Another beautiful day in the capital city - not sure what we will be doing. My buddy is a big ND fan and just put in a pool. I guess the temperature will reach 80 today, but feels too cold to go swimming. Well, not that I would be swimming, and the kids probably don't care. In any event, will be a nice day to be outside drinking some Oktoberfest and watching the Big Ten. Iowa made a skid mark out of Maryland last night - hoping Rutgers doesn't do the same to OSU.
Schedule:
Noon
- #14 Michigan at Wisconsin, FOX
- Charlotte at Illinois, BTN
- Minnesota at Purdue, BTN
3:30
7:30
- Indiana at #4 Penn State, ABC
- Western Kentucky at #17 MSU, FS1
- Northwestern at Nebraska, BTN
Others
- #8 Arkansas at #2 Georgia, Noon, ESPN
- #7 Cincinnati at #9 Notre Dame, 2:30, NBC
- #12 Ole Miss at #1 Alabama, 3:30, CBS
- #21 Baylor at #19 Oklahoma State
-
Mornin' Sam.
If the pool has a heater, no problem.
How can you be friends with an ND fan?
I think Mert (lost his Z) just threw another pick-6.
-
Hey man nothing wrong with being an ND fan, though pretty crazy that Cincinnati is the biggest game on their schedule.
-
That's mean.
-
I stayed up too late last night seeing a movie and getting a drink with a friend.
Today someone is hosting a party. It’s not football centric, but there will be football on. I might try to bring baked goods from a place I like.
Trying to build up the gumption to exercise.
-
That's mean.
Heh not trying to be mean, but ND played Wiscy and FSU and will play USC, North Carolina, Stanford and Virginia Tech. But there is one ranked team on the schedule right now, and it's the Bearcats.

Wow Iowa.
Beautiful day here in sunny South East Florida. Already went fishing at sunrise for an hour and a half or so.
Full day of college football with some sautéed rock fish on the grill planned for this evening.
-
What did you catch, besides the rock fish?

What did you catch, besides the rock fish?
The rockfish was purchased from a local fish store because it’s generally caught in deeper waters.
I was fishing for snook and had one good sized one on but did not land him. Fishing standing on the beach because the mullet migration has begun and the predator fish like Snook and Tarpon or right up in close to shore.
-
Can snook be caught now? I don't think we can over here. Most of the guys in the inland (brackish) waters are taking trout right now.
-
Snook can be caught year-round but can only be kept in season, and over here at least season began September 1. They are plenty for to catch right now to because of the mullet migration.
The trout and redfish Are pretty readily available for catching as well.

If anyone deserves it, yes. But the way things are now, I'm not sure why you would ever name anything after anyone anymore.

Dog slept in until after 7, so I'm walking him now. Then need to hurry to the gym so I can be back for the 9 AM kickoff.
After the game, we were going to take him to the dog park and a brewery but apparently it's gonna be 90 today, so never mind. We might still do the brewery with him though, just picking one closer to the ocean where it'll be a lot cooler. Or we'll just go and leave him home lol.
Doing two new cooks this weekend. Wife is making grilled marinated shrimp skewers tonight and I'm doing Hunanese lamb chops with mushrooms tomorrow.

40th high school class reunion 2-evening event started yesterday
golf/bowling, vineyard visit/wine drinking, taco bar and bonfire watching the Hawkeyes Friday
my head hurts a bit this morning

Will the Badger-Wolverine game live up to its billing?
-
The early slate of today's kickoffs is fantastic! Will need three TVs to keep track of:
#8 Arkansas at #2 Georgia
#14 Michigan at Wisconsin
Texas at TCU

texas at TCU?

A future vegan society will detonate the site and turn it into rubble, due to his unwavering love of brats.

texas at TCU?
In a sense, yes, I'm intrigued. Texas has lost to TCU 7 of their last 9 meetings despite talent advantages. And this time around, after bagging on the Sark hire all offseason, he's showing fundamental signs of improving as a coach since his underwhelming days at Washington and SC. For example after the Longhorns were pummeled by Arkansas, Sark was very quick to employ a number of adjustments, to include the QB, which was not characteristic of his more stubborn earlier self. In turn his roster, instead of going into a rut after Arkansas, responded positively with two straight blowouts, spurred by an offense that appears much more advanced and wide open than under Herman or Strong. So yes, I'll be taking note of how the Longhorns appear against an opponent that's given them a decade of headaches. After TCU, the Longhorns next three opponents - Sooners, Cowboys, Bears - are all ranked.

