I've OD'd on fish this past week, a night of red meat for this house. How were the Provinces MH?
Terps just score 6 on 40 yd runWho was that #6 for 40 more yards?
Who was that #6 for 40 more yards? Why does he only have 10 carries?
Why does he only have 10 carries?Keep them fresh.
The East is looking freaking toughYes it is.
Stinks that I can watch Penn St-Akron but not Texas-Maryland.Ditto
GO TURTLES!I honestly didn't see this one.
I honestly didn't see this one. Many of us didn't. Darn helmets getting over ranked....
You know football is back when Michigan fans start blaming the refs.I guess the same can be said about the inflammatory arrogance of 90% of buckeye fans.
You know football is back when Michigan fans start blaming the refs.Ha!
Ummm....why wasn't that a TD? Great play by Speight and Crawford wiped away for.....what?Don't worry, you're just a Michigan fan complaining about the refs
Don't worry, you're just a Michigan fan complaining about the refsAhhh, the smell of autumn
Don't worry, you're just a Michigan fan complaining about the refsI missed first one but that was a ticky tack call at best and just bad call in reality.
How were the Provinces MH?
How were the Provinces MH?I caught at least one of each species, which is always a goal. I slayed the Lake Trout and Northern Pike, the later of which is a guarantee where we fish. Great new techniques for the trout. Had to grind for the Muskie and crappie. Bass and walleye were easy to find.
Michigan controlling the game on both LOS and Speight throws a pick 6. Deja vu.Speight has air mailed everything. Yes it hit the hands, but it was an athletic play just to get his hands on the ball. Speight hasn't looked great. Even the td pass was poor. It took forever to get there and black was wide open.
Not entirely his fault. WR shoulda caught it but that ball was a little high.

Michigan controlling the game on both LOS and Speight throws a pick 6. Deja vu.Looked like the classic tip drill only to the wrong guy.WOW
Not entirely his fault. WR shoulda caught it but that ball was a little high.
Michigan controlling the game on both LOS and Speight throws a pick 6. Deja vu.Both dlines are controlling los imo.
Not entirely his fault. WR shoulda caught it but that ball was a little high.
Speight sucks. Bench time.Never understood why Michigan went out of their way to Richmond and recruited Speight at all. No other competitive offers to speak of. And that's the big thing holding back the Harbaugh tenure at this point: A killer instinct QB.
A couple of ranked teams are in trouble.if you're gonna pull a shocker (e.g. Maryland > Texas), week 1 is the time to do it
Stony Brook is beating S Florida, and W Michigan is beating USC. Yes, that USC.
Boise has their hands full with Troy.
if you're gonna pull a shocker (e.g. Maryland > Texas), week 1 is the time to do itTrue dat!
- everyone's rusty and hasn't figured things out yet
C'mon. How is Speight the best option? Watching him is tortureO'Korn sucks. That's why.
Thorson QB sneak is successful!
Aggressive rolling of the dice pays dividends this time
PAT is good
Nevada 20
NU 24
- go 'Cats!
I like the Ballz!!
My god Speight is freaking awful. Crawford all alone with a walk-in TD and he throws that garbage ass pass.Ya know when Crawford hooked around a db and floated outside there were a whole shitload of bodies between the 2.Seriously from his angle he didn't have a clear view.Spreight did a good job calling an audible and M just seals the victory
The Gators aren't lookin' so hot this year.Yet they'll still probably win the East then get slaughtered by BAMA in the CCG
Good win for the cats. Impressive win by Michigan IMO. Maryland with the best win of all so far-great job there! Penn State looks like they picked up right where they left off. MSU got going too. Let's see how the Huskers do tonight.Michigan is similar team to last year. They'll have all the pieces except for the most important one- a QB.
Tough conference man.
Yet they'll still probably win the East then get slaughtered by BAMA in the CCGthe UF D flashed and looked great, at times.... they'll be very good by week 3.
Michigan is similar team to last year. They'll have all the pieces except for the most important one- a QB.Agreed. Top 5 team if they had a qb. Probably top 15 with what they have. Did DPJ line up at receiver today? Was he thrown to at all? Looked incredibly athletic on returns.
DittoDo people not get FS1?
Arkansas State is legitClassic Week 1 comment, lol.
Ummm....why wasn't that a TD? Great play by Speight and Crawford wiped away for.....what?I haven't been on the site today, but that one didn't make sense to me. Illegal man downfield when he was clearly in motion, in the backfield, and *not* covered up.
Classic Week 1 comment, lol.Lol
I haven't been on the site today, but that one didn't make sense to me. Illegal man downfield when he was clearly in motion, in the backfield, and *not* covered up.The refs screwed up the number, it was a ticky-tack call on the slot WR not stepping back off the LOS enough, not the guy in motion.
What does the 5th place team in the West get?An overnight in Lincoln, Nebraska. I have my power rankings ready to post. Nebraska is my 5th place west division winner!
An overnight in Lincoln, Nebraska. I have my power rankings ready to post. Nebraska is my 5th place west division winner!Awesome! At least the Huskers won't have to travel far!
UNL, Minnie and Illinois fans are not happy today. But you should see the Purdue Message boards. Even after a loss, this is the most excited the fan base has been in 4+ years. The fan base knows there is something different about this coach and his staff.
Purdue's in trouble. Most people believed they were in trouble just walking into the stadium with Louisville. And yet Purdue led the game in the fourth.
From the sounds of a lot of posts in this thread, it seems that the QB guru in Ann Arbor needs to start doing some guru or whispering or something. If a certain qb is marched out all season, there will be many that lose faith that the guru is still a guru at that position. First few years get a pass, year 3 should see some drastic improvement. Last night did not give any hope to that.

