We are winding down the season, and for some teams it's just getting started.
Can Bert get his team back on track? Can Brohm? Now is the time, and I will be watching.
The only other compelling game is Wisconsin at Iowa. The O/U is 35. Whatcha got?
Ribeyes and baked taters are on the docket.
-
Heading over to Oxford here in a moment on this unseasonably cold day. I'm sure us Yankees will have a smirk or two over that today as we soak in the Grove. Might not reach 50 today.
Compelling game as we see a Bama team with two losses before Thanksgiving. Ole Miss still a sizable dog.
Saban is 2-4 when I'm in the building to watch his teams play.
-
Should be a good time for you and your pals. Gonna have to try and make it there someday.
-
winding down the season and not much for matchups
3 eleven AM games and nothing prime time - Oh well
Two games of interest to me....... rooting for Bert this morning vs the Boilers and rooting for no TDs scored in Kinnick
I'd like to see Bert in Lincoln. I think he could win there.
I'd like to see Brian Ferentz out of a job. It's ugly in Iowa City.
Beautiful fall day here, sunny, no wind, high of 30. Golf course is closed.
Planning to venture out for a Schooner of beer and a Charlie Boy sammich at the local pub. The only problem is that particular pub is a Hawkeye hang out. They won't appreciate my RED.
-
Coffee is on - ranked games of interest

Oxford is great. If you weren’t planning on going to Ajax diner on the Square, might I suggest you change that plan.

Is that the schooner? How many ounces? Not a bad breakfast - Keggs & Eggs would approve.
-
Missed my usual Thursday run because of rain and decided to try for 7 miles today without adequate sleep. Manage to finish, also running alongside some marathoners for a minute, I think I might’ve done something to both my ankles.
Should be heading to the badger bar to meet up with some alums. Trying to decide if I should try to split attention for a side hustle, or just put it off and have a slightly less efficient weekend.

Find an easy chair and a Schooner - you'll feel better

That's the Charlie Boy. Never had one, but I might try it.
I just copied a recipe on to the cookbook thread.

I’m sorry. My advocacy for heavy Southern food simply does not know the patience to step aside and wait its turn.

Gotta be tough to be a Gopher fan.
Upper 20s and snow squalls today for tailgating down at the Flats. French toast, spicy bean soup, cornbread, and fried eggs is on the docket today. And a fair amount of 80 proof antifreeze.
And that Charlie Boy sammich looks delicious.

Thanks. I was looking for something to make today.

if you happen through Sewer City I'll treat you to a visit to Miles Inn

that post was for Gopher Rock, but it goes for any and all here @ CFB51

you can only get the original at Miles Inn, Sioux City, IA
(https://roadfood.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/rfl_2915.jpg)
simply ground beef with seasoning, (it's peppery) chopped fresh onions, pickles, cheese, ketchup & mustard on a fresh bun from the local bakery
many have tried to copy it with varying degrees of success. No one has ever nailed it.

Ya know, it was a lot of fun for a very long run, but I do not miss those days at all anymore. These old bones just couldn't take much more of that cold.

Ya well this mind couldn't handle Hurricanes every other week and my wallet wouldn't stretch to have digs constructed by the Army Corp of Engineers such as yours ;D . So the the 79 Toro is in fighting shape and ready to come out of it's corner.

I've sent a few suggestions to my fat buddy Guy
He doesn't seem to listen
He might be afraid I'd swipe the 68

Uhh, that's called a sloppy joe.
Not if you don't screw it up with ketchup. I've had them before (not Miles). They are good.

You use whatever sauce you wan, there' a lot better options than ketchup.

and you are right, but, not all sloppy joes are equal.

A friend went to the Gophers hockey game last night. Their season tickets are immediately behind what happened here.

Already had to use the mute button. Gus Johnson is so damn bad.
-
ESPN2?
I haven't turned the volume up yet
nice 4th down play by Purdue - NOT
-
Illinois-Purdue announcers sound good.
-
How to watch Purdue football at Illinois:
- Who: Purdue Boilermakers (5-4, 3-3 Big Ten) at Illinois Fighting Illini (7-2, 5-2)
- What: Purdue's first road game since a 35-24 loss at Wisconsin on Oct. 22
- When: Noon ET on Saturday, Nov. 12
- Where: Memorial Stadium in Champaign, Ill.
- TV: ESPN2
- Announcers: Jay Alter (play-by-play), Dustin Fox (analyst) and Lauren Sisler (Sideline).
-
What the hell happened to O'Connell? He is just bad now.
-
Ya well this mind couldn't handle Hurricanes every other week and my wallet wouldn't stretch to have digs constructed by the Army Corp of Engineers such as yours ;D . So the the 79 Toro is in fighting shape and ready to come out of it's corner.
I didn't mind the cold weather per se. It was the frozen tailgates that got to me.
-
Well the beer stayed cold and O'Connel was scarred from his madtown experience
-
Illinois-Purdue announcers sound good.
ok, I'll shut down the AC/DC High Voltage album and listen
-
Heh. I'm wearing an AC/DC t shirt right now.
-
7-7 in Champaign.
-
Rutgers?
-
IL TE dropped a sure touchdown.
-
And IL turns it over promptly.
-
he was down
the question is.... was it a catch?
-
I think it's an incomplete pass but there isn't enough to overturn.
-
good call by the replay
-

Apparently so.