I didn't realize how bad he was at Washington and had to look it up, suspecting a typo here. But you are right, he was mediocre as all get out.
How did he land the USC job with that resume?
Why did Texas take a flyer on him when his resume was that, plus a dumpster fire experiment from Hell at USC?
Lane Kiffinesque.
-
Stetson Bennett getting the start for Georgia.
-
why would they run a route with a WR short of the sticks on 3rd and short? And man, McNamara is looking shaky on the only 3 passes he's thrown so far. Gonna be a long day.
-
they run ANOTHER route short of the sticks on 3rd down. These are not check down throws to RB's. These are actual routes by WR's and TE's. Wtf?
-
No conversion that time
-
stupid play-call on 4th down. Should've tried some motion and then play-action all day long. Wisconsin was selling out to stuff the run there.
-
If I'm Michigan's AD I am 100% chopping Jim Harbaugh's nuts off this off-season. I'd hire the OC and offensive staff and tell Jim he's not even allowed in offensive meetings and his mic is to be cut-off when the offensive plays are being called. If he doesn't like it- I'd just fire him.

Update: I got lost on my run.
I was trying to stick with some local greenways. Didn't realized it was 1.5 miles form one to another. Then I though there were two legs that were not linked, but they are. So I went way longer than I planned. That said, I learned the closer path was longer than I thought (there's a turnoff into a neighborhood for 3 blocks).
I gotta see people today, but can get in a lot of this game, which I hopefully will if UW isn't playing like trash.

That is a crime.

Many Saints of Newark. It's not that good of a film, but if you liked the show, it has some fun callbacks.

figuratively, not literally.
Brandon Jacobs was 100% right about Harbaugh.

this disappoints me greatly to hear this. I was planning to go see it in theaters on Sunday. My hopes are extremely high, because I loved the show.

I think it's worth seeing, just because there are some pretty fun moments and callbacks. The woman who plays his mother is excellent. But the plot it's well put together.
-
Michigan almost effed up that 3rd down, then Wisconsin couldn't finish. BLERG.
-
Jack Sanborn just took out his own guy to give up a first down
-
Michigan almost effed up that 3rd down, then Wisconsin couldn't finish. BLERG.
that was pure dumb luck. McNamara almost took a safety, somehow escaped. Corum made a HELL of an effort though to get that 1st down. He's a heck of a player. Really like that kid. McNamara is looking like shit, per usual.
-
Some great hyphenated and triple names in this Hogs Dawgs game.
Hay Henry my favorite. Very XFL ish.
-
Wisconsin's punter might be the best player on either team. That guy can freaking boom it.
-
I'm starting to think all Minnesota vs Purdue games will now always feature a controversial TD that screws Purdue over.
-
McNamara's arm is so weak. That's a TD to Edwards with a guy with a gun.
-
Dawgs with a fast start. Their D might be decent.
-
Flea flicker!
-
ok that was a great throw. best throw i've ever seen Cade make.
-
Michigan has points, and this is over.
-
Wiscy offense is rough, man
-
Hutchinson was held like a mofo and still caused the sack lol. Kid is a freaking BEAST.
-
Wiscy offense is rough, man
Offensive lines. What are they?
-
Uga just mauling the Hogs. Now a block punt td . 21-0. Ark can't do a thing offensively.
-
they are throwing to Roman Wilson! Finally. Lol. Kid ran a laser-timed 4.32 in the 40 at those nike things. He can fly.
-
Uga just mauling the Hogs. Now a block punt td . 21-0. Ark can't do a thing offensively.
They have one yard.
-
BUCKY NO!
-
what is there to review? the ball hit wisconsin player and michigan recovered it.
-
Man, bonehead mistakes by Wisconsin is a real theme this year
-

