Yeah, I don't think I can take Iowa-Nebraska.
I'm watching OU-TCU until it's time to go downtown.
-
Watching some Iowa/Nebraska until it's time to take the kids to their mom's house. Then it'll be a nice quiet lunch at a brewery for my wife and I, followed by the weekly Costco run. We'll get home and then she'll head out to the grocery store for everything else we need for the week.
Today is the dog's 4th birthday, so he'll get a roasted chicken breast for dinner while my wife and I heat up some frozen pho broth and have some soup.
-
I got out of cooking yesterday but I promised dessert today, so I am making a cheesecake for some reason

Hey now my thread brain doesn't kick in for another few hours

This game is theatre
-
The line was UNL -2.5 with an O/U of 24.5.
If Nebraska kicks a FG here they'll win by 3 with a total score of 23.
Those guys in Vegas are pretty smart.
-
I was going to say Nebraska taking a timeout while the clock was stopped was inexcusable but the horrible INT but made that moot very quickly.
-
OMG, Iowa will win again!
-
In their B1G opener Iowa got drilled, 31-0. In the eight games since they have never scored more than 26, only scored more than 20 twice, and only scored more than 15 thrice. If you think that is bad we'll, you don't know Iowa. They are 7-1 in those games.

Yes, and Iowa should be 8-0 in their last eight conference games but Iowa was robbed. Fortunately, that robbery is moot, too.

When you play that many close games officiating is going to be questioned. After the 31 point loss Iowa had a two point loss and seven wins by:
- 22 over RU
- 10 over MSU
- 9 over UW
- 6 over PU
- 3 over NU
- 3 over UNL
- 2 over IL

Just because the return man doesn't know the rule doesn't make it robbery.
Live by the punt, die by the punt.
-
Iowa's 3rd-best play is a punt.
Their 5th-best offensive play is the kneel down.

btw, closing the book on Graham Mertz this season:
261 of 358
72.9% comp
2,903 yds
20 TD
3 INT
157.8 rating
.
And ended his season with the ancient Spartan phrase: Come back with your shield...or on it.
He got past those 2 defenders and gained another 5-6 yards for a first down. Didn't realize he broke his collar bone until handing the ball off on the next play.
Every Gators fan is glad he'll be back next year. Thanks, Bastages, for the quality QB.
-
Kid got a raw deal in Madison. Three (incompetent) OC's and no real QB coach. I'm glad he got a fresh start because he's a good kid and a good teammate.

This game is theatre
This is begging to be a Cohen BrothersMovie and one hell of a 30 for 30 Docu in a few yrs
-
After the NFL game flipped to Mizzou / Ark... Wow what a bloodbath. Swapped to the smurf turf game.
Guessing here shortly I'll watch Texas curb-stomp TTU (RIP Leach), and then when it's about 21-0 swap over to see the kickoff on the Civil War.
-
UTSA has 5 turnovers. Meep-meep!

Don't pick at a wound. If Ferentz dies, he's owed a giant buyout.
-
Ugh. Trying to watch OSU-Bama but instead get the neverending saga of Utah State and New Mexico
-

UW didn’t give him good enough trining wheels. But I’m happy he found a place (I think a lot of UF fans are not)
-
Idk, maybe back in August. But he's a plus player for us.
Does he still take too many sacks? Yes.
Is he going to go out and throw for 400 yards and actively win you the game? No.
But he was a turnover machine at UW and has been very efficient with the ball for us.
The bottom line is that he hasn't been a negative. A 150+ pass rating w/o a bunch of turnovers is a guy you can win with.
Just not with our defense.
-
Made it to the basketball game with a minute left in the half. Apparently the first half was lots of fun.

