College football rankings: SEC championship scenarios entering Week 6 (247sports.com) (https://247sports.com/college/georgia/longformarticle/college-football-rankings-sec-championship-scenarios-entering-week-6-217280823/#2257937)

A useful summary I thought.

I haven't seen a real dominate team in the SEC. More parity this year than in the past I guess due to the NIL and portal.

We will find out Saturday if Kentucky is for real this time or they start their downward trend as they have previously.

Tennessee is still a mystery team dependent upon the running game and needing a dominate defense in every game which is hard to do. I still don't think Milton will win many games with his passing game when it comes crunch time.

he certainly won't win any games... he'll throw it to the sidelines as time expires while being down six, just as he did in the Ole Miss game a couple years ago... I like the kid, but his ability to think on his feet is lacking.

A&M va Bama is a big game for us. Whoever wins will be in sole 1st place in the west. This may be our last chance to win the west division, I think they’re eliminating divisions next year. Obviously we have some big games left on the schedule between now and then. But we have to win this one first.

Personally I’m not buying the crap that Bama is down etc. I think it will be a tight game but our team has played very sloppily all season.

Everyone has been sloppy. no one looks all that good, to me.  Bama is down, I think, but still competent and talented.

UK at UGA will be interesting I think.  Maybe UGA comes out looking better, they need to.

BAMA isn't down as much as other teams have been able to do with the NIL what BAMA boosters have been doing for years paying top recruits to play.  People can't really believe Saban has been that great of a recruiter all those years with his personality.

BAMA has quarterback issues like a lot of other teams because the NIL has given 5-star quarterbacks a better choice than being in Tuscaloosa. It's almost as bad as being at Auburn.

LSU becomes a true coin flip the rest of the way, I think.  The offense is good enough to win them any game on the schedule, including if they were to make it to ATL against UGA.  The defense is bad enough to lose them any game on the schedule, probably including Army.  You could consequently assign them 4-3 or 3-4 the rest of the way, and they aren't going to ATL and won't have the privilege of rematching UGA.  Now it's just a matter of seeing each week which way the coin lands.

What strange times we live in when LSU's offense is the best in the conference and the defense is 117th in the nation.

I don't know what to make out of Florida.  It's possible Tennessee just really has UF in their heads that much and that game was meaningless and UF is really bad.  Still, that UT game happened and UF looked plenty competent, if not "good."  Maybe Kentucky was the aberration.  Not sure....we'll see.  Tough team to gauge.

I might watch UK/UGA for the first time in a long while.  For a quarter and a half, anyway, 'til it becomes obvious it's not actually going to be a good game and UGA pulls away.

According to the nUmbarz, we missed 34 tackles last weekend.  Is that bad?

Led to 285 yards after misses.

I can't help but think that factored into the loss, somehow.

It'll be interesting to see if UK can run on UGA as they did on UF, or anything close to that.

UGA seems to have only one successful play these days.

I guess you mean the one where they throw it to Bowers.

Frankly, I'm not sure they need another one.

Draft day is Saban's recruiting pitch.  That's all he's needed.

I'll take:

LSU @ Mizzou -- Bengal tiger offense appears good enough to win any game, defense bad enough to lose any game, thus I see every game as a coin flip.  That being the case, the homer in me takes the correct Tigers.  There will be zero surprise, however, if Mizzou wins, or even wins big.  The offense has to be near perfect to even make games a pick-'em, and they've been near perfect, but if it's a day where the offense doesn't have it, well....

W. Mich @ Clanga -- chance for hapless cowbells to pick up a W toward hopeful bowl eligibility

Bama @ aTm -- Interesting game in that Jimbo may be on the hot seat with a loss.  He's been objectively worse than Sumlin, and the Ags didn't put up with that either.  Aaron Murray made a good point about perception, I thought...that A&M could go 8-4 while winning this weekend and he's probably safe.  On the other hand, if they go 8-4 with a loss to Bama, the "powers" are gonna be mighty restless.  On the flip side, could this actually be a must-win for Saban?  I'd like to think not because surely Alabama is smarter than to run off arguably the GOAT coach and get on the coaching carousel based on half a season, but man has that fanbase started to melt down since the Texas game.  Bama does not want to get into a game where Milroe has to throw it, they'll want to run 70-80% of the time.  That Gump OL has started looking better and better at run blocking and playing like their "biggest OL in football" title demands.  That said, the A&M D-line looks for real, and if anybody can avoid getting knocked off the ball, they can.  A&M will slow them down but Bama will get their yards and points.  On the other side, I don't think A&M will be able to move the ball as much, so Bama is my pick, but not with much confidence.

