UT gonna mop the floor with pachyderm innards!!! Casual observers unaware, UT has been laying low for years in preparation for this- the pure and unadulterated hatred for all things Bama (except for poaching their staff from time to time) led to the unorthodox strategy of rope-a-doping and opposum'ing, and taking down the mighty Tide when they'd least expect it and affecting the maximum damage and embarrassment.
Book it. either:
Bama 17; UT 52 or Bama 52; UT 17 ...... one or the other, Bama...
UT will break Bama's fists (using their face's). It's ON.

One of your "predictions" is going to get crunched.

crunched indeed.

I noticed that Fat Bastard aka Philip Fulmer has gotten into the fray with some negative ditty about the state of Alabama. I don't think anyone ever accused him of being intelligent, but p I s s I n g off Alabama the week of the game is not smart.

eh- ol' phil is in attempt to recover the rivalry, which hasn't been one for quite some time. i wonder how ticket sales are going for that game? i imagine the stadium sold out, but.... the interest in the program is under assault, and nobody in orange really wants to see the beat down that is about to happen. gotta make it interesting somehow, maybe?

Oh, sorry.....3rd Saturday in October, I thought we were talking about LSU/Clanga.

Going into the 1971 game the Alabama-Tennessee series was tied 23-23-7. Starting with that 1971 game and counting the original 1993 tie as a forfeit to Tennessee, Alabama has won 32 times to Tennessee's 15.
The score of the 1971 game? 32-15 Bama!

bama wins big.
i'm running out of cigars, gonna have to make a stop and pick up another couple boxes.
@Drew4UTk (https://www.cfb51.com/index.php?action=profile;u=1) :098::tool: (also, i thought we had a smoking/cigar smiley, did we not? we need one)

Tennessee is hanging in there more than I expected. I'm going to give Pruitt plaudits for being better than Jones. Yay.
I have not seen them quit this year on the field. Their OL is still a mess though.
Does anyone think they could beat Alabama's second and third strings?
-
Y'all dont believe me. It is so. UT wins. Uhem.... Uh..., I feel dirty not saying it.. Still.. UT gonna hang 35 on bama's 31... Really... Not really. Uhem, well, you know...

I read that Saban is 11-0 vs UTenn. That’s a tough stretch. I can’t imagine being in the middle of a losing streak like that. We went a good while winless vs OU and Texas during the 00’s but not that bad.
I figure Bama averages a loss per year might as well be this week.
UTenn 28 Bama 27.
-
Ouch. 12 in a row.
-
Instead of Roll Tide the BAMMERS should be yelling If You Ain't Cheatin', You Ain't Winning.
I would like to know how much they spend on steroids and performance enhancement drugs annually probably more than some schools entire football budget.
-
For the record, thats the last time UT takes it easy on Bama.
-
UT vs BAMA hasn't been a rivalry since Doug Dickey was head coach.
BAMA dominated the series while both Battle and Majors were the coaches, then UT dominated when Fulmer was coach, now BAMAs back to dominating again.
So it isn't a rivalry unless both teams can win every year or so and why we kept them on the schedule is ridiculous.
The conference should be the same for everyone, play everyone in your division annually and everyone in the other division on a rotating basis.
Personally I wouldn't kill a snake trying to crawl out of Alabama and I sure as hell never cared about watching them play football.
-
Fact:
Tennessee is 2-26 vs Florida and Alabama in the last 14 years.

it's been tough to be a Tennessee fan, but that is what I am and will be. Under Pruitt, I think there is hope for some recovery but I still think opportunity to beat both UF and Bama in the same season (never mind UGA) is still several seasons away, and will absolutely correlate with one of those teams having a down season... guess which @OrangeAfroMan (https://www.cfb51.com/index.php?action=profile;u=58) ? :smiley_confused1:

sad state of affairs when a vol is calling for the end to the 3rd sat in oct. never thought i'd see that.
it is a rivalry of streaks, though. typically it's been 3-5 wins streaks, but the last few have been long streaks for each team. obviously both teams having arguably their worst period in their respective history while their rival is on a hot streak has a lot to do with that.

pruitt is laying the foundation for a return to relevance. he's recruiting well, and in the right places (oline and dline). something butch and dooley either couldn't or just didn't.
he's also put a lot of fire in them. despite the score, they didn't seem to give up and just go through the motions on sat. i think he's at least moving in the right direction. if he can fully achieve that return is yet to be seen, but like i said, he's laying the right foundation for it.

It'll be interesting to see what happens with Bama when Saban leaves and Dabo doesn't come home. What's to stop them from the Mike Shula years? Recent programs trying to replace a legend haven't fared too well.

This has been my gripe since it started - the 4 programs holding the rest of the conference hostage.
Bama-Tenn
UGA-AU
Bama-AU
Those 3 games have required the rest of the conference to invent "rivalries" and caused a drastic inequality in scheduling.
-
Recent programs trying to replace a legend haven't fared too well.
We recently replaced our best coach in program history with Ole Miss' worst.
-
UGA
.707 Dooley
replaced with
.462 Goff
UF
.879 Spurrier
replaced with
.667 Zook
-----------------
.735 Meyer
replaced with
.531 Muschamp
ALA
.824 Bryant
replaced with
.677 Perkins
-----------------
.713 Stallings
replaced with
.510 DuBose
A&M
.721 Slocum
replaced with
.533 Franchione
UT
.831 Neyland
replaced with
.444 Britton
--------------
.742 Fulmer
replaced with
.500 Kiffin
Now Auburn (Dye-Bowden) is an exception. And LSU is (so far) on a 3-coach winning streak (Saban-Miles-Orgeron).
-
Kinda funny to include Richt being replaced with Smart in that comparison.

I could also cite that the only 2 losing seasons of Florida football in the last 30 - beat Tennessee both those dreadful years.
-

You could do that, but I'm not sure Smart has coached enough games yet to determine anything.
****win% listed are for SEC games only

I opine that Tennessee is on an upward trajectory, but in part that is because 0-8 in conference last year is, well, not very high.
Jones really was not a good coach, duh. Pruitt may learn his way there, but at least he is hard nosed.