Bert looks a little like Mangino
-
Bad call there.
-
the Ex-hawkeye ties it up
-
Bert looks a little like Mangino
Bert always looks like he's wearing a grill cover.
-
Was that fight coming out of halftime or from the start?
-
halftime
-
Fight?
-
Fight?
Bert vs Bert's belt
-
LSU getting all it can handle at Arky.
Kentucky getting all it can handle at home versus Vandy.
Mizzou staying in the game at Tennessee.
Interesting.
-
all 3 will be wins in the end and move up in the rankings
-
Illini killing themselves with penalties.
-
all 3 will be wins in the end and move up in the rankings
Tennessee pulled away. That one's over.
-
Snow flurries, a cold Canadian breeze from the northwest, and two running games that can't do anything. November football in Big Ten country at its finest.
-
After everything, Wisconsin and Iowa are probably playing for a spot in Indy
-
Yup. All Purdue fans are now making their Amazon orders for Gopher sweatshirts.
-
Michigan’s WRs suck. Ronnie Bell and Cornelius Johnson are scrubs.

Ole miss looks inspired early, Bama does not.

this is not how bama looks. This is how bama is. Bama is not good. They should have 4 losses right now.
-

Also 4 points from being undefeated, so.......that's a fun game to play.
.
Bama's sin this year is not playing like an all-time great team. Tsk tsk, I guess.
-
Good to see the Gators out-talenting someone and not playing from behind. 21-0 over Carolina at the end of the 1st.
-
Also:
Vanderbilt won an SEC game!
Had lost their previous 22 conference games.
-
Ole miss looks inspired early, Bama does not.
Alabama continuing to not look like Alabama as this season goes on. Down but with momentum after a TD cut Ole Miss’ lead to 10-7, Bama suffers a fumble at midfield, followed by a pass interference penalty. The Ole Miss WRs are burning Bama’s corners, scoring a TD to go up 17-7 with 5 min left in the 2nd Q.
Bama’s loss to LSU last week prompted a rush of articles questioning whether we’re witnessing the sudden decline of Nick Saban’s tenure? What’s to blame? I blame the Coordinators, especially Golding, the DC, who for some reason Saban is loyal to despite hiring him with little experience and despite his offseason DUI.
edit: anyone wondering how Bama’s defenses are worse off under Golding - their defense is undisciplined, giving up penalties you never saw under other coordinators, but also giving up a ton through the air.
-
Jim Harbaugh is terrible at clock management, offensive play calling, and the passing game. My god. How can he be such a good coach and so terrible at all of the above?
-
Wisconsin's offense looks very suspiciously like Iowa's.
-
Oops! Spoke too early.
-
Gophers lead 14 3 at the break. All of NU's yardage has been from 3 plays. Mo went to the locker room early.
Conditions have deteriorated noticeably over the halftime break here at the New Brickhouse. If this game gets out of hand I'll be entertaining arguments for going home early.
-
I understand why UT put that last score on mizzou... but I still don't like it.
Gotta say, I truly believe NIL is setting the CFB giants up for failure. Drama on the field, and in the locker room... especially in this era of changeover where a significant player isn't making a penny while some prima Donna who hasn't proven himself yet is making bank... thats gotta be hell on a team's chemistry.... and it appears some schools are managing it well while others are not.. aTm not- USCw is... Bama not- UT is... ect...
-
NU QB2 just got hit really hard and the cart has come out.
It just got cold as hell here.
-
I think Carolina has 3 lost fumbles on their last 4 plays. HAHAHAHAHA
-
I will never understand all this hype with Quinn Ewers.
-
Also 4 points from being undefeated, so.......that's a fun game to play.

