Bama wanted Cincinnati, and here they are. They got Cincinnati. Set December 31st. First line is Bammer -12.5
-
might as well be a 1st round bye. would be hilarious if Cincy won though. Fickell could name his price at any job out there if that happened.
-
Alabama will be rightfully favored, but probably not by a ton. Cincy will need to hold up in the trenches mainly - they will porbably have a lot of tricks up their sleeves if they can keep it close.

I'm rooting for the midget

I think Fickell can do it...
...he's never been a Saban assistant coach :57:
-
Bama is a 13.5 point favorite at this point.
-
Cincydawg is hoping for a Cincy-Dawg NCG.
-
That WOULD make my day.
-
Bama is a 13.5 point favorite at this point.
initial reaction:
Georgia opening as an 8.5 point favorite over Michigan is absolutely ridiculous. Should be 2 or 3, and could even make a case Michigan should be the favorite.
Bama opening as a 13.5 point over Cincy is a joke. They should be 21 point favorites at worst.
-
yup, I'm taking Bama and giving the 14
I'd guess the line will go up soon
-
A lot of SEC fans must be betting early is all I can say.

And people who like making money.
And people with eyes.
And people with brains.

Probably a tough line to set - have to account for all the rubes who would take Alabama -75
-
Think about it - the line is 13.5 with Bama's top pass-catcher out.

What am I thinking about? Alabama was a 19.5 point favorite last year against Notre Dame
-
That was a much better Tide team, wasn't it?
I'm not sure what you expect to happen, aside from the obvious. Yay! Cincinnati got their participation trophy! At the expense of being impaled on a baseball bat in front of 15 million people!
-
Top pass catcher out? Jameson Williams?

Metchie is their #2 WR. Jameson Williams is their go to guy. You know, the same guy that was 4th string at Ohio State.

?? Is your point that Notre Dame and Ohio State shouldn't have been given a chance last year, because they were both impaled by a baseball bat in front of 15 million people? Should every game we think might be a blowout not be played? Seriously - what is the point here?
-
I'm glad UC got in the mix, come what may. See what they have. I think they are better than some credit them, but not as good as the good Bama team.
-
Man, worst Bama team in what? Six, seven years? Still get the one seed?
That's quite a machine that Saban has going there.
-
but not as good as the good Bama team
A recurring theme in college football
-
might as well be a 1st round bye.
It is a first round bye. Cincinnati doesn't have a single player who would start on any of the other three CFP teams.

Nope, not if you are thinking ahead.
Cincinnati's inclusion is an absolute joke but it also deprived a legitimate team of a spot. If yours is a P5 team then you want Bama to massacre Cincy because next time the legitimate contender deprived of a spot to make room for some joke G5 team could be your P5 team.
-
God I hope Cincinnati wins by two scores.

No.
Roll Tide!

I have not looked, but I suspect this is incorrect.

The fifth place team is the Notre Dame team that Cincinnati soundly defeated.

I'll start at QB, where Desmond Ridder is better than either Bennett or McNamara

It depends on how you view the SECCG, the B1GCG, and The Game.
Prior to their last two game Michigan didn't look very good at all. Most of us (you included) picked tOSU for a reason. Michigan has looked great these last two games but they didn't look anything like that in the vast majority of their first 11.
Similarly, UGA looked nearly invisible up until the SECCG.
If you view the three aforementioned games as aberrations them UGA -8.5 is frankly too low. Two weeks ago I'd have expected UGA -8.5 against tOSU and Michigan didn't look as good as tOSU. Now, who knows.

Facts.
-
Cincinnati would lose to all three, because they can't complete in the trenches. But that doesn't mean they haven't earned the chance to prove they can't, and they wont

Please think of the unfairness to Baylor

It isn't them so much as the UGA/M winner. Whoever wins that game is going to be beat up from a tough physical game then they are going to have to play a well rested opponent that had an easy tune-up game.

