I haven't been to Vegas since they built the stadium - is it easy to get to?It's across the freeway from the strip, but it's walkable for the able bodied. I'd consider it easy to get to.
Our best OL just had an operation on his knee, he's out. Our best RB declared for the draft and will be sitting out.PAC refs? God, I hope not.
I'd be surprised if Wiscy doesn't take the rubber match.
This feels like a worse bowl than I'd expect for UW, but a better trip and different kind of matchup.I'm gonna be in PHX when this happens. Maybe I'll try to get there.
I approve.

I'm gonna be in PHX when this happens. Maybe I'll try to get there.Just a hop, skip and jump. What will have you in the valley of the sun?

I wonder if those are the largest two cities that shouldn't exist are not connected by a freeway rather directly.Fixed.
It's across the freeway from the strip, but it's walkable for the able bodied. I'd consider it easy to get to.I used to stay at Tropicana when I would go to Vegas. According to Google it is a 1.2 mi walk from there. Tropicana is at the corner of Las Vegas Boulevard (the Strip) and Tropicana Avenue along with NYNY, MGM, and Luxor so it would be about a mile from any of those. Somewhat closer to Mandalay Bay and somewhat farther from Caesars Palace, Treasure Island, The Venetian, etc. Not a bad walk and Vegas in December shouldn't be ungodly hot.
I've done the drive a few times, it is a little odd.My brother and I did a round trip of that drive in January, 2003. We flew in and out of Vegas and went to the BCSNCG/Fiesta Bowl at Sun Devil Stadium. It isn't a bad drive, 4:47 per google but we did it a LOT faster with only one ticket.
Probably won't be able to make trip this year.

Back then they hadn't built the bridge yet so US 93 still went across the Dam. We were advised by friends ahead of us to avoid the Dam because post-9/11 security was causing MAJOR delays getting through so we took US 95 South to NV 163 then crossed the Colorado River at Laughlin and got back to US 93 at Kingman.
The oddest thing about the drive to me was that on the return trip we could see light ahead almost from the time we got on US 95. It is amazing how far away you can see the light emanating from Las Vegas.
Nice.Price.
What did you like about Tropicana over, say, Luxor?
Price.I'll have to check that out.
Tropicana is a much older hotel. The cross-street (crossing Las Vegas Boulevard aka "The Strip") is called Tropicana Avenue because the Tropicana was the first thing built that far South. As I understand it, before Tropicana that was all undeveloped desert.
The Tropicana isn't as nice, but when I was going to Vegas I was a young guy not all that far removed from crashing on a futon in somebody's dorm so I really didn't need a "nice" room and it doesn't matter where you stay, you can obviously go to all the hotels/casinos/restaurants anyway. I liked it because it was right at the same corner with NYNY, MGM, Excalibur, Luxor but much cheaper.
Hundreds of swimmers every day, some with kids still in diapers. Others getting hammered without having to get out of the pool to order and receive a drink. So you know they aren't going to the restroom every single time that they have to pee. You are basically swimming in chlorinated toilet water.Isn't there some dye that when it contacts piss turns some color outing the culprits ?
They don't ever change that pool water btw. The three casinos in Mesquite NV near me still have the same water since at least when they reopened from Covid in May 2020. Fearless pees in the sand traps.Or in the woods as much time as much times as he spends looking for the ball
Or in the woods as much time as much times as he spends looking for the ballor in the fairway, or nearly anyplace on the course
There's no freeway connecting Phoenix with Vegas, which is strange. You have to take US-93.It's the future I-11. They've been working on it for years. The NV side is done. Th AZ side....has signs.
Fearless pees in the sand traps.Sand traps??? Those are litter boxes!
It's the future I-8. They've been working on it for years. The NV side is done. Th AZ side....has signs. The AZ side is 20 times longer.
I wonder if the Elgin-O'Hare Expressway will ever make it to Elgin or O'Hare. The O'Hare part is almost done. It comes in at I-90 (NW Tollway) where the old Des Plaines Oasis used to be. The Tollway took over the Elgin-O'Hare a few years ago and it is now known as IL Route 390.
And I can't wait to ride the bullet train from Bakersfield to Merced.
The ability to pee on the side of the interstate is an underappreciatedFIFYskill.experience
I want to drive up towards Tahoe one day, or maybe Montana. They have rabbits in Montana and you can marry a round American woman who will cook them for you
Penn State at 7-5 getting the Outback Bowl kind of screwed the West teams. But be thankful that you get to play another 8-4 team. Gophers are in Phoenix playing a 6-6 West Virginia team.Meh, try not to look down on us too much. WVU played more P5 teams than Minnesota (11-10) and more bowl eligible teams (8-6) and one of Minnesota’s bowl eligible opponents was Miami, OH. All 8 of WVU’s bowl eligible opponents were P5.
rabbits are EVERYWHEREWhat's the most unusual animal that you've ever eaten?
so are round American women, at least on this continent
rabbits are EVERYWHERENot in the Everglades...not anymore.

