Glad we beat Miami before everyone figured out they suck.
Down 27-14 at home to Virginia. Not sure Manny Diaz survives this year

the Canes suck, but they continue to yuck it up on the sideline
I enjoy the suck, not the yuck

One of the College Football pods (forget which one) discussed how sad it was that college football just punted Thursday nights to the NFL. Glad to see a decent game. This is Thursday night football. It should always be a decent (but not great) ACC or Big East game, between two lowering Top 25 teams, or an NC contender going on the road against a 7-5 type team.
They asked people to respond with their best Thursday night college football memories, and it was a trip.
I still think it should just be WVU at Virginia Tech every Thursday night. Maybe mix a Pitt at VT game in there.
-
Yeah, I get it that the NFL is always going to outdraw CFB. But I'll watch almost any college football game over an NFL game on a Thursday night.
That was a crazy INT-turned-TD reception.
And, I'm always happy to watch Miami lose.
-
I haven't flipped over to the NFL game yet, and this game isn't that good

The first half of UVA-Miami was PAINFUL to sit through, especially on the Miami side of the ball, where 4-star talents go to die. Watching Miami squander its wealth of talent with such a lifeless offense is like finding out Golden Corral tosses away 60% of their buffet food.
I mean how many times (?) is ESPN going to tease the audience with clips of Miami's glory years before cutting back to live play, which for the most part is Miami's simplistic offense getting stuffed again. What a waste. Even the color analyst was losing patience with Miami going for 4th & shorts out of the shotgun.
Miami hasn't won a conference titles since 2003, is 3-11 in bowl games and have only managed a single 10 win season since 2003. Outside of their 10-0 start and division title in 2017, the Hurricanes have been furiously irrelevant since much of their roster was born.

And their kicker is actually good. I know King was out, but they should still have enough talent to beat Virginia at home.
The style was awesome, when there was also substance. But it is all style and no substance now, and it's just sad
-
FSU v UVA the all timer for Thursday night.

Thought that was a pun directed at Coral Gables where The U is located

Some big games tomorrow of course, it strikes me as a bit unusual to have so many top ten (12 technically) pairings in an early weekend.
I think UGA wins a tough one with Arky, take the 18 points.
I think Bama brings Ole miss back to reality.
ND-Cincy, I suspect ND finds another way to pull one out.
baylor @ OkSU - no idea, both ranked.
UM @ Wisky - I'm not sold on UM yet, but would be if they win this, I don't expect it. Wisky close low scoring, 19-13.
-
Actually, the all-time Thursday nighter for CFB as a three week run in the early 2000s where there were top-10 Big East matchups between Rutgers, South Florida, and maybe West Virginia on 3 consecutive Thursday nights. Maybe 2006?
-
Yeah there were a couple of years in there where Rutgers played a key role. I remember a late season undefeated matchup, and fans pouring out of the stands and maybe tearing down goalposts, at one point.
Good times.

that video is basically Miami's entire program in a nutshell

but, wouldn't it be crazy and fun to see UGA, Bama, and the Irish go down?
well, not UGA for you personally
-
Bunch of duds tonight.
-
The Iowa offensive line is having a good night. The O-Line has been bad until tonight.

I remember that. It was basically a round-robin between RU, WVU, and USF on consecutive Thursday nights IIRC. I don't have cable so watched with my dad and brother.

Cuse beefed it

4th and 1 for the win
not a long FG for the tie

Clemson with another escape against a doormat.

Oregon just went down by 7 in 4th qtr. Plenty of time left but Cal has been dominating since late in 2nd qtr.

Ducks looked like the Ducks we have been used to seeing on that drive.

I am still awake. Oh God, why am I still awake?

It pleases me to no end that the MAC is still getting mileage out of the living legend himself, Jon "The Velociraptor" Cunningham.

Stop the presses - I didn't even notice,Kent State is in 1st place? Have to head down for a contest went there once in like '79.My brother was a student when Lambert,Pinkel,Tinker ,Poole and maybe even Saban were on the team.Haven't been following Maction this season - Go Flashes

Don James era
-
Lots of Folks thought he'd succeed Woody, even before his firing after the '78 season
-
And instead Kent State hired Todd Blackledge's father, who drove the program into a ditch that only Darrell Hazell could rectify

Just make sure that you pattern your cheering after Jon Cunningham's sideline antics, so that we can spot you on TV.

Since we can't get @medinabuckeye1 (https://www.cfb51.com/index.php?action=profile;u=1547) interested in Tuesday Night MACtion so that he can break down the various scenarios for us, we are going to have to sort out this whole convoluted mess ourselves.
So the best I can do for you at the moment is to provide you with some helpful links, and wish you the best of luck. O0

A. This batch of MAC games has been pretty fun
B. Kent feels like it is secretly in the running with eastern Michigan for worst long time FBS program. So the turnaround has been impressive
C. Kent’s coach was at Wisconsin the same time I was, and man that makes me feel old

Akron has to be in the running too?

Stanford is losing to the Utes at home 38-0 at the half.
They have 28 total yards, 0 first downs, and they've already given up over 300 yards rushing.
How in da Hell did this complete and total clown show beat the Ducks?
-
Haven't followed Stanford this year, but a little while ago the announcers said they'd had a lot of injuries, coming after their game with Oregon.
-
after watching the two games last night, 3 of the 4 teams would love to have Adrian Martinez at QB.
I guess it could always be worse
-
Just realized we get a real Thursday Night game this week. UNC at #25 Pitt. Now that feels like a traditional Thursday night game.

Georgia 59

Evidently the Huskies hit a FG as time expired and 3 lead changes in the last 2 minutes. Sounds like CFB's Game of the Year

The NIU finish was brutal for Ball State, gave up a bad drive punctuated by a post whistle personal foul that was just in the wrong side of the edge.

Wonder if Youtube will have it cached,i'd watch the whole thing in it's entirety, even knowing the final score.Love games like that just enough offense/defense

Why do we have to wait til November for some good mid tier ACC Thursday night games?
-
Tuesday Night MACtion
Eastern edged Western by 1 point.
Toledo cruised to a 12 point win over Ohio.
Miami absolutely demolished Bowling Green.
So Miami and Kent will play for the Mac East crown on the final weekend of the regular season, regardless of what happens in the Wagon Wheel game between Kent and Akron this Saturday. If Kent wins the wagon wheel, then both teams will be 5-2 going into that game. Even if they lose, they would win the head to head tie breaker with Miami if they beat them. Everyone else in the East already has at least 4 losses, so there's no oddball three way tie scenario that the Redhawks could win.
Wednesday Night Maction will feature Northern @ Buffalo, and Central @ Ball. Right now Northern is in first place at 5-1, while Central is alone in second at 4-2. Ball St at 3-3 could maybe put up a fight, but Buffalo will be fairly out manned. Northern can clinch the West with a win.
-
Buffalo is tied with the Huskies at the half.
-
overtime!
-
Northern Illinois has clinched the West, a year after going winless in 2020.
That's one helluva turnaround.
-
Maybe Bert should have grabbed that Illinois team
