell.Yes. Yes, it is.
I'm really curious about how OSU is going to perform without Meyer.Me too. I feel like OSU got a master in Tressel, and then due to the circumstances of his departure it was clear that Fickell was basically an interim coach. Then they got their white whale in Meyer.
Laying on the beach doing nothing is my personal idea of hell.I find things to do near the beach.
I got too much last weekend, on the dock. Is the reflection from the water also radiation?Indeed it is. Radiation includes all visible light, radio waves, ultraviolet rays (which does the damage), gamma rays, X-rays, microwaves, whatever, as you well know.
I don't mind walking on the beach when the weather is nice. To go lie on the beach and subject myself to radiation emanating from a nuclear reactor is not my cup of tea.(https://media.giphy.com/media/wL8dslmj94UNO/giphy.gif)
The wife likes to lie in the sun by the pool. I find the shade and read a book. I tan a lot better than she does which makes her envious.
That bright thing in the sky is a massive emitter of RADIATION from NUCLEAR reactions. So, NUCULAR RADIATION, folks, on the beach or by the pool, hitting your body, causing mutations and cellular damage and aging.
I need to start wearing a hat. I hate wearing hats.Wear a stylish hat, like a straw fedora in the summer.
I have a golfer's tan, not because I'm trying. It just happensFer shame on you if you were a real cornhusker you would have recognized it for what it is - a farmers tan
I find things to do near the beach. That I can do. I loved the trip to the Cinque Terre, which of course is 5 little towns along the beach. I like being near the water. Heck, I like going in the water.

I need to start wearing a hat. I hate wearing hats.
I wear caps on the course religiously, really should sunscreen my nose and faceI hate hats and sunscreen as well...
not gonna do it
I hate hats and sunscreen as well...A hat will keep you cooler overall. You don't see Bedouins going around without something covering their heads. To be without a hat in the desert is to die.
I've found that when I go hiking, though, I need to do the sunscreen. I can't handle the hats because on a hike I'll sweat into the hat and take it off after ~30 seconds. But on anything longer than a few miles, the sunscreen has to come out or I'll get roasted.
Pfffft, says who? :33:
The Ryan Day experiment in Columbus should be interesting. Urban Meyer is a tough act to follow.
Fer shame on you if you were a real cornhusker you would have recognized it for what it is - a farmers tanfarmer's tan is MUCH different
It's interesting how coordinators get crystallized in our minds. Texas kind of had the same thing with Greg Davis, who built a bunch of effective offenses with Young and McCoy, and most people call him a dolt for his work in 2010 (the Iowa tenure didn't help).
I am not high on Manny Diaz. I believe that it was at UT that they called him "Iaz," as in "no-D." I did not think that his actions in leaving Temple and taking some of his players with him were honorable. Because of that, and because he is going to Miami, I will view it as karmic when he fails.
A good friend of mine in Cincy is a Miami fan and was elated with Richt took over, couldn't understand why UGA fired him. I told him IMHO Richt was only an "OK coach", not a great one at all. He didn't believe me then, does now. Miami could be in long term trouble.Richt is sort of fascinating and a good reminder of how quickly things change in college football.
Ban dihydrogen monoxide!
I saw something yesterday in the store advertised as containing "No Chemicals". Hmmmm.
I watched Richt get out coached often, too often, when there was a large talent advantage. Spurrier of course was the main nemesis, which I could understand to an extent.I'd assume if I watched a guy coach for that long, I'd remember the out-coachings more vividly. It's also a factor the major of losses a competent UGA coach will have feel like out coachings.
Another thing is his teams had all sorts of off season issues much less often encountered today. I think he thought he could change people, and on occasion he did, but often he could not. Smart is somehow recruiting even better than Richt was, which is tough to do.
We'll see if Smart can do something with all that talent, he has a lot right now.
I’m more interested in Michigan St than I am going into most seasons. The Spartans are poised to have a monster year on defense and with Lewerke (underrated, IMO) hopefully healthy along with the offense all back the roster is in place to go toe to toe with anyone in conference. 5-0 should be the case going into the mid season stretch Vs Ohio State, Wisconsin, and Penn State; And I imagine Spartans wins against them will look like how Arizona State and Michigan beat the Spartans last year in ugly games. That's sort of how I feel. Most talented MSU roster since at least 2014, and I just don't see the staff utilizing it right. Granted a year where we go to Columbus and Ann Arbor, and have crossover ROAD games against Wisconsin and Northwestern, this isn't exactly a year where talent aligns with schedule, which is typically important for MSU. Last year was their year to make a statement, and injuries and coaching derailed the whole thing badly.
My big reservation is the coaching staff. When it comes to experience and NFL potential MSU has a Top 10 roster. But a Top 10 roster won’t overcome a coaching staff as stale as Dantonio & Staff have been these past 3 seasons.
Not to mention, I’m very much looking forward to another mean spirited edition of who gets the Paul Bunyan Trophy.
Penn State +3 at MSU, and Wisconsin -2 against MSU in Madison seem like easy money(https://media.tenor.com/images/6c9334f42d7d696d0b9cee92ac1f3e0e/tenor.gif)
I always considered Dantonio to be one of the better coaches going. He was a very good program CEO, which is important. But his loyalty to bad assistants is crippling the program. I don't blame him for the weird offensive playcalling, but I do for not doing anything about it.

I don't blame him for the weird offensive playcalling, but I do for not doing anything about it.He’s a great defensive coach and while he doesn’t recruit highly ranked classes every year he’s got a great eye for talent and developing said talent. Especially on defense. His hit rate on recruits is better than most.

Yeah, I'm not saying he needs to be fired or anything, it just sort of feels like a Frank Beamer trajectory. Higher highs than the program had in a very, very long time, followed by a period of contentment. Like Beamer, I don't think he'll ever fade so much to warrant firing, but he'll just kind of be content to be a 7-5ish type team, and keep his buddies employed. He’s the best thing that’s happened to MSU in ages. Really impressive what he was able to do to there. Brought them back from the dead really.
I do wonder how attractive the job is to whoever is next in say 2021 versus 2015.
