Finally, cool weather here in Florida. Feels great. I was in Michigan visiting family last week and it felt so nice. I can only take the heat and humidity so long.Same-same,those infernal regions seem ablaze sometimes - for long stretches too.Much rather throw another layer on and stick to removing snow, raking leaves and the occasional Blizzard
Ironic, you put Turkey in the thread title. It really is the worst. It's like having a preseason game in the middle of the playoffs
I thought you might call this chickenshit Saturday, like they did on ESPNU radio, in honor of those conferences that scheduled cupcakes today.

5 am here. Within an hour, we should be in the car. Hopefully before 2 pm, we'll be drinking wine in the Dry Creek Valley region of Sonoma.Beautiful part of the world. Post a photo if not too inconvenient.
Dinner plans, you ask? Drinking Pliny the Elder at Russian River Brewing Co.

Will you be able to see smoke?Probably not. With the Jetstream going west->east, the "Camp" fire up in the Sacramento area will be considerably east of us. That said, we'll be headed that direction Monday to go up to Oregon, so we might see it then.
Had our first snow this week, a pleasant mix of freezing rain that turned into rain that turned into snow. But that's gone and will hopefully be dry and reasonably not cold today. I'm on driver duty - my daughter is supposed to go to a bat mitzvah. What does one bring to a bat mitzvah? How long do they last? These are things I probably should have thought about before this morning.Always give cash (check or gift card) in $18 increments. The duration? That can vary, depending if you're attending the Service and the party, or just the party.
My high school (where I played football once upon a time) finally won the Div 1 (largest class) Wis. State title last night, which is cool. The really interesting thing is that they run the Wing-T offense (avg. over 300yds p/g). They passed the ball 3 times, one of which was an INT. No wonder they are ranked #120 nationally in MaxPreps. :). They upset the Kimberly Papermakers which had won 5 straight state titles. As a power run aficionado, I had to take a look at this and found the longform highlights. Notable they didn't just go up and sit on the ball. Lots of trading scores, certainly worth the price of admission.
Perfectly defended, except one player. But his job, which was easy, was the most important one.Yes, it's the most basic part of defense, and they continue to look like they don't understand it
Arnette is simply supposed to step up field, sealing the edge and spilling the RB back into the traffic.
My goodness are they lostYou're fine.
WOW.LOL, Purdue, Nebraska, Oregon State, TCU, Minnesota, and Indiana all over again.
Purdue all over again ?
Yes, can’t blame that on just one player. Two lineman pushed aside and giving up gap integrity and leaving the safety to miss a hard tackle because gap was so big.Not at all. The other problem is that while White missed the tackle, he did slow him up long enough that other players should have been flowing to the ball. But they weren't.
Weird to see them play that bad.
Not at all. The other problem is that while White missed the tackle, he did slow him up long enough that other players should have been flowing to the ball. But they weren't.True. As a safety, as you come up for that tackle, your technique is to keep your outside shoulder outside the RBs, so tha his only cut is back toward traffic. White did not due that.
The tackles for OSU have been doing that all year.Yes, especially Prince. Come to find out, he is actually moving when the ball is supposed to be snapped. The center, Jordan, who will play on Sundays as a guard, has struggled all year to snap the ball on time and also accurately. This is his first year at center, started as a freshmen and sophomore at guard.
Sheffield got straight up burnt thereYa horrible throw by the QB. A decent throw this game is 21-3 in the 1st quarter. I wouldn’t have expected that in a million years.
Bammer Citadel tied at 7 in the second quarterIf there is a god Bama will lose this game by a fg on the last second.
Oh my god. Ohio State defense is soooo bad today. It's bad every week
Maryland on track to rush for 600.
Not at all. The other problem is that while White missed the tackle, he did slow him up long enough that other players should have been flowing to the ball. But they weren't.That's what occurred to me, watching the highlight. I'd tell the player - your position name is SAFETY. You're the last line of defense. You can't be diving at ankles, at worst, hold the guy up until the cavalry arrives.
If there is a god Bama will lose this game by a fg on the last second. They'd still make the playoff.
They'd still make the playoff.I’d think they’d be out with a loss to The Citadel.
Tweet from Matt HintonSo weird.
Maryland has 256 total yards on 14 plays. (More accurately, it has 264 yards on four plays and -8 on the other ten.)
