Area51 is a section on the Tennessee team board, and dedicated to taboo subjects- politics, religion... it get's sideways sometimes and isn't for the faint. If it takes off here I'm all for it- if it doesn't, it isn't a huge deal. the majority of those posters are intelligent and respectful- and i'm thinking they and the B10 type posters would mix well. I'd hold my breath about most the SEC participating with them... :-\

Living in DC last summer, my first thought was that it could be a reference for the push to make the DC the 51st state. I'm sure we all agree on a lot of national political issues, especially since the election, but I try to not to talk politics unless someone else brings it up.... Since I'm in the energy & sustainability space, I occasionally bring up clean energy (which is an increasingly bipartisan issue as it economics make it cost-effective) in the climate thread, but only if it's already being discussed.

Also: Drew! The functionality over here is a major leap for us. Thank you. I haven't actually used any of it yet, but the video embedding and ability to upload files (images) from our hard drives are major upgrades. Very nice to no longer be limited to links for videos and to images we can find online.

....at least there was(is) still and option, Cincy. I'm truly surprised they never force fed it to us there. How many iterations were there over the years? I recall one mid season that was horrid, and fortunately it only lasted a day or two.
i never paid much attention to it until lately, but one thing they did that really bothered me is the insane volume of tracking that site has always done... i get revenue to keep the lights on, believe me I do- but there is a point where it's a little counter-productive.
i'd like to see local's businesses buy adverts here... and the offer still stands for any charter member here to advertise for free- absolutely free... instead of bombarding you guys with crap you can see and even more crap (trackers) you can't. there are seven trackers on here- google(x4), amazon, viglink, mmedia(yahoo), and each of them serve a purpose to make the site relevant to search engines and give the joint cred.

This is sort of like how the Indians very tentatively moved into their new ball park (the mistake by the lake), playing some games at Muni. Stadium, then going back to League Park, before finally pulling the trigger after a few seasons. Let's hope this doesn't take that long.

most you folks with phones held portrait will see one thing... if you flip to landscape, which offers a touch more real estate, you'll see something different- still the same basic page, but with a little more function.
i also dumped a few decorations that were questionable to begin with, but turned out to be slowing things down some. so.... hopefully the foundation of this joint is solid, now.
i'm pretty dang happy to see folks participating. i don't know why it seemed so perverse to me to lose this group, but it did... it turns out when a few of us get our heads together we can pull stuff off... big thanks to [member=5]847badgerfan[/member] and [member=46]ALA2262[/member] for all the help. we're gonna be fine....