Purdue: 1-0 in moral victories!

Last night did not give any hope to that.On the bright side JH stuck with his boys and they road the storm out. After 2 straight Pick 6's then a blocked punt they could have mailed it in.I know I was thinking holy hell.In the end it was a confidence builder IMO
Which of tonight's games are you more excited about?I'll go with the game played in a home venue.
aTm @ Ucla?
Or W Virginia @ VA Tech?
Aggies-Bruins probably has more National appeal due to the names involved, but both teams are ranked in the Appalachian showdown.
/So I'm going with the Shenandoah Shootout.
//Hopefully it doesn't become the Blue Ridge Blowout.
Is Byu this bad? Is it the fact that they are in New Orleans? They're probably a bowl team. Not great, not horrible. I think they'll reach ~7 wins this year. This next stretch for the Cougs will telling. I've got Wisconsin marked as a definite L, the rest may be winnable.
From the sounds of a lot of posts in this thread, it seems that the QB guru in Ann Arbor needs to start doing some guru or whispering or something.he's doing the best he can with what he has.
I only caught a few series 0f Wyoming/Iowa.That Josh Allen can rifle the rock.Barring injury he'll be under center somewhere in the Sunday Leaguelot of talk he might be the #1 pick in the 2018 NFL draft. Will be either him or Darnold from USC.
Is it true BYU didn't cross the 50 at all vs LSU??It's kind of our thing in the Superdome, although the last time we were there we were on the receiving end of it most of the night.
In the "Recruit way better than they perform" Bowl we have Sumlin vs Mora in Pasadena. UCLA moved down the field on Rosen's arm on their opening drive but sputtered in the red zone, settling for a FG.I think Harbaugh would give up wearing khaki's to have Rosen as his QB for this season.

rtf4 says it's that time of the year when TAMU pretends they are a top 5 team for the first 5 weeks.I can't but help recall them opening the 2014 season by heading to USCe and giving them an ass whipping and shooting way up the rankings.
I'll go with the game played in a home venue.Looks like a bad choice.
FSU QB Francois out for the year. Ouch. That's a huge blow for FSU.According to Bamaonline:
Let the "Chip Kelly to UCLA" rumors commence!Chip Kelly to aTm?
So does the old standard apply that Paul Johnson's attack is easily shut down by those with more than a week to prepare? Not when Butch Jones is the coach preparing.
So Oregon puts 77 on S.Utah I believe.Weren't their fans screaming after tOSU put a TD on them in the last minute - because they wouldn't take a knee?I understand they prolly had their scrubs in and are trying to rebiuld.Still something to remember next time they get waxed703 yards in a 77-20 win over Southern Utah on Saturday night. That included 52 rushes for 348 yards.
In attendance at the WVU-VaTech game last night. Always impressed with how well Tech fans show up for their neutral site games. First half was mostly defense until the offenses got carried away in the second half. WVU's QB had a Favre type game, slinging it all over the place while making plays with his feet and holding up threw some big hits. The Mountaineers defense though cost them the game down the stretch, as they couldn't match the momentum of the offense. WVU lost but they'll be fine once Big 12 play rolls around. Not so sure about Tech given their harder schedule that picks up quick.tell ya what I'd take that Tech QB right about now. Kid grew up in Ann Arbor and his pops coached at Michigan for 20 years. Shame he didn't wind up a Wolverine.
Be real nice if the 'Skers could register a "W" hereyup, Big Ten looked pretty solid the past few days
Caught the replay on the final drive Purdue can hold their heads up.L'ville isn't an easy out and the Boilers gave them a scrum.Didn't see the contest however Boilers going to contiue with 2 QB's?Not sure what Purdue is doing at the QB position. Blough was injured in camp (shoulder), so there is speculation that Sindelar started to try to keep Blough fresh. But then when Sindelar struggled, Blough came in, so he was clearly "OK enough" to play. He looked good, too. The offense really started moving with him. But after 2 picks, Sindelar came back in for Blough and looked a lot more sharp as well.
As stunning as it was to watch UCLA's comeback, it really shouldn't have been. This has been Aggie's m.o. for most of Sumlin's tenure. Get out to a big lead then completely implode in 4th quarters. This has happened to them a lot more than just last night. I don't know if it's conditioning, mental, or what, but they are the current kings of failing to close games out.Sumlin is a drunk. coaches sober first half, goes into the locker-room at half, has a couple then rest is history.