their special teams are a real problem, and Mertz' turnovers have been a problem.
-
Defense still good though
-
Defense still good though
Jim Leonhard is who I'd hire if I was a B1G team looking for a new head coach.
-
David Ojabo & Aidan Hutchinson combo on the edges is nasty. These are both future 1st round picks.
-
I'm starting to think all Minnesota vs Purdue games will now always feature a controversial TD that screws Purdue over.
Yep. I was on my way back from the gym when I heard the TD and turned on the TV as soon as I walked in the door. Realized it wasn't just the homer Purdue radio crew calling it BS. Everyone on BTN said it was incomplete too.
-

Lol, nobody wants the offense Wisconsin has. Michigan DEs are running Euclidean circles around the Badgers’ tackles.
-
I can’t remember Wisconsin offense this bad.
-
First pass McNamara tries to force one into double coverage. 2nd down McNamara throws pass to no one. Wtf?
-
Arky stopped UGA 24-0 now.
-
First pass McNamara tries to force one into double coverage. 2nd down McNamara throws pass to no one. Wtf?
Feels like a game Michigan can't lose if he doesn't throw picks, but he's gotten pretty close to a few
-
I can’t remember Wisconsin offense this bad.
they have -2 total yards.
-
Wiscy realizing there is space on the field
-
Purdue TEs producing with Payne Durham out. Garrett Miller with a long reception hurtling a DB for more and two reception by former 4* QB recruit Paul Piferi.
-
Mertz looking good. Taking big shots and still making throws.
-
Michigan defense looks like it's taking a nap after dominating most of the game...
-
why go away from the run when it's working? McNamara LOVES to throw into double coverage. WTF is wrong with this guy? Johnson was double covered.
-
Michigan defense looks like it's taking a nap after dominating most of the game...
Worth pointing out Michigan’s CBs played way off the line of scrimmage that past drive, which played into Mertz getting more time on passes. Also, on the lower side, Wisconsin’s line doubled up against the DE which allowed Mertz to move the pocket right and buy himself more time.
Play the Corners right back on the LoS and let the DEs do the rest, Michigan!
-
Illini losing to Charlotte 14-10 SMDH
Boilers up on the Goophs 13-10 , both at the half
-
McNamara threw a ball on 3rd down that would've given Michigan a 1st down way behind Baldwin, causing Baldwin to juggle it and get BLOWN up by the Wisconsin LB. McNamara throws that in stride- that's a 1st down and his WR doesn't take a kill shot.
McNamara is so up and down. I think JJ McCarthy will eventually get a shot before long.
-
Illinois is losing at halftime to Charlotte.
After spanking UNC last week, GA Tech has allowed 42 pts to Pitt....in the first half.
Tennessee has 42 pts before the half vs Mizzou. I guess it's easier sledding for them than it was in the Swamp last week.
Arkansas is not bonafide.
-
Dax Hill just got beat there. Kid is not playing like the 5* he did when he was a frosh. So up and down. He's frustrating.
-
Illini losing to Charlotte 14-10 SMDH in the 3rd
Boilers up on the Goophs 13-10 at the half
In the elimination game I was trying to decide whether to choose Illinois because I know I can't pick them ever again this season, or go elsewhere and hope Illinois loses, thinning the field, and the elimination game ends early enough in the season I never HAVE to choose them.
I chose Illinois this week.
Hoping I don't get the worst of both worlds...
-
UGA 24-0 halftime. Covered the spread. So far.
-
Dax Hill just got beat for a 36 yard deep throw and for a TD. WTF is wrong with him? Kid is a 5* playing like a no star.
-
Fricken cable went out at the end of 1st Quarter.
Keeping an ion it through ESPN’s play my play on my iPhone. Did the badgers just go down the field in less than a minute and score on Michigan?
-
The last drive was SHOCKING. Dax Hill got TORCHED back to back plays. Deep ball and a TD.
Now it's a 3 pt game and Wisconsin gets the ball at half.
-

