Who should they start, and would it matter much?

It matters a lot on who the QB will be.
You start the QB who can best manage the offense to put points on the board which includes completing long passes down field. There's a lot more to playing QB than being able to run with the ball. Some coaches just aren't smart enough to realize that.
The coaches that are perennial winners who have been winning the National Championship have proven you don't need to have a scrambling QB. Otherwise Mac Jones would never have seen the field.
Of course what would Nick Saban know about who the best QB is? :-[
I bet old Urban Meyer when he coached at Ohio State regrets not playing Joe Burrows too. :s_laugh:

I doubt any QB on the roster would have won that game had they started, but it wasn't a blowout and they were competitive early.