Well, that's life. It's no different than in 2019 when OSU had to play Clemson and LSU got to play Oklahoma.
-
So the one seed gets a favorable path over the others?
That's outrageous!
-

Would any of 5 QBs on ALA, UM, or UGA have done anyy worse?

Here's your answer, all tied up in a pretty bow.

I expect more from you than this.

Easier path, bye; Potato, Potatoe.

YES

thats what happens when you beat the number 1 rated team in the nation
-
Would any of 5 QBs on ALA, UM, or UGA have done anyy worse?
Yes. If you told me MSU suddenly had a backdoor to the playoffs, but we had to use a starting QB from another CFP team. My choice, in order, would be Young, Ridder, McNamera, Bennett
-
Here's your answer, all tied up in a pretty bow.
I just like results to matter. Sue me. I'd rather see Cincinnati, who beat #5, but was not tested as frequently, get a chance to prove it, over a bunch of teams getting their 3rd chance to prove it.
-
YES
What's your evidence?

I was genuinely agreeing with you.

I love how everyone already is acting like Alabama has a semifinal bye and will be well rested for the CFP final.
If Alabama's players are already thinking that... They might be well rested and on their asses watching the CFP final on TV.
-
I don't think "we" give UC enough credit for their season, and last year as well, but I think Bama will beat them, it just won't be a major blow out. It could be of course, "we" forget how lame Bama has looked most of this year.

bama has been helter skelter at best this season. the seccg was first game in which they played well for the whole game. this bama team has the potential to be really good, but they've only realized that potential once. they've managed to survive on 1-2 good qtrs in several games, but i think cincy is good enough to not fall that way. bama will have to play good. and if they do, should win comfortably, but that's a pretty big IF this season. i'm glad they got their shot and almost sad it's vs bama, as i'd be pulling for them otherwise.
we lost metchie. dude doesn't have the flash of j williams, but he was so clutch in many games. and finished 3rd all time in catches for a single season for bama, behind smitty and cooper. we will miss him.
but bama is also getting a lot of talent back from injury. star dline chris allen will likely be back. also getting a cople reserve wr's back, so maybe one of them can step up in place of metchie.

They will be.

Last I checked neither I nor anyone else on this board play for Bama or any other team. Frankly, the mediots building up of Cincy as a legitimate challenger who has been held back too long by some conspiracy helps Bama here. Cincy would be easy to overlook in an early-season game but this isn't that. This is a CFP Semi-Final and a lot of the media will be talking about ways that Cincy could win. Bama will be ready and Cincy will get rolled.

Bama did have close games but so did Cincy. The difference is that Bama's were against competent opponents while Cincy's were against their joke of a schedule. Here are their two schedules ranked by CBS's 1-130 rankings:
Cincy's opponents were only tougher at the #11 and #12 spots and both were only barely tougher (118 vs 119 and 124 vs 127) and in any case that is so far down the schedule that it really makes little or no difference anyway because these games should clearly be easy wins for either team.
Bama, like all P5 teams, had to play teams that could at least plausibly knock off a NC Contender week after week. Their nine SEC opponents (incl SECCG) and their OOC game against Miami, FL were all against teams in the top half of CBS's 1-130 rankings. Cincy played half that many such opponents even giving them credit for #67 ECU. Ie, Bama had twice as many opponents good enough to give them a scare.
-
I bet they don't have the balls to sit out their starters, like an NFL team that has already clinched the one seed in the playoff.

In that scenario, the NFL team literally doesn't care if they lose. It has no bearing on their ability to win a Super Bowl.
In this case, an Alabama loss would end their bid for the MNC. So no, I don't think they'd sit any starters.

I hope Cincy kicks their ass, but I don’t see it happening.
Bama beats Cincy, UGa beats Mich, and then UGa gets a 2nd shot.

do you trust Kirby? Seems to be a choker in the big games. If he even gets past Michigan, Saban will just pants him again.
