First I'd pick the guys who are like all-time, possible best-ever, roster types:
Peter Warrick
Eric Berry
Champ Bailey
Tim Tebow
.
Then those who were bests, but maybe a step below....and maybe just a half-step:
Mark Messner
Warrick Dunn
Kevin Faulk
Bryant McKinnie
Marvin Jones
Reggie Bush
.
Wow, that's 10 already.  This is stupid-hard.
My "others" who just missed out, that wouldn't get many votes:
Pete Mitchell.....he was BC's only receiving threat at TE.  If he didn't do well, they didn't score, period.  That was a lot more common back in the 70s, but not in the 90s.
I also wanted to pick Corey Moore here.  A 220-lb DE who was UNBLOCKABLE on that Vick-led team in '99.  OTs had no chance.
.
With the rest, I have to gripe about the 'fame' guys, based on NFL exploits.  They were good, maybe fringe-All-Americans for a season, but have no business in a college football HOF.  I'm looking at Marvin Harrison, Mark Bavaro, Marshawn Lynch.  Why 95% of people are overtly unable to keep college and NFL separate is beyond me.
.
*PS - there's one and exactly one 3x consensus All-American on this list.  If that means anything, he should be the first one in.....and he's not on my list!

Check the list again - I forgot to add the new guys eligible this year, plus Ray Lewis wasn't in my initial source.

A few names that popped for me were Arrington, Gallery, Roy Williams, Hutchinson and Blackmon.

Lord that's too many names.

I hate that guys who are NFL busts are thought of as less-than, like Gallery.  Dude was a monster at Iowa.

Also, to this day, there are still only 1 kicker and 1 punter in the college HOF.

Wisconsin OT Chris McIntosh (and current UW AD) is also new this year. He is not HOF material though.

Troy Vincent was great. His teams sucked, but he was great.

Interestingly...

“Mom, grandparents knew that being close to home wouldn’t be in the best interest of myself and staying focused,” Vincent said on the Ray Didinger and Glen Macnow show on Philadelphia’s 94WIP. “So Wisconsin just happened to be the farthest school geographically that recruited me. If it was Utah, I would’ve went to Utah. If it was Wyoming, I would’ve went to Wyoming.”

List is complete now.....some great players in there, but didn't affect my 10 too much.

No deep dives here, I just tried off the top of my head, first reaction, and that trimmed it to 26.  Then I went back to see where I had 3+ guys at the same position.  If I can't say you were one of the 1 or 2 best at that position in the group, I can more easily rule you out.  Down to 12.

I'm having a hard time cutting 2 from this group.  The *right* answer is probably Randle-El and Janikowski.  But this is my gut, and Randle-El might be my all time favorite college football player who didn't play for a team I root for, and Janikowski, is yes a kicker, but still.    So I'll trim Gerhert and Mitchell

Mark Richt made the list apparently, not as a player, duh, interesting option.  I'm surprised Champ Bailey is not already in.

Do they have an event here to announce it?

It's an National Football Foundation thing, of which the HOF is a part of.  I think they have a dinner in Vegas for the entrants.

The 2022 College Football Hall of Fame Class will officially be inducted during the 64th NFF Annual Awards Dinner Presented by Las Vegas on Dec. 6 at the Bellagio Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. Click here (https://footballfoundation.org/feature/NFF2022) for more information on the event.

The inductees will also be recognized at their respective collegiate institutions with NFF Hall of Fame On-Campus Salutes, presented by Fidelity Investments, during the fall. Their accomplishments will be forever immortalized at the Chick-fil-A College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta, and each inductee will receive a custom ring created by Jostens, the official and exclusive supplier of NFF rings.

Based on his NFL stats and style, I always thought Shaun Alexander was a bit better than he was. Granted, he was a horse for a REALLY nice team that last year.

His college yards per carry weren't great, but he scored a lot of TDs.  My thing in watching him a lot was that he probably ran a 4.6, but always had defenders nipping at his heels as he stayed just out of reach.