Texas up 10-7 on Tech heading into the 2nd Q.
If things get easier for the Longhorns as the game moves along, I'd look into resting key players on the Longhorns DL. Like T'Vondre Sweat and Byron Murphy. Sweat is especially effective at tying up the interior line blocking persistently enough to free up the LBs.
Going into a likely Big 12 Championship showdown with Oklahoma, Texas can't free their LBs for enough spy duty Vs Sooners QBs. Dillon Gabriel's feet was a difference maker against Texas back in October. And it seems there's a recent history of Oklahoma's QBs giving the Longhorns defense fits. Spencer Rattler and Caleb Williams did damage too.
With that said, I don't think Oklahoma automatically clinched a spot for next week despite their 69-45 win over TCU today.

Talk about twelving! They twelved HARD!

Pretty sure they need an OkSU loss.

You misapprehend my post, which is that the replay official doesn't understand the rule. In real time the entire Minnesota coaching staff understood the rule, the entire Gopher team understood the rule. One person in the stadium thought he knew better than everybody else, and he didn't.

Absolutely. Individual plays, and calls, do matter more in close games. It is uncanny Iowa defeated so many teams with so little offense. Limiting penalties helps. Punting helps. QB sneaks even help.
Whichever opponent Iowa has in the Big Ten Championship Game, I don't see how Iowa can win. I would rather Iowa play Michigan because Marvin Harrison is unstoppable, especially with Cooper Dejean out for the season.
-
Deacon Hill is not good. Is there nobody else on that roster?
-
I figured PSU would beat MSU, but I didn't think MSU would get beat like that. It's like they didn't even bother to show up.
How many transfers is MSU gonna lose this year?

The only misinterpretation was by the on field officials not blowing the play dead as soon as the return man caught the ball.

Yup, that's the latest I saw as well. OkState should win today so it's most likely Tx-OkState for the B12 championship.

I'd relish a chance to correct the error from earlier this season, but alas I don't think we'll get it.
You're right though, leading 50-7 at the beginning of the 4th quarter, Texas emptied the bench and played backups the rest of the game. Tech has been a thorn in our side recently, so blasting them off the field for a change felt pretty dang good.
Also, if it comes down to style points and comparisons between Oregon and Texas, to get into the CFP, well there is one common opponent. The Ducks beat Tech earlier this season 38-30, and Texas just beat Tech 57-7. It might or might not help, but it can't hurt.

Go on...
-
I hadn't had any "refreshments" since last Sunday there abouts. So yesterday around dinner time along with Thurday's left overs had a couple of Oktoberfests. Which led to working in the Weller's I don't remember what I did after that but I needed sunglasses to open the fridge this morning.
-
Go on...
It's on smoke right now - probably get 4 hours out of what I have, which is a smoker box in the Weber Summit. Best I can do.
Then it will go in the oven. I will turn it into chop, for sandwiches tomorrow (Friendsgiving). Also making chili and mac n' cheese.

Sounds good. I usually shoot for 6 hours on the smoke, after that it doesn't matter, won't absorb any more smoke so the oven is as good a method as any to finish the cook.
-
I'm making stock today. So many bones, not from turkey btw, accumulated from. Rotisserie over this past quarter. Other than a little egg bowl, didn't have the TV on at all yesterday.

Should I cook it longer for the chop, @utee94 (https://www.cfb51.com/index.php?action=profile;u=15) ?

Oregon doesn’t have a prayer in that matchup. The Bama win is too much to overcome.

Not faux.
It's real, and it's spectacular.
-

If you have time? Sure. 6 hours on the smoke would be plenty. I also like to make sure I get a really nice bark in my chop, so you have some different textures once it's all mixed up.
-

Sure hope so but gotta take care of business in the B12 CCG first.
Oh and pho is absolutely fantastic. By far my favorite of any of the Asian soups. I like it WAY better than ramen, for example.

