Title: Guarantano 2.0
Post by: gymvol on September 03, 2021, 10:33:09 AM
A lot of unhappy fans out there with the QB play doesn't look much different than JG. Okay with the short passes, no touch on the long ball and can't find his receivers. The one long completion for a TD won't happen against SEC defenders.

That run game won't carry TN through the SEC schedule teams will stack the box and make TN throw it.

If that's the best QB TN has then it ain't gonna be any better than it's been for years.

Yeah he probably won’t spot the opponent 2 TDs every game like Gitmo but looking like another season of 12-14 play scoring drives …….. just a low probability proposition to beat anyone good that way

It wasn't good.  That's for sure.

Not much touch on the long passes for sure.

What happened to Harrison Bailey? He is 3rd string?

Joe Milton may have had first game jitters but 11 of 23 for 130 or so yards is pathetic considering he had 4 to 7 seconds to throw the ball most of the game. And, he rushed for 44 yards too. He's built like Tarzan but runs like Cinderella. I've never seen such a big guy run so timid.

I think he followed the game plan the 1st qtr and then he wanted to show off his arm and the game got away from him. Once he lost his rhythm, he didn't have the discipline to recover. Mostly what Milton showed me is that he's not a great runner, he has a strong arm, his long ball is horrible, no touch on the short ball, no pocket clock, stares down his primary, throws the ball too late, and he doesn't have what it takes between the ears to be an elite SEC QB.

That TD in the 4th would've likely been intercepted if we were playing a quality team.

So far, I'm not impressed but I also understand that this is a new system and we might not have all of the pieces of the puzzle to run Heupel's system. I'm going to wait and see but so far I'm not planning to go to a game this year and watch this garbage.