No, your phone is lying to you. AI has taken over. Go to your fallout shelter stocked with 10 years' worth of food, water, and inflatable sheep.
-
I'm benching McNamara 2nd half and giving JJ McCarthy a shot if I'm Michigan's coach. They need a spark. McNamara has been off on so many throws to open guys. Can't keep doing this shit. They need to score TD's.
-
prediction:
Michigan will lose this game if McNamara isn't benched.
-

I went with the "Let's hope the game ends without needing to use Illinois" strategy.
-
Ugh. Gophers get the ball to start the glass, and three plays later score a TD to go up 17-13.
-
Texas isn't losing to TCU at the half.
-
I will admit that I was REALLY close to doing something I've never, ever done.
I about turned off a Badger game.
As soon as my wife walked in the door, everything changed. She was an hour late coming home too.
Damn women.
-
if a team is down 10-13 at the half, how do you know they are losing?
-
GT went back to artifical grass. Bummer.
-
12 straight running plays for UGA, make it 13.
14, and a FG.
-
looks like Dax Hill sack knocked Mertz out the game. Dax is the DB who gave up the 40 yard bomb and then the TD on the following play.
-
and heating up young Mr. Wolf
-
and heating up young Mr. Wolf
Dax Hill looks to have taken those brain farts to the end 1st half personally. He's been all over Wisconsin this 2nd half.
-
keep McCarthy in....wtf.
-
looks like Dax Hill sack knocked Mertz out the game. Dax is the DB who gave up the 40 yard bomb and then the TD on the following play.
He’s redeeming himself. The design blitz to let Hill loose was a thing of beauty. For all the foot-stomping over Harbaugh’s stubbornness and predictable coaching, Jimmy’s staff is completely out coaching Paul’s.
-
pretty close to being done with McNamara. Even on that deep ball to Roman Wilson- it was an AWFUL throw that was underthrown that Wilson had to comeback for and make a circus catch on. Wilson was WIDE open he burned that CB. A throw into the end-zone- that's 6.
McNamara isn't going to lose you a game- but he's not going to win you shit. He's just average at best.
-
that was a 4th and less than 1. They should've did a fake punt with Barrett or go for it with McCarthy having a run-pass option.
-
Arky had three flags on their D in one play.
-
mdot, have you ever coached?
Seemingly awful players are left in because the alternative is worse.
They're up 10, on the road. Not a great idea to pull your QB.
-
Purdue with 328 offensive yards to MN's 231. 23 first downs to 9.
Of course they trail 17-13.
-
Jump around as a thing they need to include in broadcasts is extremely played out
-

Well the EP is zooming in on every awkward person they can find.
Back before the PC days, they'd find all the talented ladies. But no longer.
-
David Ojabo is so fkn disruptive. Why do they ever take him off the field for Jaylen Harrell? Makes no sense to me.
-

They're in Wisconsin. They have plenty more options.

McCarthy is just so much more talented. They need to make that switch at some point this year.
-
Apparently today is the first game that a Purdue opponent OL has been called for a holding penalty, and I think to date there hasn't been a single one on the player blocking Karlaftis.
That seems... odd.
-
Ouch, Arky exposed. 34-0. Great run by Zeus.
Oh, and their starting QB has been out the entire game.
-
Wisconsin defense is so good. This game should be 40-10 right now.
-
Michigan is a QB and CB away from being elite. IF Ambry Thomas had come back this year and IF JJ McCarthy was ready to take over this year- this team would be LEGIT.
-
Dax Hill has been playing out of his mind this 2nd half. He really took that end of the 1st half to heart lol.
-
Metz hurts.
-
Anyone else unable to find the Notre Dame-Cincinnati game?
-
Anyone else unable to find the Notre Dame-Cincinnati game?
suppose to be on NBC. It's 0-0 right now according to ESPN.
-
Some obscure channel.....NBC.
-
ND was driving but Coan threw a horrid interception. Cinci punted. There is your update
-
Cornelius Johnson & Roman Wilson are clearly very talented. As is AJ Henning. So is Erick All at TE. Michigan has athletically talented pass catchers. What they need is better QB play.
-
It's supposed to be on NBC. But it isn't.
-
Glad we're paying the "offensive genius" Brohm almost $6M per year and we can't score more than 13 points three weeks in a row.
-
Arky has zero yards rushing.
-
Odd decision to use your oars for a field goal. A first down ends game.
-
David Ojabo with another sack. He was a freakish but raw athlete as a recruit. We're seeing that freakish athleticism translate on the field this year. The emergence of Ojabo to go along with Hutchinson takes this defense to another level. Which one do you double?
-
Student section in Madison empty and completely given up by now. Kinda like Badger Tackle Tyler Beach giving up all game. His no-show is among the worst OL performances I’ve witnessed. Michigan DEs burned him all game.
-
What NBC are you watching?
-
It's supposed to be on NBC. But it isn't.
I found it.
It is on the CW.
-