Not if they're 12-1 SEC Champs. Isn't their 3rd-string QB playing right now?Their schedule is terrible. A loss to the citadel will have been one of the worst losses in recent memory. Maybe the worst.
Not sure I've ever seen this before - first play of the game, pick-6 for the Gators! On the kickoff?
Their schedule is terrible. A loss to the citadel will have been one of the worst losses in recent memory. Maybe the worst.Yeah, I don't know how many times I have to say this. It's not just about resume.
Only Mississippi State and LSU are currently ranked and LSU is over-ranked and I’m not sure Miss State should even be ranked. Im pretty sure they won’t finish the regular season ranked.
I don’t know. I wouldn’t put them in if they lost to The Citadel.
On the kickoff?Well the kickoff was fair-caught, so no game time elapsed.
BS PI #1LOL I'm going to guess that no matter what is called on MAryland, it will be BS
I don't believe we will win this. I'm certain of it, but if we do, I'll dismiss my charges against the B1G.I don’t know. Right now Maryland is winning the battle at LOS but more importantly, outsmarting the defensive coaching staff.
I do believe this will end up being a story about how Haskins orchestrated this fantastic comeback against a maligned and torn team, like it means something.
I don’t know. Right now Maryland is winning the battle at LOS but more importantly, outsmarting the defensive coaching staff.Ya I’m not ready to say OSU will win until they can actually stop Maryland from running the ball.
Ya I’m not ready to say OSU will win until they can actually stop Maryland from running the ball.Exactly.
LOL I'm going to guess that no matter what is called on MAryland, it will be BSThat catch shouldn't have even counted though.
BS PI #1True. Maryland just got it back on that flagrant hold that allowed Pigeome to turn that corner.
#2Have to disagree with you on that.
Just when you think Ohio St is going to tie it up and take control...wow.He rarely fumbles, but not a good spot to do it.
Dobbins can’t fumble at that spot. Can’t do it.
Have to disagree with you on that.I mean, only a vast conference conspiracy would allow a ref to throw a flag on a guy for *checks notes* winging his mouth piece across the field to protest the refs
1Unless I missed it, Dobbins has been in for every play but one, and was replaced by McCall. What’s up with Weber.
Pitt losing at Wake Forest is about the most Pitt thing ever.Rook 119 called that happening two weeks ago.
Well an actual zone read3rd one today, plus one by Martell.
Hands to face - every playNot super surprising given OSU has 16 attempts, Maryland 4.
Arm grabbing - every play
It's all of matter of if or when you call them.
#4 PI
Hands to face - every playOn the play they called 66 for holding, which is a good call, they should have called him on the play before. Was pretty flagrant.
Arm grabbing - every play
It's all of matter of if or when you call them.
#4 PI
I honestly don't know why Maryland throws the ballHave to establish the downfield stuff ( for real, as of a few weeks ago they had a passing game that really resembled an option team statistically, which is not the easiest thing to do)
MSU has now beefed two easy touchdowns. Look to those unforced errors when we lose 7-37-6
Why are Nebraska and MSU so reluctant to throw downfield? Are both secondaries really worth avoiding testing? What are they waiting for? Can't block long enough
Not sure how the refs missed the hold on Maryland there, though probably Delaney trying to fool us againYeah, sometimes holding can be tricky tacky and not effect the play much. That one was flagrant and made the play successful.
I hate everyone saying Piggy can't throw. That was a perfect throw. Guy can’t be covered much better.
He proved against Texas he can.
A kicker breaking his own career record twice in the same 4th quarter is about how this season is going.Matt Canada will be available.
Can't ask anymore of our defense. I legitimately might not watch a single game if Warner is back next year.
I mean, practically the entire team moves before the ball is snapped..Yes, I told you, the center isn’t a center, and slow snaps all day long. But it is more of a disadvantage than an advantage, as it allows the defense to move prior to or simultaneous to the snap.
Piggy is the running QB.....Another pretty throw
FFS
Well that seals the deal on anymore conspiracy whining foreverI think that ball landed in my back yard, but sure, he could have caught it
Well that seals the deal on anymore conspiracy whining foreverFor sure. We should never have to here that again
Well that seals the deal on anymore conspiracy whining foreverYou must be talking about your game because you've done a lot of that today yourself.
You must be talking about your game because you've done a lot of that today yourself.Nope. Officials calling OSU for PI on an uncatchable ball.