I can't get 6. It's in the oven now after 3.5 hours of smoke, at 250 or so. Got a nice bark.
How long in the oven? I put in some liquid (beef stock) so it won't dry out.
-
Foil/butcher paper is your friend for pushing cook time along. Butcher paper preferred

Until it's done. Can't use time, or even temp. Cook until it's tender.
Best thing is to test with an instant read thermometer probe. Poke it around in multiple spots. If it resists, it's not ready. If it goes in wo resistance, it's tender.

found the right thread

Lots of rain here in Tucson this morning. Sun just starting to show. Family friends taking me to Tempe for the Territorial Cup today. We’ll be a mixed group of 8 of us Wildcats Sun Devils walking into stadium.
Listening to radio broadcast of Michigan Ohio State on drive up.
-
Enough yakkity yak. Kick it off.
-
Gotta hang onto that ball
-
I don't think he made it but it looked like he was closer than that spot.
-
Well that is not good
-
I think Corum got in but I’m not sure there is a look to change the call.
-
He thru it right to him - freakin' brain fart
-
Not beef stock Badge but this will liquid gold later this evening.
-
That’s a TD.

That’s a TD.
That was REAL close.
If it was ruled an INT on the field, could you justify overturning it?

IMO, yeah.

No you couldn't. So close either way. No way they were going to overturn it.
-
Nice answer by Ohio St. Needed that drive.
-
Michigan TD not even close. JJ seems like he’s on today. But no need for the Buckeyes to panic yet.
-
F*****g holding gonna be called FFS
-
I preferred the era where we would have seen another three plays by now.
-
Joel Klatt is so dumb. If Moore called a timeout, OSU would just go for it, because you saved them a timeout. Him and Gus shouldn't even be the BTN A team

I know I posted a Klatt video and you can certainly laugh at that because I’ve hate him all year on Saturdays. His commentary is terrible and clueless.

Wow blatant holding. Blatant
-
Man, Ohio St really flexed its muscle that drive.
-
I'm liking seeing this!
-
Woody would be proud ran it down their throats
-
Wow blatant holding. Blatant
Pay back evidently you missed it like Booger did Stalions on the sideline

Sorry, made a small mess on myself after that drive

Should we go back and show all the blatant holds?
-
Should we go back and show all the blatant holds?
You can, but when Klatt is talking about how talented the receiver is as a blocker right as the Jersey is stretching out in the hand it’s humorous.
there’s plenty called and not called during the game. Not an excuse for the score but that one was pretty obvious.
-
I didn't see it, what was the injury?
-
I missed this how did Zinter get hurt?
-
I missed this how did Zinter get hurt?
They haven't shown what happened
-
Got rolled up on - they said it's so bad, they wouldn't show the replay.
Makes me think it was more from the side and the knee bent ugly. You can get plenty injured getting rolled up on from behind, but it wouldn't LOOK super bad.
-
Good Luck to the kid I hope it's not career ending
-
In today’s football that’s as hard and clean a hit as you can put on a WR.

They haven't shown what happened
When the first showed him laying on the ground, his leg was definitely sideways and broken

Klatt would be better without Gus.
I think Gus' presence in the booth makes Klatt try to be over the top.
Gus sucks.
That is all.

That was a hell of a ballsy play call on that third and eight.

Big drive for Ohio St. Good game.

Lol. This is very true. This is the one game I actually have his voice on and I dislike it.

Has Michigan done Mr Brightside after the third for a while?
Seems like a very Michigan song choice lol...

Disagree. They deserve each other. But they should be doing Wednesday MAC games

Jayden Daniels is so good. As are his 2 wrs

I do not understand how he isn't the Heisman front runner

Agree.

If the TD stands, that should stand
-
Lets go!
-
That sequence is reason I wish replay review was banished. So destructive to game flow.
-
Hell of a game
-
Pack up your shit Third Base, the middle of nowhere Texas is calling.
-
Yup. Great plays and turns.
-
Congratulations to Michigan on your first legitimate win over tOSU since 2011.
-
Well the old adage that cheaters never win is proven not true
-
Pack up your shit Third Base, the middle of nowhere Texas is calling.
You're right Booger might follow him as the possey is stringing him along until hammer time.Good Luck to Zinter in recovery
-
ASU's starting QB is 6'4", 270 lbs

Jayload
-
The Zinter injury was sort of friendly fire.
He and the LG are pass-blocking, one-on-one. The LT swings in and whacks the defender the LG is blocking, causing him to fall right into Zinter's lower left leg.
So a DT forcibly falling out of control fell into the leg from the side.
-

I'm kind of surprised it doesn't happen more often. Pass blocking is often a fire drill.

