The University of Tennessee's men's basketball coach, Rick Barnes has been named the Werner Ladder Naismith Men's Coach of the Year.
The award winner was announced on Sunday afternoon by the Atlanta Tipoff Club during the annual Final Four Brunch in Minneapolis.
"Rick Barnes has built an incredible program at Tennessee, and his coaching performance this season was worthy of the top award in college basketball, the Werner Ladder Naismith Trophy Men's Coach of the Year," Atlanta Tipoff Club Executive Director Eric Oberman said. "We are honored to recognize Rick as the newest member of the Naismith Awards family."
The Naismith Award is the most prestigious award in college and high school basketball that recognizes outstanding achievements, according to the Naismith's Twitter page. Barnes will be the first Vols coach to win this award.

This is the second national honor Barnes has received this season. He was previously named as the "overwhelming" winner of the 2019 Henry Iba Award.
