Title: 2019 Penn State Offseason Thread

How Franklin goes from here will be telling. He looked to be on borrowed time midway through 2016, and turned that around. Can he do it again, or was he saved by an OC/QB combo that worked really well together, being on campus at the same time as a generational talent?

I count 6 wins, 1 loss (OSU) and 5 toss-ups (Pitt, UMd, Iowa, Michigan, MSU), so 8-4 or 9-3 but with so much attrition and the offensive braintrust already missing in 2018, 9-3 feels like it'd be a surprise.

Now Tommy Stevens in the transfer portal. Seems to lock in Sean Clifford as the starter.

Post by: Anonymous Coward on April 17, 2019, 07:33:58 PM: I haven't kept track but a non-embellished guess is that they've had 15-18 guys enter the portal this year, and maybe only 3-4 have stayed. Obviously this is a little different because he only has one year of eligibility left and he and his dad have, in as gentle a way as possible, previously stated this last chance is too valuable to waste. That they need a starter guarantee to stay. Camp just ended. I guess he couldn't get one.

Bad news bears.

So where does he go - Pitt? Louisville? Or, most straightforward, does Miss St. need a QB?

Penn State: The keys for the Nittany Lions, IMHO are whether or not they can win the home game against Michigan and the road game against Iowa. If they win both they should finish 8-1 and at least tied for the B1G-E. If they lose both then it is hard to see them finishing above 6-3. PSU's recent history with Iowa has been entertaining to say the least. PSU has won five straight dating back to 2011 but the last two wins were a six point win at home and a two point win on the road. PSU's recent history with Michigan hasn't been exciting at all. The home team has won the last three meetings by 35, 29, and 39 points.