What's the most unusual animal that you've ever eaten?not sure - been to some wild game feeds
snake is better than bear IMOI've heard that you need to soak bear in milk to get rid of the intense gamey character. That was from a Canadian, who knew from experience lol.
Yes, but they also haven't done much of anything. I don't even think it's connecting into Phx, but 30-40 miles west of it on I-10....but it'll be better than what it is now.
You guys would love Wickenburg.....it has exactly 1 billboard and it always has some kind of radical conservative message on it.
The main stretch where an Interstate would noticeably better the 5 hour drive is on approaching the exurbs of Phoenix, between the 303 loop and the 101 loop. Those roughly 12 miles connecting Surprise, Sun City, and Peoria can chew up 45 tedious minutes of red lights, rail road crossings, school zones, and lost golf cart traffic. An interstate would cut that drive time to 10 minutes.I remember this even from back when I drove it with my brother in January, 2003. It seemed like the Exurbs and Suburbs of Phoenix started HOURS before we actually got to Sun Devil Stadium and it has to be even worse now.

Though more often than not I fly to vegas rather than drive.
When I map it, google tells me to take US93/US60 to the 303 loop then to take 303 South to I10 and drive into Phoenix on I10. Assuming that 303 is limited access this would probably save a LOT of time.
LAS VEGAS BOWL |
Wisconsin Badgers (8-4) vs. Arizona State Sun Devils (8-4) |
Thursday @ 10:30 - Las Vegas, NV - ESPN |
After a rough start that put Wisconsin's bowl streak in jeopardy, a total turnaround, combined with some well placed losses among their division rivals put Bucky back in position to reach the conference championship game...again. Their offensive issues reared their head again in the season finale against Minnesota, and as the Gophers got a rare win in the rivalry, it kept Wisconsin from a chance to play for the Rose Bowl. Instead, Wisconsin will have to settle for a revenge game, in a trend among the second tier Big Ten bowls. Minnesota has to return to the site of the biggest blown lead in bowl history; Purdue has to return to the site of their blood bath a couple years ago; and now Wisconsin has to face an opponent that they should have beaten, save some Pac 12 officials. Everyone laughed at the Herm Edwards hire, but the early returns were solid. More recently? Meh. There are the obvious NCAA issues, but the program has stagnated again. They went 8-4, so it's not a fireable offense, but it also no longer feels like the program is building towards anything. Their best two running backs leaving the team (one opting out, one transferring to Ohio State) does not build confidence either. The story for both offenses was a reliance on the running game, after both had highly touted quarterbacks fail to take the next step. Graham Mertz has been nothing but unfulfilled promise since his recruiting rankings; while Jayden Daniels flashed so much promise early in his career, but has failed to develop. The difference is Wisconsin has leaned on a true freshman back in Braelon Allen, to resurrect their offense, to an extent, from September, who will play in the game; while Arizona State just leaned harder into Rachaad White, who has opted out to focus on the NFL Draft. The Sun Devils need Daniels to be the guy they expected to have in 2021, rather than the guy they got. Daniyel Ngata is the only Arizona State back with any amount of run this season who has played this year. And that run was mostly early in the year. Over Arizona State's last seven games he totaled just 8 carries. Which still leaves him as the only available back with more than 20 rushing yards on the season. |
WISCONSIN 30, ARIZONA STATE 17 |
Interstate 11, currently from Vegas to the Arizona State line is at some point planned for an ambitious extension all the way past Tucson to I-19 connecting Mexico, with a joint sharing of I-10 between Tucson and Phoenix. That's the thing, it's planned to go directly south from Wickenburg, staying 15-20 miles west of the 303. It will not replace that stretch of US 60 you highlighted (Grand Ave).
Until then the Highway 60 to I-40 trip from the Nevada State line through Kingman and back onto Highway 60 through Wickenburg is fine, with many stretches of it already with duel lanes. Having lived in the Southwest for most of the past 15 years, I’ve driven the Las Vegas to Phoenix “Hangover Highway” route plenty of times, back all the way to when Wickenburg was more famous for which Hollywood celebrities were checking into its naturalistic rehab clinics.

US 93 North of Vegas is awesome. You go through a bunch of cool little towns all the way up eastern Nevada with Ely being the best one. Then Twin Falls ID and Missoula MT up to the Canadian border where it becomes Canada 93, which runs just west of both Calgary and Edmonton.
I don't like Las Vegas. I don't care about gambling and the town is synthetic and boring.Uhh, yeah. Vegas sucks.
There, I said it.
Aw I like Vegas. Mostly due to all the spectacle and the shows. Just walking around the Strip on a Friday night is plenty o fun on its own.The strip is full of people. Congested, annoying people. People suck.
not many golf coursesToo many sand traps
Chicago and SoCal are full of people. Congested, annoying people. People suck.Fify
I am always a little weary about those Nevada girls. You just never know which ones have done a stint in one of those trucker brothels. And they never know which seedy souls liked hanging out in H👀ters

And yes, once you get away from the Strip and downtown it's a dirty city that feels like it could get blown away at any time.