Their entire OL got their ass whipped this game. Hutchinson & Ojabo alone destroyed that OL.
-
Minnesota did not win that game. Purdue lost it.
-
one throw shows you all you need to know- JJ McCarthy is SO much more talented/gifted than McNamara.
That throw was a freaking BEAUTIFUL throw.
-
Most importantly, who would win if Purdue played Bowling Green?
-
David Ojabo blew that play up...AGAIN. His first step and acceleration and ability to close the distance is insane. This guy is a future 1st round pick. Michigan has two absolute terrors on the edges.
-
Rules questions:
- Punt returner signals fair catch. The ball hits the turf and bounces several times before he picks it up. I thought that negated a fair catch? It wasn't material to the game (returner basically stood up "surrendering" and coverage team didn't hit him, play dead). But I thought a fair catch had to be caught on the fly?
- Kickoff returner calls a fair catch inside the 10, which normally would be the equivalent of a touchback. He drops the ball and immediately picks it up. Because of the fair catch signal, he can't advance the ball, but the refs spotted it on the 8 where he picked it up instead of the offense starting on the 25. If this still counts as a fair catch that he can't advance, shouldn't the refs spot it on the 25 as a valid fair catch?
-

Yeah, garbage time is best for evaluating your players.
-
Yeah, garbage time is best for evaluating your players.
Wisconsin still had their 1st team in and it was 3rd and 7. McCarthy has made throws in very limited action this season that McNamara could just never dream of making. McCarthy has special in that right arm. Time to unleash it.
-
Cincy with another pick
-
I will admit that I was REALLY close to doing something I've never, ever done.

And ND muffs the kickoff

Beach has been horrible all year. He needs to sit, the season is lost anyway. Time to play the kids.
But, that won't happen.
-
I had to go back and look. UW starts 1-3 for the first time since 1990 - King Barry's first season. And they managed to do it on Barry Alvarez Day in Madison.
Called for it last week, and I'm gonna call for it again.
Rudolph and Haering have to go. OL and ST both suck.

Didn't care for Michigan blue pants.

I think David Ojabo is a RS Frosh. This kid is from Africa but grew up in Scotland before coming to America and he didn't start playing football until he was like 16 or 17 years old. He only played two years of high school football, he was into track and soccer. Ojabo came into Michigan a freakish athlete but raw, and he was kicking Beach's ass all day long. Kinda felt bad for the guy.
-
Didn't care for Michigan blue pants.
I liked them personally.
-
Henderson...still good
Lol was he never not good? OSU almost got Henderson & Donovan Edwards. They were like *this* close. Bastards.

I saw the play you refer to in Example #1. I didn't know the rule if a ball is caught on the bounce after a fair catch signal. If that is valid for kickoffs, seems like maybe the receiving team should almost always call fair catch for onside kicks so the kicking team has to stand at least a yard away from the ball, to allow the catch.
-
Buckeye defense looking spry... 14-0
-
Looks like OU's uniforms were laundered with Kansas St in hot water
-
Take a moment to enjoy.....the first 4 channels for me are an SEC game between ranked teams, a Big XII game with a ranked team, ND losing, and a Pac-12 game with a ranked team.
This is great stuff.
-
Also, on the UW loss...
Can someone tell the staff that it's OK to score TD's during the whole game, rather than in the final minute of each half?
That would be good.
-