When I played in HS, I hated when someone with no one to block would cave in my guy from the side. I had him, he wasn't going anywhere, and now he's pushed to my side and freed up (if he's still up). It just annoyed me. Sweep back for any stray blitzers or something, I got my guy.

You have to learn how to write off every loss, that's how Michigan hasn't actually lost to MSU in 40 years. 1995, Carr said the field was illegally crowned. 1999, their QB system erroneously allowed Henson to play too much. 2001, refs. 2008-2010, bad coach. 2011-2014, different bad coach. 2015, fluke play. 2017, rained too much. 2020, COVID. 2021, transfer portal players don't count

They have relaxed the rules on pass blocking so much that they don't really coach it anymore. Every guy just handles the guy in front of him at the HS level. So when a guy doesn't have someone to block, he doesn't know what to do
-
Congratulations to Michigan Fans on your team winning The Game.
I has sad.

Haha. That’s how I made it for 15 years against the buckeyes. It’s a soothing way to do it and I fully support this
-
I still think the current UW staff, plus or minus a few people, has the ability to make Wisconsin a good program going forward.
But they have done a decidedly shitty job this season.
-
The UM muffed punt fumble impossibility ending was the #1 worst way to lose a game in college football history.

Happy Anniversary!

Every time Michigan gets that oversold defense up the middle they run a perfect outside trap to the weak side
As soon as I saw the defensive adjustment, to the Michigan alignment, I knew what was coming, and I haven't seen it not work this season. UMs RT is elite on that run seal. Those are the little things which is why. Much as I hate college football as a whole, I still enjoy watching games. Just to see little things like that. Is Michigan's weak side tackle elite? I couldn't tell you. But I'll tell you one thing. They coach the hell out of their tackles is to pin that edge rusher when they have no help from a fullback or a tight end. And I still find it super fun to watch teams teach and then coach to a specific skill

Mordecai is killing the Gophers on scheduled runs.
The snow is coming down here at the New Brickhouse. I didn't think it was supposed to snow until tomorrow.

I dunno the Kick 6 was right there also- both brutal
-

Stalions,Weiss and Partridge are on board with that ;D
-
Big xii tiebreaker is amazing. It's easier to understand my little kids' old toy assembly instructions
-
I dunno the Kick 6 was right there also- both brutal
Yeaaahhhhh but the punt-flub-fumble-return wasn't even thought of as a possibility. Muff? Okay, it's down there, UM gets the ball with like 3 seconds left. A clean block and return? Fine, maybe, it's happened before.
But for it to happen how it happened was impossible.
Auburn had a guy back there for a reason. It was a 'maybe-possibly' thing.
-
Nothing but missed tackles on that long run. WTH happened to the Gopher D?
-
UW had an edge of 2 full yards in terms of yards per play before halftime, game was still tied.
They've gone ahead by 7, but they're letting the Gophers move. This defense makes me unhappy.
-
Iron bowl is for men only.
-
... and this is over.
-
21-20 War Eagle at the end of 3
-
24-20 Auburn with 10:15 to play
-
This is a hell of a game. Peyton Thorne the track star
-
Bama with a review as close as anything in the Ohio St game today on whether a kid got a foot down for a catch. It’s the difference between punting or not.
Incomplete. Punt time for Bama.
-
Muffed punt puts Bama in business
-
Auburn muffs punt.
-
Well that was unfortunate
-
Wow.
-
Can we put to rest the fiction that these 20 year olds play with any kind of consistency???
Last week Auburn was blown out at home by New Mexico State. Today, they're leading Alabama late.
The only thing consistent about their play is that it's inconsistent.
-
7-5 KY dumps no.10 L'ville 38-31
-
And after the muffed punt Bama has a botched snap to put themselves in 4th and goal from Birmingham.
-
The iron bowl is drunk
-
So am I.
-
Unbelievable
-
Bama TD. 41 yards.
-
Sheesh
-
Alabama needs to turn off their Playstation and start over.
-
Alabama needs to turn off their Playstation and start over.
....or just put it on JV difficulty.
Jesus Christ!
-
Are the NY Jets major donors to Auburn or something?
That last minute was pooping the bed in a dumpster fire in a train wreck.
-
Well my team lost but at least they didn't lose like that
-
sounds like the noles filled up the swamp
-
Huskies and Cougs tied at 21 with 1:15 left

