USC
Clemson
Texas...last year in Big 12. Its a do it now or never season.
Alabama
-
I'm not sold on USC, I expect none of us are really. They could win the Pac and get in of course. Clemson? Or FSU? Texas? See USC. Texas fans could see some unusual refereeing this season. Oklahoma? Maybe. What we'll probably have is three from the Group of Four and then a "TCU".

Utah is my TCU
perhaps it should be KSU?
returning QB
defending Big 12 Champs
a few timely breaks with OU and UT on their way out
-
I can't understand all the LSU love this off/preseason. Kelly was flat out outcoached and the parts and pieces that folded last season are supposed to be grandiose this season? .... and they may be... but not because of hype.
Milton needs to produce immediately and needs at least two solid receivers to do it... jury is hung there. It "could" happen, but leaning more towards not.
USC and ND are the same animal in different skins... lots of talk amd lack of quality stacked opponents.
Texas "could" break out. OU as in Okey won't. They made a mistake with Vinny.
Bama is relying on a transfer from ND to guide them. UGA is breaking in a new QB... both their Ds are capable of carrying them, but UGA has the schedule to make it.
OSU and UM, Clemson if that young QB settles in, Oklahoma state, South Carolina could surprise, arky may also surprise, and then a wobbler or two from some out of the way conference that has no business being there.
But, alas, we all know it'll be four of the usual suspects.
UM needs to look hard at ECU... they aren't a force by any means, but they have the capacity to win that game. That would suck for college football if they did because we'd all know it wouldn't happen but once in 20, and likely the first game only in that 20. Using that same measure is how we figure who will be where by end of season, right? But that ain't how it works out.....
-
so, we should pick the Vols over LSU?
-
Tennessee
LSU
tUSC
Clemson

I wouldn't pick either. Either could make it, but I'd not wager in either team doing so with my own money.
-
the Gators?
A&M??
gotta b somebody out of the SEC SEC SEC if bama and gawga aren't in

LSU and/or Tenn. South Carolina might get a sniff?

Ok fine
Illinois, South Carolina, Memphis and Stanford.

My very longshot notions would be:
South Carolina
Kansas State
UNC
Oregon
-
Realistic:
LSU - already predicting them to win the SEC over UGA & Bama
Penn State - predicting they'll finish second over either OSU/UM
Utah - QB recovering from injury but roster is complete and schedule works
Worth Betting on:
Kansas State

This South Carolina nonsense needs to stop.
They pulled 2 upsets to end the year, that's all. And one was against an ACC team, so take that for what you will.
Want to know what else they did?
They lost to Missouri. Got destroyed by Florida. Spencer Rattler's QBR was 55. They were 106th in rushing offense per game. 78th in points allowed per game.
They're not good.
.
If their coach's last name wasn't Beamer and Tennessee hadn't spread their legs quite so widely, USCe wouldn't be on anyone's radar.
-
A real question in all of this is which outsider might make the dance.
-
UT
UT
OU
OU
-
I always figured UT and OU played with themselves.
-
Did Oregon kind of disappear or are they somewhat relevant again? I know the new coach did OK in Year One after Game One.

Ha!
-
South Carolina should be really good this year, like 10-3 or better, I think.

Okay. Then change mine to:
UT
UT
USC
USC

So the Vols vs the Gamecocks it is

It's been my observation teams flash a few times before they catch fire.
Yeah, UT just laid down that night. Clemson was legit. They lost badly to UF... mizzou played UGA as tough as anyone did last season, UF had all the tools and attitude issues that cost them all season long but made them no less dangerous at times.... its not the flashes that interest me as much as it is the pulling it together at the end... and carrying that forward.
The team that beat the hell out of my vols beat the next team, clemson, who the vols beat the hell out of with a backup QB and most the marque players sitting out.
Football is weird- especially at the college level where unity/cohesion plays a massive role. Florida was on paper much superior to teams they were squashed by... USCe beat teams they shouldn't have.. if the unity and heart usc had was passed to UF they'd have been bowling with ease... the night mizzou took uga deep into the fourth they were playing tight- they were even playing tight three quarters into the UT game just to fall apart (and have 30pts dropped on them) in the late 4th. Even mighty bama suffered from being too big too long last season figuring showing up was enough... Tennessee should have beaten bama by 21 or more and lsu had no business beating them... but they did... because of heart and cohesiveness. USC is getting looks because of their unity and enough horses to get it done.
I subscribe to them possibly contending this season.
-
it's football
-
That's a big reason "we" like it so much, you can expect the ... unexpected, but you rarely know what.
Stanford beating USC back in the day as a 42 point dog was the most incredible thing in my memory. Missouri had the Dawgs beat really, I think they tired in the fourth some. Depth. Ohio State also had'em beat.
In my memory, it has usually been some 21 point dog upsetting UGA to knock them out, but fans tend to recall the bad losses, "if only ...".

No-No-No that was S-W-C, S-W-C, S-W-C set down the Bud Light and pick up a Lonestar

I miss the old SWC, in much the same way I imagine many of you miss the Big Ten.
Hooray for "progress." Yay.
-
yup. I miss the big 8
or the little two
kinda like the Big Ten was the little 2
oklahoma/Texas
michigan/ohio St
nebraska/Oklahoma
times were simpler then
what was the SEC?? Bama/Tenn?

Not really at all. Bama disappeared in the 1980's and Tenn won a couple. Auburn won more than those two.
PAC was mostly USC and UCLA with some Washington sprinkled in.
-
F the Pac
they're going away, because they don't value football
-
Can't imagine what it costs to go to a Game in CALI
