They had him as an honorary ref at the UGA spring game, and chatted with him afterward. He was remarking about how tough it was out there, how physical, etc. They had a number of honorary refs, it was interesting to listen to them.
I was thinking about how much I enjoy broadcasts when TB is doing color. He often will say something like "They like to run a screen in this situation" and then a screen appears. I have always thought he was the best in the biz. He has a good voice and seems very well prepared.

Attending my 2nd Husker game in Lincoln in 1981 Blackledge and Joe Pa beat the Huskers and Tom Osborne and nearly got Tom tarred and feathered
Todd didn't have a great game, Penn State, Blackledge 4-13-0-87.
but Curt Warner ran for 238 yards
In 1982 Todd had a much better day, because Warner was held under 90 yards. Blackledge 39-23-1-295
Joe Pa won again, but Osborne had a good season and wasn't on the hot seat.
even-though Blackledge hurt my Huskers on the field, possibly costing them the MNC in 1982, I did appreciate his work in the booth and got to like him after all.
no hard feelings

He did kill UGA's shot at an NC in '82. He's still a great analyst.

I’m a big fan of Blackledge as a broadcaster. Blackledge winning the Penn St job back in 1980 caused Jeff Hostetler to transfer to WVU. Hoss had a nice two year run as the starter in Morgantown, met Don Nehlen’s daughter, married her, and then went on to lead the Giants to a SB in 1990 when Phil Simms got hurt.
Hoss now resides in Morgantown and owns a construction business. Funny how things work out sometimes.

Back when they worked together, my favorite broadcast duo was Blackledge-Nessler. Preferred them over Herbstreit-Musberger. Of course it helped that the Blackledge broadcast was my Mom’s preferred too, solely because they are cousins through the maternal side. All in all a very considerate person.

I really liked Ron Franklin doing Sat night ESPN games.
