Florida's 12-year stranglehold on the SEC All-Sports Trophy was ended by Texas A&M this year. Good on them.

congrats aggies

Would happily trade it for an SEC football title... or NCAA Baseball title.
But it's a start I guess...

Get a NC in both of those and basketball, and then we'll talk. :72:

I think most of us are football centric, with occasional interest in baseball and bball of course. Someone could have a Stanford like year and win this trophy and be say 4-7 in football, and most of us would see that as a downer.
I would think some kind of weighting should be applied for this to really be of any note.

If the top spot went around from school to school, it'd be a bigger deal. But Florida's entire athletic program, top-to-bottom, both sexes, was hands-down #1 every year, so everyone else didn't even see it as a goal.

Yeah, it's akin to Stanford, but even if it was spread around, I'm not sure many would care. "We" have our favorite sports, and we care how our teams did in those sports, not in equestrian or track, generally speaking.
Now, if your school wins an NC in gymnastics or other minor sport, it's a minor feather I think. If your team gets to the baseball WS it's a minor feather, to me anyway.
UGA could finish last in everything and first in CFB and it would be a good year for me.

Yeah well... I couldn't care less about basketball.
Gimme conference and national titles in either of the others sports and I'm happy.

It is a sign the AD is probably doing the right things overall, at minimum, even if the bragging rights for us is a bit diluted.
Of course, that does not apply if UGA ever wins it.