Vandy @ Gators -- Bounce-back game for Florida.  The admin and fans may be more patient but the media is already starting to lose their cool with Napier.  Fortunately Vandy offers a mild enough speed-bump that Florida will live to fight another day.

UKan't @ Three-peat Hopefuls -- This has the trappings of an interesting game.  Well-coached Wildcat team who genuinely believes they can win and looks like a tough out vs. a Dawg squad that has looked mortal this year and even pedestrian at times.  It's fool's gold.  Kentucky will be fired up but UGA will use this game to quiet their critics and by mid-3rd quarter at the latest it will be obvious Georgia's superior talent and depth is going to pull away to a lopsided score.  Much of the second half probably won't be worth watching.

Pigs @ Rebears -- Arkansas' OL looks suspiciously not like a Sam Pittman OL.  Like, they've been really bad outside of one game vs. LSU, and well, LSU is the worst defense in cfb.  On the other hand, Ole Miss' front 7 is not nearly what A&M's front 7 is, so the Hawgs will probably show a little better than they did last week.  But the Rebels have enough on both sides, I suspect, to win this one at home.  If Piggy finds a way to close down Ole Miss' run game the story changes, but I don't think they can do it.  The Fighting Eli's keep the Lane Train rolling into further delusions about being an upper tier SEC program.

Looks like I mostly favor the home teams, except for Bama and the homer pick.  Seems reasonable.

Rumor that Milroe has an injury and might not go against the Ags?  If that's true I don't see Alabama winning.  Those other two schlubs they rolled out at QB were horribad and almost lost to a G5 team.

Alabama won't be throwing the ball much in either case, so that part doesn't change.  The other guys are at least capable of handing the ball off, which I think is the plan either way.  The O-line seems to have improved markedly from the first three games (this is not to insinuate that Bama could now beat Texas), in terms of technique, cohesion, and meanness, all of which was lacking at the start of the season.  They look pretty devastating when running the ball, so they might be able to grind out an ugly game.

The problem is that Milroe is a big threat to run, and I don't know that the other guys are.  So if they lost that, their run game loses a dimension and the Aggie front 7's job becomes simpler.  And the Aggies seem to have quite a front 7.  They're probably the best equipped to deal with Bama's improved OL out of the remaining opponents.

Definitely gets harder for the Gumps, especially on the road, if Milroe can't go or isn't 100%.

If I had more confidence in the Aggie O-line I'd probably have gone with them in the first place.  I don't see Aggie scoring much in this game, but it's possible 20 may do it.  Bama has proven they're capable of a dumpster-fire offensive performance on the road.  This is probably going to be an ugly game, but one I think either team is going to celebrate if they win, since they probably go on to win the west.

If you like dumpster fires, sure.

I'll happily be watching the RRS with the wife, who I've ceded all TV rights too for this season, in hopes that our teams keep playing at the same time and therefore I don't have to watch us.

I had hopes for Arky 3-4 years age becoming a decently competitive program, but they seem mired in 7-5 or 6-6.

Kentucky starts each year hot and then starts to lose, but they obviously can have pretty solid years, followed by 7-5.

Reality Check day for my Ags.  This is where the road forks yet again.  Exit Right is a potential Glorious Season, only give out to A&M once every ten or so years by the Evil Capricious Football Gods.

The left exit is another 8-4 or 7-5 type of season.

Oh wait, I just realized that we already had our good season in 2020.  Never mind.  8-4 here we come.

I didn't pick scores, but the games roughly followed the descriptions I ventured.  Except for Alabama.  I thought they'd have a hard time running on A&M, I didn't expect them not to be able to run at all, and I didn't expect Milroe to suddenly look like a Heisman contender.

That version of Bama beats the current version of UGA, methinks.  We'll probably get to find out.

I think I said UGA/UK would be over by the 3rd quarter at the latest, so I'm still claiming that as correct on my part.

If an LSU fan tells you they didn't start crying and then throw up a little bit when they got down 22-7 to Mizzou, they are lying through their trailer park teeth.

Watching Ole Miss and Arkansas struggle on offense against each other last night only highlights LSU's defensive derpitude.  That's a word I just made up, but uncharted circumstances call for uncharted language.

There is another brand new tactic where a defender somehow stays near a wide receiver and can actually deflect the pass, or even catch it.

Hello 8-4.

Question is, whose our other two losses to?  LSU, Ole Miss, or *shudders* Miss State?

Just think of 8-4 as a 3 game improvement over last year.

And also, I'd heavily favor A&M against Clanga, somewhat-but-comfortably favor them against Ole Miss, and probably favor them against LSU even on the road.  I don't see how LSU runs for much of anything against A&M, and the Aggies are the best equipped out of anyone, I think, to stop LSU's offense.  All three are winnable, I think.
