Title: BYU vs LSU
Post by: Drew4UTk on September 02, 2017, 10:16:27 AM
gameday is calling for BYU to win?
methinks they're disrespecting those tigers... how can they ignore the talent on that team?
this is a case of allowing abrasive personalities (coach Ed) impact good reason...

LSU ought to handle BYU handily.

thoughts?

Only Corso picked BYU on the Gameday picks.  Dez, Kirk and whoever the guest was all picked LSU, fwiw.

At least half of the fanbase had to be experiencing some kind of pulmonary embolism....that game was more Milesian than any game Miles ever actually coached.  Run, run, run, run some more, pass if necessary, run again, Guice dive, Guice off tackle, Guice with green eggs and ham...  For all the window dressing, the offense was shockingly familiar.  Except for the QB who looked pretty decent on 14/17.  I sure was expecting more than 17 attempts in a game where we had the ball for over 41 minutes.

BYU had more points than rushing yards  :smiley_confused1:

Rather good effort for a defense missing so many starters due to the suspensions, and also Arden Key who's not back from surgery yet.  BYU will probably be a bowl team, so it wasn't nothing.  I have to wonder if Greedy Williams took Kevin Toliver's job last night.  Toliver might really regret his suspension.  Greedy looked...well...when he made the INT, he was greedy, I guess.

Last season in year 1 under DC Aranda LSU allowed only 16 TDs, a national best (suck it Bama) (5 of them against A&M, sigh.  That means other than the cow-humpers we allowed 11 TDs in 11 other games).  But we were also last when it came to FGs allowed.  But top ten in ypp allowed.  One might expect improvements in year 2, but we did lose a lot of great guys from last year's defense.  The noobs and the frosh played great yesterday, but BYU isn't some offensive juggernaut either.  If we can roughly hold serve while cutting down on FG attempts allowed, that's a success imo.

It was a good start, albeit a bit of a baffling one.  Next week isn't gonna tell us much.  Clanga coming up in week 3, we'll start to know more then.