Well my team lost but at least they didn't lose like that
Dawgs and Tide gonna tee it up for an SEC Showdown, don't know what to think now.The Tigers got thumped by NMST last week then had St Nick on the ropes for the holidays

The plays in the last minute of Iowa Nebraska and the Iron Bowl were totally preposterous.
To OAM's points the Volatility of youth and college sports is uncanny.

Well, WVU has outgained Baylor so far 246 yards to 26 but is only leading 17-14 because Baylor has returned two kicks for a TD.

We had the most dominant half of football possible....and it yielded a 5 point lead.
With our offensive line and defense, it's a miracle we won 5 games.

UM is a 22-point favorite vs Iowa.
Interesting perspective. Iowa gave up more than 22 points in one game. I have my doubts Iowa loses by more than 22. Iowa will score at least 3 points.
-
Who was that against? How'd they do against UM?
The o/u is 34.5, so they're predicting a 28-7 type game.
-
JJ McCarthy is amazing. No way UM wins that game with McNamara (or McCord even). He was the difference. Some of those passes he made were just superhuman and not normal.
The AXE is in Madison, as it should be. This was the first time in 3 games against the Goophs that Braelon Allen was healthy. It showed.

None of that matters. When they kick off this weekend, everything is new.

Go Badgers!
The “ Game” was exactly as I thought and predicted. Good game, entertaining for sure, and the better team won.
Ohio State is a very good team, but Michigan is better- maybe the best team. For OSU, their margin for error was tiny. They would have had to be near perfect to pull off the upset.
UM had 4 distinct advantages- and leveraged all four:
-more experienced/ and mobile QB
-more consistent running game
- better special teams
-home field
Very impressive performance by Michigan, again. No turnovers and almost no penalties
McCord was decent, but his early interception which gave UM their early TD was a hole OSU never dug out of.
Special teams: Michigan 3 for 3 on FGs, OSU 1 for 2.
Buckeye punter averaged 34 yards. 34! Michigan punter was way better, and pinned OSU several times deep.
Buckeyes defense was good. Michigan’s was better.

Michigan 24-9 PSU with 2 minutes to go in the game
McCarthy attempted 9 passes in that game
As much as PSU owned the LOS vs Iowa, Michigan is that much better.
If Iowa scores it will be with help from the defense or special teams
doubt they can drive 50+ yards vs that defense with their offense
35-3? probably 42-3 like 2021
-
My guess is 27-6.
-
Michigan may rest starters in the 2nd half
keep the total down