That second TD was garbage time vs the 2nd and 3rd stringers.
First one was actually impressive. But Michigan helped out by squibbing a kick and then Dax Hill who usually never gives up big plays- got BURNED to a crisp on back to back passes. Dax Hill came out that second half like a man possessed though and was playing like he took giving up that 40 yard bomb and the TD personal.
-
Cinci up 17-0 vs ND in South Bend. Irish look like shit. I find it funny that USC fans don't want Fickell lol. They all want Urban or nothing.
-
Buckeyes seem a bit better...24-0
-
There's the defense. Cruikshank with the big play. 24-7
-
There's the defense. Cruikshank with the big play. 24-7
Yeah, They gambled. corner blitz. Live by the gamble, die by th gamble.
-
'Shank would look really good in Madison right now. Homesickness brought him out there.
-
Cinci with a big pass down field. Bout to make it 24-0 on ND. Time to make a QB change methinks Brian Kelly.
-
So you should change your QB when you're up 10 late in the game AND when you're being shutout early in the 2nd half?
Got it.
-
Oregon down 10 in the 2nd.
-
Cincy fg operation very Nebraska esque
-
Cincy fg operation very Nebraska esque
dude. for real. Cinci keeping ND in this by missing ALL the FG's.
-
ND making it a game. 17-13
-
Cincinnati is going to regret coming away empty on back to back red zone trips, with a chance to put it away 17-0
-
ND making it a game. 17-13
Cinci has missed 3 FG's. FG kicking SO underrated in the college game. For some reason college coaches just figure, ah fk it, we don't need to find a kicker.
-
Yeah, that's what they do.
Are you on drugs today?
-
I'll never understand Brohm or Fleck trying those kicks in the 4th when they did. Yes, Minnesota hit it, impressively so, but was all risk, scant benefit in a 4 pt game when a first ends it. The Brohm kick was inexplicable.
Cincy finished though. Good win, hopeful this spares us a ND playoff appearance
-
Btw, wider hashes do not help the college kicker. Sure, they can get a spot on 3rd down inside hashes but NFL kickers would not improve their kicking with wide hashes.
-
It's Alabama & Georgia and then everybody else this season.
-
Yeah, that's what they do.
Are you on drugs today?
Obvious hyperbole.
And no, I wish I was on drugs!
It just bottles the mind why college coaches can't find good kickers. They are harder to find for college coaches than good QB's.
-
Not surprised Oregon is having so many problems getting motivated against a Stanford team who's strong along the lines but limited elsewhere. 17-17 early in the 4th. Cristobal is Manny Diaz with a lighter conference schedule and a roster with more potential NFL draft picks.
-
Nice of Stanford to run a throwback offense to match their uniforms
-
Stanford hitting OT thanks to a million Oregon penalties

Touchdown Tree!
-
Down go the Ducks
-
Jaquez Yant, #0. What a name. Great looking run.
-
Stanford hitting OT thanks to a million Oregon penalties
In fairness, they had like 6 false starts themselves. Anthony Brown simply can't throw the ball in obvious passing downs.
-
WKU is going to move the ball between the 20s, you hold them to field goals, like that, you'll probably be okay
-
Nebraska option game looking sharp, NW really off assignment. Good thing as Martinez is still very inaccurate. That 70yd pass was awful, great play by wr.
-
You get back to back three and outs attacking the quarterback, and immediately start dropping eight into coverage. This is about to go from 21-3 to 21-17 in a hurry

Bowling Green lost to Kent.
OSU2 looking good against Baylor.

Florida in the weeds against Kentucky

MSU might score more points tonight than they did all of last season.

National champion Kentucky

Down go the Gators.
4 top 10 teams shit the bed today.

Throwback night in Lincoln. Option hasn't looked this good in years.

OSU2-Baylor is interesting, all of a sudden.