So... We'll see? Probably have to wait for some of the quotes from the coaching staff through the week to understand why they made the rotation they made.
So does the old standard apply that Paul Johnson's attack is easily shut down by those with more than a week to prepare?Easily shut down remains a silly overstatement.
You'd have thought Hazel was still running things. Not quite. I'd like to think Brohm at least has reasons for playing both QBs. But of course that remains to be seen...

tell ya what I'd take that Tech QB right about now. Kid grew up in Ann Arbor and his pops coached at Michigan for 20 years. Shame he didn't wind up a Wolverine. Not enough starz to earn himself a man-boy sleepover
After getting my first look at Tech's QB, this probably goes badly.I was incorrect.
rtf4 says it's that time of the year when TAMU pretends they are a top 5 team for the first 5 weeks.guess they decided to go ahead and get the collapse out of the way in the first 4... quarters.
^isn't it about time for Lame Kitten to find a new home?I really want to see the Badgers accelerate his departure from FAU first.
According to Bamaonline:bama had 5 lb's get hurt. 2 out for season, 2 out for 2-4 weeks, and 1 is day to day. good news for bama is lb is loaded, even by bama standards.Alabama outside linebackers Christian Miller and Terrell Lewis are expected to miss the rest of the 2017 season, BamaOnLine has learned. AL.com's Matt Zenitz was first to report.Miller, a redshirt junior, was listed as the team's starting Sam linebacker on the Tide's preseason depth chart. Lewis, a sophomore, was expected to make a significant contribution.Evidently there was some hitting going on
tell ya what I'd take that Tech QB right about now. Kid grew up in Ann Arbor and his pops coached at Michigan for 20 years. Shame he didn't wind up a Wolverine.
This is going to sound like sour grapes but hopefully I've built enough equity on here that people will know it isn't. Jackson played well but the jury should still be out on him.
Almost every big pass play Tech hit came off a blown assignment or an overreaction to a PA fake or pump and go off a bubble screen look or something like that. WVU gambles and guesses a lot and when it works it looks good. When it doesn't you have receivers running 10-15 yards behind the nearest defender. Even the nice runs he made were off fakes in the zone read game where big lanes opened up.
He was poised and didn't make any major mistakes. He played well but while Grier was going through read progressions and throwing darts into tight windows Jackson was throwing lollipops to his primary reads who were wide open due to play design, blown assignments, or both. Jackson might end up being a great college QB but he didn't need to be great to make the plays available to him Sunday night.

Clemson can cement itself as the ACC favorite if it beats Auburn at home this weekend.

I saw that, but the FSU QB's injury hogged up all the headlines Sunday morning. Clemson can cement itself as the ACC favorite if it beats Auburn at home this weekend.thank you! said this last year and all off season as well. we have a 1000 yard back returning, and it isn't bo.
And yes, Bama should be fine. The defense looks as strong as ever (you can place a team full of All Americans on offense - heck, maybe even mix in some NFL journeymen in there - and they still won't be able to run the ball on the Bama front 7). Florida State did put up much more of a fight than the final score would indicate, as they kept the Bama O in check, but you just can't give them short field after short field after short field and expect the D to hold each and every time).
And FWIW, Damien Harris is Bama's best back. Bo S. is good, but he's not Derrick Henry.
How many wins at the expense of Bama would you consider "fluky" since 2010 or so? Both Auburn's Iron Bowl wins seem to be 'fluky'. Oklahoma lucked out because they played a very disinterested Bama in the '14 Sugar Bowl. Bama was one last stop from beating Clemson last year.?
The only game that comes to mind where Bama really got beat straight-up was, funnily enough, at the hands of Ohio State in the '15 Sugar Bowl. No, it wasn't "ownage" (and I use that term lightly, because if Bama really wanted to be there, the final score likely would have been reversed in favor of Bama) like the previous year's Sugar Bowl, but Ohio State did not need luck to beat Bama that time.

One of the Ole Miss games with a ridiculous amount of crazy turnovers, the aforementioned A&M game, and the 2013 Auburn game...largely well played by Auburn, but I'm forced to admit winning on a kick-6 is crazy and not likely to be repeated in 10 tries. Oklahoma and the rest of them in that time span, you just have to give credit to the other teams. It's erroneous to guess at Alabama's interest level against the Sooners, I have no way of knowing, and I give Bama's players and coaching staff more credit than that. OU played on fire that night, just like Watson and Clemson did, I think they just get due credit. Ole Miss mostly just played a better game the other time they beat them, it happens. LSU won because up until 2-3 years ago, LSU's roster = their roster, albeit with serious deficiencies at QB, but those aren't flukes, it's just a great roster accustomed to operating a game plan hiding terrible QB play. That's all the teams I can think of to beat them in that time frame.

The comment about Ohio State is baffling. It was the playoffs, and the first year of the playoffs at that. I can't imagine Alabama wanting to be anywhere else.
