That is a hell of a list of players there.  Three Heisman trophy winners, two number one overall picks, and two other guys who went in the top 5.

I went with JFF as well.  I watched all these guys in college, Couch less so.   Cam was amazing, but not enough where one season trumps the other guys.  Deion and Woodson speak for themselves, and I feel the same way about Champ Bailey (on the #4 vote) who for reasons which escape me, got muted love for Heisman consideration, immediately following Woodson, despite arguably better play.  QBs have inherent advantage of being in a position of greater influence, and JFF was non-stop entertainment and great moments.

Really hard to punish Deion and Woodson for that, as they are both all-timers.

I think the A&M Asshat could have played a lot of positions, other than QB. That's why I place him above the rest of these very excellent players. He was a great football player. And an Asshat.

I guessed Johnny was the ass hat - bingo

I voted for Woodson - Charles could have probably been a pretty good option QB - much better athlete and football player than Johnny the asshat

If Charles could have been a QB, he would have been one. Remember all those people who wanted to put Vince Young at WR or something other than QB?
No. F'n. Way.
When your best football player can play QB.. You play him at QB.

There's definitely lurkers here.
I wish more would start posing again. Drew didn't waste his time and his (and mine) money to have 4 people here talking to each other.

Best #22 was the Round Mound of Touchdown.

Ehhh, a VAST majority of elite skill position players at helmet schools played a lot of QB at their HS, because they could just dominate the field.  There's one starting QB spot on a college football team and 25 guys who could do well there.

I went Cam. He has a good case for best QB season ever.

Wanted to vote Deon, maybe Woodson. But Cam was just bonkers.

I had to go with Woodson on this, although he played for that team up north. However, he worthy of the vote.

A little side bar here, but I officiated a couple of his games his senior year in HS. He was definitely a man amongst boys.

perhaps character flaws shouldn't be part of the equation in best ever voting, but I'm not rewarding guys like Johnny and Cam with my vote.
regardless of stats

Hasn't seemed to hinder Vick in the #7 voting...

So it's when you're a dope?  You know it's hard to get a good dog-fighting ring going before you sign a million-dollar contract.....

lol

well, yes, the timeline is important

there's a college career and college stats

NFL stats or success or lack thereof shouldn't be a factor

OJ Simpson wasn't a murderer at USC as far as we know

Lawrence Phillips obviously had issues with violence while at UNL, but didn't kill anyone until later.  As far as we know...

Cam Newton and Reggie Bush were paid to play - didn't kill any dogs

Sooner option QB wizard Charles Thompson was dealing cocaine while on the team and dismissed - another great #6

as you know..... countless thugs on the Miami Hurricane teams over the years

The irony is, Charles Thompson #6 turned his life around despite all those serious problems, and Jamelle Holieway #4 went into the tank, though it appears he's come out of his series of arrests in the 00s.

Jamelle Holieway was scary good

not as scary as Dupree, but....... wow

there's another question

since J. C. Watts went on to become a congressman, does he get xtra credit for his #1 jersey?

or was that a bad thing, since he converted to a Republican from growing up a democrat?

I assume everyone was on cocaine in the 80s....

I totally whiffed on many recent players in the early going of this series.  I don't believe any of the ones I forgot would have won, but certainly Henry should've been included on the list to begin with.  My bad.