Wisconsin holding onto the axe in the traditional way, weathering an early storm and slowly choking out the gophers, is what we’d like to see. Considering The overall poor quality of the season and a pair of ghastly losses, I’ll take a win there and an above .500 finish.
Cal closed out the PAC-12 with an upset to go bowling. I think UCLA’s kids might know their coach is out and have reacted badly to it, but the outcome is what it is.
-
The two ACCG participants playing sub. 500 SEC teams and going 1-1 with two close games is hilarious.
-
I watched the UK-UL game, it was entertaining. UK was a bit of a hard luck team this season, started 5-0 and then ...
I also watched the Iron Bowl, pulling for Auburn of course. Alabama seems to hit improbable passes far too often. It nudged the betting line in the SEC CG a point to 5.5.
You'd think UGA is the better team, but they have found ways to lose to them in the past too often. I hope they get Bowers and Mcconkey back.
-
Georgia is much better than Alabama. Alabama still has great athletes and a great coach, but I don't think this game is going to be particularly close. It'll stay tight for a while but I see Georgia pulling out to a 14-17 point win by the end.
-
I'd be delighted with any win of course. Like many here, I view winning one's conference as a thing. Do that, and you face two probably tough opponents with no more than a 60% chance of winning one game. Usually.
If favorites win the CGs, we'll of course have UGA UM FSU UW (maybe Oregon). The Dawgs got healthy and then had to hold four players out yesterday.

If Oregon beats U-Dub and Texas wins the B12 CCG, then Texas should slide ahead of them. Horns have the better resume' and now there's a common opponent Texas Tech. Oregon beat then 38-30, Texas beat them 57-7.
-
That could be contentious. Oregon would have beaten an undefeated UDubb (currently ranked #3 in one poll).
Oregon has a nice win over Utah, and would have avenged their only loss (on the road).
I THINK they'd go with Oregon over Texas.

Currently and at season's end, Texas still has the stronger SOS. And speaking cynically, Texas turns on more TV sets, and ESPN is hemorrhaging cash right now.
And then there's that common opponent comparison. Beating Tech 57-7 > beating Tech 38-30. That's a brand new data point that the committee has not yet been able to take into account.
-
common opponent doesn't mean much
unless everything else is equal
and winning a conference today is more impressive than back in the 80s when conferences were smaller and there were more of them
next season, winning the PAC or the Big 12 won't mean much. Like winning the MAC or the Mountain West

It's in their codified guidelines, so they're supposed to take it into account. Whether they do, or not, remains to be seen. But they're supposed to and they say they do.
When circumstances at the margins indicate that teams are comparable, then the following criteria must be considered:
- Championships won
- Strength of schedule
- Head‐to‐head competition (if it occurred)
- Comparative outcomes of common opponents (without incenting margin of victory)
https://collegefootballplayoff.com/sports/2016/10/24/selection-committee-protocol
So in this hypothetical, both Texas and Oregon would have won their conference championship, Texas would have the better season-ending SOS, and Texas would have the advantage in comparative outcomes vs. common opponents. Obviously there's no direct H2H to be considered in this scenario.
-
The common opponents thing would be equal, woudl it not?

Right. Similar to the language in the old BCS formula, where MOV consideration was capped at 21 or something like that, because they didn't want to overly incent running up the score.
If you're not comparing scores, how else are you supposed to do it?
-
If Team A loses to Team X, and Team B beats Team X....
If we don't "incent" MoV, the scores wouldn't matter would they?
Maybe road vs home matters?
I think the committee would actually weight relative scores no matter the rules. I don't know how SoS is calculated, by them.

Yes, absolutely agree with this. The primary reason they currently have Oregon ahead of Texas is that Oregon has had a greater MOV over most opponents (although it's also against a weaker SOS).
The selection committee is like a child distracted by shiny objects. MOV is one of the biggest shiny objects that distracts them.

If Team B lost to Team X then it's already harming their resume'.
Not "incenting" MOV doesn't imply that they completely ignore MOV. Like I said, similar language was used previously in the BCS computer calculations, where MOV consideration was capped at 21 points in order to limit the incentive to run up the score.