Bama's sin this year is not playing like an all-time great team. Tsk tsk, I guess.
Meh. Bama has been pretty mid all year. They have NOT been the Bama of old- their defense is bad, their OL is bad, they struggle to impose their will on the ground game, their WRs are mid, they don't dominate the LOS on either side of the ball like they did in the past- and they have not been anywhere near the top echelon teams like UGA, tOSU, or MICH in terms of consistency and just bludgeoning opposing teams to death. I think Bama has the best Offensive player in the entire nation in Bryce Young and they have one of the most explosive playmakers in Gibbs, and they have maybe the best Defensive player in the entire nation in Will Anderson- but other than that- that team is MID af. And while Gibbs is explosive as all hell he isn't a tough runner or chain mover- he's not the type of mutant freak of nature backs they used to roll off the assembly line.
Bama is just a flawed team. They would honestly probably be a 6 win team without Bryce Young. I don't think there is one team in the nation more dependent on one player than Bama is on Bryce Young.
-
I will never understand all this hype with Quinn Ewers.
well he looked great early in the season before that injury. I saw him live in person in their season opener. Kid is impressive looking on the hoof and he's got a big time arm. And he really should be a true freshman right now- he reclassified from 2022 to 2021 last year to go to Ohio State early and take that fat NIL deal. Kid was suppose to be a senior in high school last year. He's still young with plenty of time to grow up.
-
Michigan is a boring ass team to watch- convinced their WRs suck ass. They'll be LEGIT if they can ever click on their down field passing game. Sh&t in one hand, wish in the other- see what happens first. It's frustating af to watch, but my god do they have a hell of an OL, talented RB's, a hell of a defensive front, and an awesome young defensive Co-ordinator who is a magician at making defensive adjustments. Oh and true frosh 5* Will Johnson is going to be a 1st round CB before he leaves- kid is flashing seriously these past two games.
-
Out in Eugene, Washington went 98 yards only to throw an interception on the Oregon 1. This is a corker of a game.

Yes. This game is extremely entertaining.
Texas v TCU is a good defensive struggle. Who knew?

Nebraska's season summed in one play....feel bad for these dudes. hopefully they'll be back soon. hire prime time and they will be.

Oregon playing some FLECK ball right now. They have had the ball for the first 10 minutes of the 4th quarter, and they are on the Washington 10.
-

Husker's only play of the game worthy of a highlight
-
Oregon promptly showed that they couldn't handle prosperity. The long drive stalled on the 10, they sent the kickoff out of bounds, and Washington scores on their 3rd play with a beauty of a tiptoe down the sidelines.
34 all, buckle up.
-

Frog defense is strong
tonight
-
Washington should have left Oregon a lot less than 54 seconds. Poor time management on their last series.
-
TCU giving the Horns a chance
-
Freakin' Zack Charbonny having a game and AZ/UCLA is Prime PAC after Dark.Sorry M fans but he was the best RB on their roster.Dude is solid follows blocks and hits the seems quick.Mike Wiley doing a good job toting the rock/receiving for the Wildcats. 28-24 with just under 7 to play in the 4th
EDIT: WildCats just get a TD on a 17 yd pass to McMillan they're up 31-28

Nah. Corum is better, and Donovan Edwards who has yet to start will be the best of them all.
I do agree Zach is probably better than Haskins. Haskins was a tough ass runner but had like no speed. Charbonnet isn’t a burner but he’s much faster than Haskins who was slowwwwww.

That'd be it for me in a big game,Mdot would be in meltdown mode too :D .Kinda funny - the shyt that Browns/Lions fans have experienced weekly since forever
Jayden de Laura AZ's QB having a nite 22/28,318yds, throwing 2 TDs and running for 1,dayum,AZ up 34-28 under a minute
-
'Cats/Bruins coming down to the wire,10 secs. left.Cats win 3 straight throws to the EZ.Oregon/Bruins both going down in great games tonite
-
Boy, the PAC really can't get out of its own way, can it
-
USC is their only hope.
The SEC is gonna get two teams - from the East!!
-
don't tell Cincydawg his cinderella story powder puff blue bruins went down
-
USC is their only hope.

B1G may well get two teams from the East as well, TCU and USC drop a game- might wind up being 2 teams from the SEC and B1G.
-
Clemson/NC St. winner gets in if that's the case
Especially if it's clemson
-
hot take of the week: Jesse Minter is a better DC than Mike McDonald, who he replaced. Both come from the Ravens 3-4 system, they run the same defense- but Minter seems to have a touch at making half-time adjustments that is other worldly.
Michigan in the 2nd halves of it's last 5 games? 117-3. In the final 10 quarters, Jesse Minter's defense has given up 3 points to Penn State, that's it.
-
Clemson/NC St. winner gets in if that's the case
Especially if it's clemson
committee has Clemson ranked like 9th. Not sure how they jump all the way from 9 to 4.
-
TCU, USC, Michigan, Tennessee, Bama - Jumped
Wait and see
the SEC might get two teams, the B1G will not

Ehhh, cancel that NC State prediction, lol
