Title: 2018 MAACCtion Thread
Post by: ELA on September 13, 2018, 07:39:39 PM
A lot more offense in this BC-WF game than I anticipated.  The BC QB is legit.  They might be the one good thing I picked in my countdown, having them top 20.  This kid and Dillon will pressure a lot of defenses.  Not enough to win the division

BC wins, Charlotte wins, and the Blue Aggies are rolling at halftime.

Starting to pick up this week.

Thursday has a pair of divisional match ups with Tulsa @ Houston, and GA State @ Troy

Friday is a little better with USU @ BYU, GA Tech @ Louisville, and an Appalachian hoedown featuring MTSU @ Marshall.

Toledo wins the Battle of I-75.

(Not a weekday game, but best place to park a Mac Trophy game result. )

There's no excuse for our offense to be this pathetic, while our senior QB has made some bad throws our boneheaded OC by far takes the brunt of the blame. No excuse we aren't up by two scores right now.

Bryce Love is why every single RB should go pro the second he can.

ASU played pretty well, they just shot themselves in the foot a couple times, and Stanford was able to cap the two good second half drives they had in the end zone

What happened at Buffalo is kinda remarkable. They did a kinda short-sighted firing of a coach who went 8-5 and then started 3-4. They hired a super successful coach who had three years as a D-1 assistant and most of his success on he D-III level, and now they’re 9-1.

Sports are weird.

The Mac race is all but wrapped up. Neither of today's games are relevant to the divisional races.

East
Buffalo holds a two game lead over both Miami and Ohio. They already beat Miami. They do play @ Ohio on Wednesday. Even if they lose that game, all they have to do is make a two foot put against Bowling Green in their finale in order to win the division outright.
/In the unlikely event that the Bulls lose both games, Ohio would have to beat Akron in their finale, and Miami could still force a three way Rock Paper Scissors tie (all 3 going 1-1 vs each other) by beating both NIU (unlikely) and Ball St.
.
West
NIU holds a two game lead over second place Western in the West Division.
/They still play each other in the finale, which "could" be for the West IF NIU loses to Miami on Wednesday after Western beats Ball St on Tuesday.

Title: Re: 2018 MAACCtion Thread

NIU is lucky that they clinched the West when Ball knocked off Western, because they just dropped a home game to the Redhawks.

Buffalo failed to clinch against Ohio big time, so they will have to wait until next week when they play 2-8 Bowling Green on the road.

Ohio and Miami kept their slim title hopes alive. In the unlikely event that Buffalo barfs up a road game vs BG, Ohio and Miami could each win a share of the East by beating Akron and @ Ball St respectively.

The Bulls would win a H-H tiebreaker vs Miami, and they'd lose one to Ohio.

If Bowling Green, Miami and Ohio all win, you'll have the dreaded three way tie whereby all three teams went 1-1 against each other.

The Redhawks have to win the Red Bird Trophy in order to become Bowl eligible.

Final Week

Tue
Miami @ Ball St - Redbird Trophy
NIU @ Western

Fri
Central @ Toledo
Akron @ Ohio
Eastern @ Kent
Buffalo @ Bowling Green
.
IF Buffalo beats Bowling Green, then the Mac Championship Game will not feature a team from Ohio or Michigan for just the second time in its history.

The only other time that it happened was clear back in 2008, when Turner Gill's Buffalo Bulls boat raced Brady Hoke's Ball St Cardinals 42-24.

Miami needs a win in order to obtain Bowl Eligibility.

If Akron beats Ohio then they'll wish that they'd've played that winnable Nebraska game, because instead they'll have to beat USCe next week in order to become bowl eligible.