Maybe officials screwing OSU?
Another fumble forwardSaid it when it benefitted MSU against Maryland, dumbest rule in football. Any fumble recovered by the offense should come back to the point of the fumble.
#25 heldDELANEY!!!!!!!!!!
Yes, I told you, the center isn’t a center, and slow snaps all day long. But it is more of a disadvantage than an advantage, as it allows the defense to move prior to or simultaneous to the snap. That's not a viable explanation.
DELANEY!!!!!!!!!!Yep.
Can't ask anymore of our defense. I legitimately might not watch a single game if Warner is back next year.I am hoping this loss is a blessing in disguise where Dantonio finally parts with drinking buddies who are holding his program back.
Delaney calls for overtimeMaybe. :67:
I have 2 questions:He is an STD
1 - Is the OSU Borland related to the Wisconsin Borland from 5-6 years ago?
2 - Does Meyer have an STD? He keeps picking at his dick every time he's on camera.
I am hoping this loss is a blessing in disguise where Dantonio finally parts with drinking buddies who are holding his program back.I doubt it, Don Treadwell will just leave his advisor role and come back as OC.
I can't believe they went for two. They definitely would have scored another TD to kick off the second OT.Ya. That was dumb.
Piggy morphed back into the non throwing QB at the worst possible moment.Thought you knew something about football.
Thought you knew something about football.Personal attacks, nice move for you.
The WR should have slid with the QB. Freshman mistake.
Well, they had a chance, and those 2 couldn't seal it.
F*** Haskins.
Good game though.
Personal attacks, nice move for you.LOL! HUH?
Yes, ideally. He was still open where he stood. And I've been the one for weeks saying Piggy was the right call.
I can't believe they went for two. They definitely would have scored another TD to kick off the second OT.They never scored the first one.
Oh man, Harbaugh benched his sleeping bag buddy?About f’in time. Kid is a headcase.
Didn't say it bothered me, but that's all it was. When out of arguments it's not a bad fallback, I get itWhat a reach.
I have 2 questions:No. Tuf is from Illinois and his father played for Wisconsin. That's the shitty part.
1 - Is the OSU Borland related to the Wisconsin Borland from 5-6 years ago?
2 - Does Meyer have an STD? He keeps picking at his dick every time he's on camera.
What a reach.I'll try
I've been taking the heat all day. Stop crying.
Wow, Michigan could not have mismanaged that moreYeah that was pathetic. The entire first half was pathetic.
IU’s RBs have been very good. Get Mike Hart on staff at halftime. It killed me to see him on the IU sideline when they showed him on the telecast. This guy belongs in Ann Arbor full time as Michigan’s RBs coach.
Joel Klatt is so full of shitWhat'd he say?
What'd he say? That UM fans were rooting for OSU to win today so that next week would determine the title.
OMG just got back from the sports Bar. That was one h3ll an intense game. It seemed like all the breaks went the Terps way.Closer than I expected and a good game where both teams got screwed a good bit.
When did the rule change that you can fumble forward?
Does Meyer have an STD? He keeps picking at his dick every time he's on camera.Ya something he picked up in Gainesville
The IU player kicking the as it was spotted should have neen a delay penaltyYa how that goes uncalled is beyond me.
The IU player kicking the ball as it was spotted should have neen a delay penaltyYup. Granted you can see why they are a national title contender in soccer.
Throw to Black in end zone was PIYup. Said the same thing. He got bumped by the IU DB way before the ball ever got there.
Ya how that goes uncalled is beyond me.These weren't even Pac 12 refs.
The official was literally right there when the kid kicked the ball. Saw the whole thing. No flag. Crazy.
Colorado State had a hail Mary win over Utah State negated because the receiver stepped out of bounds.it would have been painful for Utah state to lose when a guy steps out of bounds.... glad they got it right.
Well Winovich would be a significant loss for The Game for pure BSIndiana has been dirty the entire game. Disgusting.
it would have been painful for Utah state to lose when a guy steps out of bounds.... glad they got it right. On this day?
I would hate to have my team lose on that kind of missed call.
this ref crew is easily the worst in the B1G.LOL. Welcome to the club!
Just saw on that Maryland two point conversion attempt, Maryland's tackle came down and blocked the safety, which was what made the Maryland guy (very illegally) wide open. Delany!!!!!Just take solace in the fact that you escaped with a win vs a team going through turmoil, media scrutiny, no HC coach, transfers and decommits, and uncertainty.
this ref crew is easily the worst in the B1G.The Crew in College Park would beg to differ.
