I think Jackson was ahead of his time. Glad people recognized this despite unremarkable total catch #s. He averaged 24ypc I believe his final season, was very fast.

Jackson is helped in this vote by the other 2 "biggies" having a low level of competition. Moss would've played at ND or FSU if he had his head on straight as a youth. As it was, he was an all-time talent playing against the likes of Army and East Carolina. He also had above-level QBs throwing to him (FLA transfer Kresser, then Chad Pennington).

Well now, Moss' college career, given where he ended up, was basically as good as it possibly could have been. So there's that.

Keith Jackson: 4 years (84-87): 65 catches, 1,561 yards , (24.0 ypc), 15 TDs. 21 rushes, 298 yards, 4 TDs.
Those #s look like a great single season when viewed with today's lens.
2 time Consensus AA. I still think he's the best TE I've seen in College.
Now, I can think of two games during that career where OU didn't throw a single pass. OU didn't attempt 100 passes as a team in either 1986 or 1987. They probably didn't throw more than about 5 passes a game, in many games. Like some of the GaTech WRs (Calvin, etc.) he got into physical mismatches and got single coverage in hitch and go, fly, and post routes.
IIRC, Jackson's Mom is what persuaded him to go to OU. She loved Switzer.

Yeah, that's the issue with Moss. Not only was he playing in the MAC (actually 1AA for his first 1 or 2 years), but it's not like he had MAC level QBs. It was a big time QB-WR combo playing against MAC schools. Same with Rice, whose QB I believe also had a cup of coffee in the NFL.
I kind of have to defer to other and what they say about Jackson, because the numbers are the numbers, and he was slightly before my time. IMO people are sleeping on Marshall here too, but I've heard, long before this vote, people who believed Jackson was the greatest TE of all time. So that means something to me. The funny thing it you probably have the two guys who would lead an NFL vote for greatest WR of all time, and it's not like their college careers were anything to slouch at, but they did it at such a low level.

His greatest hits in beating Nebraska twice, 88yd reverse in '85, the circus catch in '86 on 3rd and a mile in the closing minute, the TD catch from just a minute earlier.
Two great catches against Miami, including one on a beautiful pass from one Freshman Troy Aikman.
Of course it has his bomb post route TD vs Penn St in Orange Bowl which led to MNC.
His speed for such a big guy was something else. I can't believe how hard I'm pimping a Sooner.
