We're going to find out what bama is really about this season here...

They've played closer than they should have several times, lost a very important component and recovered them, and dropped one that could just as easily been a win...

Are they going to play angry or mail it in?  I can promise LSU will bring whatever they have.  Will bama?  ......and.... I can't believe I'm asking an honest question along that line about a Saban coached team.

Bama had close games last year too (Auburn).  They seem to most seasons?  As noted here earlier, even "elite" teams have bad games, then great games, some of which may be random bounces.  This matchup obviously "counts" a lot.  It's "season ending" with a L for Bama.  LSU could still go 9-3 and have a nice bowl game.  Bama at 10-2 would consider it a near disaster.  My guess is Bama prevails but not without some molar gnashing.

I keep picking LSU to lose, eventually I'm going to be right.

Starting this week.

I don't think it will be particularly close, I'd take Bama to cover the 14 points.

There is a major talent and depth gap between these two teams.  Jayden Daniels' schtick doesn't look felicitous for this task.  As he goes, so goes the offense, and I don't think he's going anywhere.  The defense will fight hard and may get a few stops here and there, but they're not nearly talented enough for a team like Bama, particularly on the back end.

IF...if the crowd can razz the Gumps into another slew of penalties (don't know how likely that is), and if the special teams don't implode as they have every game sans Ole Miss, LSU could make enough of a game of it to make it worth watching for the casual fan.  I have my doubts, and I don't think this game will leave viewers with any.

Bama big....but if we later get past the Pigs and the Aggies, I'd consider this season a screaming success and the team ahead of schedule.

Yeah, well, our food is better.

Even our fast food restaurants.  You poor mentally handicapped people still think Zaxby's is on par with Raising Cane's.

i hate zaxby's.

my brother lives in nola, has for about 10 years now. me, my other brother, and my parents went to the sugar bowl couple years back when we played clemson in the cfp semi there. that was my first trip to nola. i got a ticket last minute and drove down that morning, went to game, stay the night with my brother who lives there, and drove back next morning. i had 1 request: i want to eat somewhere local. i don't have time to stay a while, i get 1 meal and then i gotta go. and nola is famous for its food, among other things. i want to good food.

everyone else was already there when i got there. we had about 3 hrs before the game, so i went to his house, jumped straight from my car into my brothers with everyone else, and we were off to eat and then the game. i didn't ask where we were going, i wouldn't know the names or reputation of how good it was anyway. i guess that was my mistake.

my dad and other brother (who had both been several times) had already decided where to go. when we pulled into buffalo wild wings i was so pissed. beyond incensed. they'd also picked one on the outskirts of town so "it would be less crowded". so i couldn't even go somewhere else quickly on my own.

30+ years old, never been to nola, first time going and i have a very short time for 1 meal. they take me to f-ing buffalo wild wings. i don't even like bww.

i've since been several times and had some really good food. some also not great, but still fun places.

Zaxby's is definitely meh, at best, I avoid it (and most large chains).

We had Indian at lunch at one of our two favorite Indian places.  We got there earlyish, and by 1 PM the place was packed, for lunch, which I take as a good sign.

One think I'd like to have in walking distance is a French bistro, a simple one, with good bread.

We have two Persian restaurants nearby, Korean, Italian, American, Tex-Mex, Chinese, pizza, Vietnamese, Thai, Japanese, ... and no French ....

No German either but I'm OK with that.

At authentic German restaurants the schnitzel comes with a side of European incursion.

Cincy had quite a few German restaurants, and German history, but they were not to my liking, most are gone now.  Ethnic food was not appreciated as much there as here I think, or maybe here is just larger.  We had a pretty good German dinner in Strasbourg as I recall.

Uh! Not all of them. Many years ago my brother and some co-workers were discussing where to have lunch immediately after clocking in on a Friday morning. My brother suggested Maspero's in New Orleans. Three of them agreed and they went to ask their boss for the rest of the day off. It was granted and they drove to Maspero's for lunch. From Irondale, a suburb of Birmingham!

Careful what you wish for. They will give you a better game than Bama would. Bama has a ton of problems right now with no end in sight.

True that.  Kelly has turned them around faster than most expected, I think, and they are a dangerous unpredictable team now.  The Vols beat them in BR, which now looks pretty special.

That game was dumb.

All that tells me is Alabama has problems and is more evidence they suck on the road this year.

Nah, they're still a ho-hum team with a major scholarship/roster deficit.  If they go on to meet UGA in Atlanta then Georgia will thump them a la Tennessee.

The rebuild is potentially ahead of schedule, though.  The best players on this team are true freshmen, which can be considered good news in the long run.  The two true freshmen tackles limited Will Anderson--potentially the #1 pick--to one sack and Dallas Turner,  a freshman All American last year and already considered a first rounder for 2024 to 1.5 sacks.  That's pretty good considering these kids were facing Joe Dirt from Eastside High School a year ago.  The whole OL should be back, in fact.  The freshman LB continues to play well and is a bright spot for the defense.  The freshman TE is starting to look pretty good too.  And lest the commentators fail to get the point across by mentioning it every 5 seconds...did you know that's Jason Taylor's kid?  *eyeroll*

LSU has always been an "emotional" team, with all the pros and cons that come with that.  I always wondered what the talent they pull in would look like if the players were more even-keel, disciplined, and focused on the "process" so to speak, rather than the outcome.  We'd have missed a lot of the highest highs, but perhaps won a few more close games in this series by avoiding the emotions that get them all jacked up on Mountain Dew.  That could be what Kelly is going to do in BR, though I suspect they won't be as entertaining to watch.

Just revisiting as the season closes....

UGA did thump us like I thought, but the game itself was better than I expected.  Either UGA is not as solid against the pass as they appeared, or LSU is that good, or some combination.  Still think the run game has got to improve, but next year's passing game stands to be really good.  Our little freshman line was not overwhelmed by UGA's front and both QBs shredded the Dawgs with a slew of receivers that will all be back.  QBs are both on board for now, though if Daniels wins the job again in the spring I expect Nussmeier to hit the portal.  Shame, I haven't felt this good about a backup QB in a long time.  Which you kinda need when a QB runs as much as Daniels does.

Defense will probably remain a work in progress.  Special teams.....yikes, well, they can only get better, you'd think.

Probably won't beat out Bama for the west again, but they currently seem headed in the right direction.

UGA stands to make a 3rd straight appearance in ATL, I think.

UGA won the SEC East twice in a row, not thrice, if it matters, 5 out of the last 6.

They only won it twice in 5 attempts.

Obviously, CJ Shroud was shredding them as well for most of the game.