Bearcats not ready for prime timeDefense might be.
Bearcats not ready for prime timeGot a little better after getting two false starts before a second ticked off.
Clemson down 6-0 to Duke after 1On offense Duke's playcalling has been terrible. Deon Jackson is arguably the best RB in the ACC and he's only carried it 5 times (for 39 yards). They aren't running the clock and snapping it w/ 25 sec on the play clock. They should be up by at least 7-10 in the 1st half.
So... If anyone can kick a ball Cincinnati is looking for a kicker. They can have Quinn Nordin.
Omg feel bad for Berkley Edwards and Chase Winovich.Did CH break his collarbone?Tough break literally,That guy that took out Edwards should have his Schollie revoked. From what I saw it appeared he could have taken down the ball carrier and instead took a guy out.No wonder Wilson was getting rough with these guys and he got fired. They almost break one guys neck and another guys collarbone.I think Edwards will be OK it appeared his feet/legs were moving
Pretty sure Berkley has a spinal cord injury and Chase broke his collarbone. Ugh. Feel terrible for those guys and their families.
At a time when style matters, the Irish smacked #13 Syracuse around. Recall that Clemson beat the Orange by four at home. The Irish could be the team to challenge Bama.Thought the Orangemen might give them a game
The Irish could be the team to challenge Bama.Thought the Orangemen might give them a gameEven though last years UCF was better, I do think UCF matches up well against Bama. Good running game. Spread team QB who can run and pass well, speed everywhere on offense.
OU is #1 in the BigXII and everything, but they gave up 40 points to Kansas. WTFTheir defense is like all time bad.
Their defense is like all time bad. You'd have Alabama.
If you combined their offense with like Michigan State or LSU’s Defense- that’d be a hell of a team.
These are things I probably should have thought about before this morning.I have some experience and am sorry I missed this. Hope it went OK and the food was good. (For others reference, usually 2-3 hours in the AM, plus whatever time the party is at night if they have one. When I was young the default gift was $18, but that might've changed)
The Crew in College Park would beg to differ.the crew in Lincoln didn't have a good day
I’m 100% convinced Harbaugh has some sort of slight mental disability. He’s just not normal in any way period.the truth
So, to steal a line from a homer board, Jonathan Taylor was just a motherf***er, but in a good way. I've seen a lot of good backs at UW. In my first game on campus, Brian Calhoun ran for 258 and 5 TDs, and what we saw yesterday might be the best game I've seen a Badgers back have.I was not able to see any games again but I wish I'd seen this. Taylor is going to end up as the best TB running back to ever play at Wisconsin. The kid can go well over 4K yards this year, which smashes Ron Dayne's 2 year record of 3600 or so. I don't think he breaks the overall record, because he's gone after next season.
Beautiful part of the world. Post a photo if not too inconvenient.
Will you be able to see smoke? So I was wrong re: smoke... Definitely impacted everything. It didn't smell smoky, but there was a heavy haze everywhere.
So I was wrong re: smoke... Definitely impacted everything. It didn't smell smoky, but there was a heavy haze everywhere.I love that area. Thanks for the pic!
In the below pick you can make out the hills in the background. On a normal day, they're vibrant green and clear.

Idaho just iced their own kicker. FFSSo James Franklin isn't the only one?
Bwar,After enough wine, it's easy to forget about air quality. :)
I was standing behind a tourist in line on Wednesday and thinking about his predicament. He came from further away than you, but either way, it's a drag to come to such a beautiful place in the one week (10 days? Hopefully not more) that it is covered with abysmal air quality and smoke from the Camp Fire. Just Brutal.

Wow, football is a thing at NW, who knew? When do they expand their stadium to 100 K?Maybe when their (own fans) average hits 25K?
Good stuff.
Maybe when their (own fans) average hits 25K?Indiana says "why wait?"
This may exceed the demand for Iowa v MSU. I still plan to scalp.Wait, you're going to be around? I thought it was off this season??
Indiana says "why wait?"Hah!
Wait, you're going to be around? I thought it was off this season??While our house won't be done til spring, I have some Northwestern alum friends which are going. They are locals here. Next year I'll be ready to host something for BiG ccg.