His early interception was the difference in the game ,Day needs to take a paycut never - NEVER TAKES A CHANCE.Michigan is better but not that good, the BIG is way down from previous yrs and Kyle though a good kid was still locked on his primary receiver and has a problem getting set.IMO Brown clearly is a much better thrower they were neck and neck up until the last week of camp.SABAN went to the back up 3X in two yrs and landed in the NC Game both years both times, great coaches do that.5 years in and this is DAYs squad ,2 yrs running nothing to speak of out of the Portal 1-6 vs top 10 teams pay cut time earn it,he'll have to limp by on say 4-5 mil like Booger did 3 yrs ago

Using AP since new CFP rankings are not available yet:
- 12-0 UGA vs 11-1 #8 Bama
- 12-0 scUM vs 10-2 #18 Iowa
- 12-0 Washington vs 11-1 #5 Oregon
- 12-0 Florida State vs 10-2 #15 Louisville
- 11-1 Oregon vs 12-0 #3 Washington
- 11-1 Ohio State, idle
- 11-1 Texas vs 9-3 #19 OkSU
- 11-1 Bama vs 12-0 #1 Georgia
- 9 through 14 as well as 16 and 17 are all idle.
Ohio State will be the only 1-loss P5 non-Champion. It will clearly not get them to the CFP because they'll be behind #1-3 even if they lose plus they'll be behind #5, #7, and #8 if they win. In theory Ohio State might have a sliver of hope if:
- 1-3 all win, and
- 4 and 7 both lose
In practice I don't think that would get tOSU in because they'd take either 12-1 FSU or 11-2 Louisville instead.
The top four obviously control their own destiny with Oregon, Texas, and Bama waiting for one of them to lose. Oregon and Bama have the advantage of getting a chance to knock off one of the top four. Texas can only hope that someone does it for them.
Last week the committee had Oregon ahead of Texas and if that holds, then Texas probably needs Washington to win and one of Georgia/Michigan/FSU to lose. Even then, if UGA loses to Bama that should get Texas in but I wouldn't bet on the SEC Champions being left out.
-
If Team B lost to Team X then it's already harming their resume'.
And Team A may have lost to Team Y, but beat Team X. So both are 12-1. These comparisons get subjective usually around the last team in, and will be more so next year.
The SoS thing confuses me always. Team A may beat 4 teams who went 11-1 or 10-2 and the rest of their opponents were 5-7. Team B beat 4 teams who went 8-4 and 4 who went 7-5. Who had the greater SoS?
UGA was criticized for having a soft slate this year, and they did through the first part of the season. It still wasn't something massive, but was OK since Mizzou ended up looking solid.

Agree-- even if Texas has the same record and beat that SEC champ head-to-head by double digits on their own field.
Such is the way of the current CFP system.

Let's imagine Oregon beats UW 38-16 and Texas beats OkSU 28-21, would the MoVs matter then? Or reverse the scores?
I think Oregon is in with a win. But the committee ...
Is UGA in with a loss? Probably not.

Well yeah, that's kind of the definition of being overrated. At the beginning of the season, Oregon's win over super-hyped Colorado looked great. Now Colorado is just another 4-8 suckbutt.
-
Current SOR rankings
- Michigan
- Washington
- Florida State
- Georgia
- Ohio State
- Texas
- Alabama
- Ole Miss
- Oregon
Oregon has to rely on the advanced metrics, where they rank #3, behind OSU (#1) and Michigan (#2).
As far as resume vs. predictive, Oregon is the team screwed the most, but my take has always been to lean resume. And no team has outperformed their predictive metrics among teams in contention by more than Washington.
-

Because we overrated TCU, we overrated Colorado beating them, and thus Oregon beating Colorado.
So what you are saying is that if we had just known that Michigan didn't have TCU's signals, we would now appropriately rank Oregon

I've semi concluded nobody is all that good this year. Maybe this is typical.

UGA could be in with a loss, because last 2 seasons and SEC SEC SEC
I think Oregon is in with a win because....... the committee has them #6 and a win over #3 undefeated Washington would be impressive

Georgia is good.
After that, I think most of the next 5-7 teams are all pretty evenly matched.
Well, maybe not FSU without their starting QB-- that's not their fault but it is what it is.
