My two favorite non-Gators college football players growing up were Rocket Ismail and Desmond Howard. Howard's diving, 4th-down TD catch late vs ND is still my favorite moment ever.
In looking at 1991 Michigan's stats and some youtube videos, the 2nd-leading receiver for the Wolverines that year was Yale Van Dyne. Anybody know anything about him? He only played 2 years. His name is unique and as a white WR, that was unique as well.
I don't recall his name at the time, whatsoever. Does anybody have anything to add?

Derrick Alexander had a season ending injury in the opener at Boston College. He obviously went on to a great UM career, and a pretty solid NFL one.
He was expected to be the #2 WR that year obviously. Walter Smith was a true freshman, who had a solid, but overall disappointing career based on expectations. I feel like his biggest claim to fame was he was the athlete on the back cover or the opening menu or something of one of the Bill Walsh College Football games.
As for Yale Van Dyne, I guess he was sort of forced into the role. UM had a dynamic 1-2 pair, with nothing behind them. I recall the name now that you bring it up, but wouldn't have thought of it on my own in a million years otherwise. Alexander got healthy for '92, Walter Smith was a year older; they added Amani Toomer and Mercury Hayes as freshmen that year I think; plus maybe moving Jay Riemersma to TE?

It's just weird for such a random oddity like Van Dyne to be opposite the Heisman winner, lol.