That made my day.
We had five top 12 teams lose this weekend? I know some were perforce.
Any time UF loses it's good, but not as good as when EMU loses.
Well, maybe as good. I'm beginning to think UGA might be for real.
-
Mdot head exploding with play by Bo Nix

Nebraska only punt tonight... 84 yards

Clemson escapes BC with fumble recovery in the waning seconds.

OSU2 beat Baylor.
OSU3 is beating UDub in the second half.

MSU might score more points tonight than they did all of last season.
Just kidding. Second straight week the offense went into a shell in the second half

Throwback night in Lincoln. Option hasn't looked this good in years.
I'd pay too dollar to watch '95 Nebraska vs '95 Northwestern

Northern Illinois upended Cincydawg's Eastern Michigan Eagles.
Rocky Lombardi now 2-1 in Washtenaw County
-
I like SEC after dark.
-
This was almost an "Upset Saturday" in a sense that a lot of top 12 teams lost, that will shake up the rankings (not that they matter as I can discern).
And no, I don't think UGA should vault Bama until they beat them, or Bama loses. Football is funny, Florida almost ties Bama and then loses to Kentucky, who is undefeated but with some close rather unimpressive wins. Oregon beats OSU on the road and then loses to Stanford.
It's already October.
-
Stanford's not terrible, they've beat SC.Ya but the Florida/Bama/KY comparison is interesting though Ky doesn't apear to be a slouch.CFB Saturday's -Welcome Back

Somebody on Gameday predicted the Stanford win, maybe "The Bear", I was half listening.
UK has a feisty team but would get ground down by an elite team. They also suffered two terrible PI calls that went against them, they were really bad calls IMHO.
Every conference has "that team" who can beat someone apparently above them and look mediocre the rest of the time. Maybe Michigan State is the analogous example in the B1G. How much are they like UK? Both are 5-0, both will be ranked, both have some mediocre looking wins.
College Football Betting Line Movements for Georgia Bulldogs at Auburn Tigers by Global Sportsbooks at VegasInsider.com. (https://www.vegasinsider.com/college-football/odds/global/line-movement/georgia-@-auburn.cfm/date/10-09-21)
Shows how the line moves over a short period of time, not much of course. Two TDs.

The job Stoops has done has just been unreal. Granted, it's a job where if you go 7-6 eight years in a row, you're probably a king.
-
He might be attracting more talent, and if he stays UK could replace Tenn in the SEC East.

think they kinda already have.
-
Yeah, I meant longer term. They clearly are the second or third best team in the East and have been for a few.
Good coaching job, consistently better than expected, and I expected they would be pretty good this season.

only a week late

I don't think so.
Part of the appeal of UK is that the pressure isn't there. Tennessee still has the money and crazy boosters and the talent that comes from that.
-
Many Saints of Newark. It's not that good of a film, but if you liked the show, it has some fun callbacks.
saw it, and couldn't agree with you more. I thought it was pretty bad.
-
We watched Malignant, which if you are looking for a bats*** crazy schlockfest of fun for October - fits the bill
-
only movies that I'm probably going to see now are Daniel Craig's last Bond film and the 4th Matrix movie.
-
Hey you two take your cinema talk to another thread this is for Wolverine Sausage and Boogers only

I'd rather watch the coaches' tape of a Jim Bollman OL than another shitty Matrix movie

I'm looking forward to the new Dune movie.
-

LOL. Damn. Can't say I disagree with you as the last two Matrix movies were pretty awful. Which at the time was shocking to me considering just how incredible the first movie was.
I know it'll probably (OK 99.8% chance) that it'll absolutely suck, but I'm still going to watch it. I watched The Sopranos movie, even knowing it would probably suck. Still was holding out hope. Gonna hold out hope with the Matrix 4 too. But you're right...it'll probably suck ass.
-
I'll watch Matrix 4 but it'll be at home, not the theater.
The new Top Gun, on the other hand-- definitely at the theater. :)
-
I'm looking forward to the new Dune movie.
There was a Dune movie came out in the mid 80s - the only movie i ever walked out of.Not familiar with the narrative or book(s). Just a crap flick
-

Yeah, that one was terrible. I had read the books but couldn't stand the movie. And the special effects were, well, 1980s technology. I expect the CGI will impress with the new one.
-
Dune is a weird series of books anyway. But David Lynch's 1984 interpretation of the novel, made it even weirder.
I still liked it in a cult classic kind of way, but as an avid sci-fri guy who read the entire series*, I'm hoping this new version will be less self-indulgent from a directorial perspective, and truer to the novel.
* I read all the Frank Herbert ones, anyway.
-
Sometime this week we're going to see the Ten Rings movie. Looking forward to it.
-
The first Dune book was very good, I thought, and then, downhill. The movie had a few good spots but was weird and the ending was "Hey, we ran out of money."
-

I enjoyed it. I was on the fence of seeing more Marvel movies, but liked that one and I'm now looking forward to The Eternals.
-
I don't "get" the Marvel movies, never was a comic book fan though. I've seen bits and pieces of several of them, but none completely.
Some dude has superpowers except for this one flaw that is his kryptonite or something.

I think the next couple phases of Marvel movies are going to be a lot of fun. Less formulaic, way more off-the-wall. I think the Guardians/Ragnorak/Ant-Man type of movies are going to become more prevalent. Not in plot, but in style and feeling.
At this point, if Disney/Marvel makes it, I'm going to see it, and there's a better than 80% chance I'm going to enjoy it.

Sure, that's the standard superhero/comic book trope.
It wouldn't be much fun if Superman were just completely invincible and beat the bad guys within a couple of femto-seconds every single time.
-

They've made ten of those "Ring" movies?

They aren't as bad as "Hamilton" at least, to me. I liked "Guardians of the Galaxy", was that a comic book thing? It had some humor.
-

Yes, Guardians is based on Marvel comic books. They all interact in the same universe.
(Except when they're in different universes)

I'm the same. I ended up seeing both Watchmen and V for Vendetta, though, because I actually "read" those graphic novels. But generally I never got into comic books or comic book movies.

That movie was bad. But the show was freaking great.

So, I do like one Marvel movie, I may need to reassess.

I mean, most movies are going to be a little hard to get if you only watched bits and pieces.
that said, different strokes for different folks. I personally enjoy them, but I am not going to proselytize for them. Except Ant Man. Because it’s mostly funny and about people.

speaking of Marvel movies, tell you one guy who don't like them...that Marty Scorsese guy. Wonder if he knows anything about movies?

Yeah...
“I tried, you know?” the director said when asked if he had seen Marvel’s movies. “But that’s not cinema.”
He continued: “Honestly, the closest I can think of them, as well made as they are, with actors doing the best they can under the circumstances, is theme parks. It isn’t the cinema of human beings trying to convey emotional, psychological experiences to another human being.”
Uhh, obviously. Just as McDonalds is food, but it ain't cuisine.
Thanks, Captain Obvious.

You're kind of Goombah-specific aren't you ;D. Scorsese's the best director,Puzzo's the best Author,Brando's the best actor,Godfather's the best Movie.Listen up Luigi - I call Bologna

He's not a trustable authority though. He lives in that shithole, New York, not even in a good place like South Florida.

Some interesting games upcoming, perhaps not as many high profile top ten matchups, but some. We're midseason, we should be happy. Most of us. Some of us.
Meh.
I keep waiting for my team to "lose to South Carolina at home" again.

I keep waiting for my team to have that win that shows promise of getting things on the right track for 9 win seasons and bowl games
I'm a patient man/fan

WTF did I just watch?
Apparently what gets TAMU amped up?
-
saw it, and couldn't agree with you more. I thought it was pretty bad.
Watched it tonight. I didn't hate it, but it seemed split between trying to be an interesting movie about black gangs replacing Italian gangs, and also a Sopranos sequel to explain Tony Soprano. Should have picked one of those paths.

Same. Exactly how I felt.

There is such irony in that David Chase, who hates TV and loves movies, had the best scene in the movie come in the Tony part, which you know he had little interest in.
-
Apparently what gets TAMU amped up?
Dude, this is considered not only normal behavior at TAMU, but admirable behavior. No lie.
It's a really weird place.
