Probably catch a Gator home game, or maybe even go to the WLOCP.
Maybe catch a Florida bowl game. Perhaps UW will be in one. That would be great.
I'll be in Norman, OK for the Husker game on Sept 18thNow there is rivalry renewed. Good luck.
Sept 11: Iowa @ Iowa St – gotten to know a few Iowa fans who’ve invited me to Ames; wondering what the pregame/halftime affairs will do to commemorate the 20th anniversary of September 11Unfortunately, the court system has reopened, and I am so busy I probably won't make it to a game. But, looks to be a very fun fall schedule for you! I expect to read three reports.
Sept 25: Colorado @ Arizona State – last year’s chance to watch Colorado (@ Arizona) fell through, which is notable, because they’re the last Pac 12 team I haven’t watched in-person
Oct 9: Georgia @ Auburn – not sure how many more years I can keep pulling off an Auburn trip, but here goes
Our TVs are so good and couches so comfortable and beer in the fridge so convenient and cheap, ....All true, but for me it's as much or more-- kids' sports games and traveling to tournaments and marching band and whatever else is going on.
Costco of course puts their TVs up front and center, good marketing. And I'm astonished how good they are, even the lesser quality ones not of the newest type. I think mine is a 65" 1K TV and it is amazing really. I look at the new 80 inchers and imagine it on my wall, maybe not the QLED version or whatever, but some almost as good version. As I always highlight, half the marketing there is showing you content that is SO much better than nearly anything you'll ever watch. It's basically uncompressed and optimized to look amazing.

Anything you watch broadcast/cable/satellite/IPTV/streaming will be EXTREMELY compressed compared to that and won't look anywhere near as good.
If you watch a bunch of 4K HDR movies that you've purchased on physical media, they should look outstanding. But literally everything else will be too compressed to make use of the technology in these TVs.
Over the air ATSC3.0 is on its way and already available in some areas.I'd consider buying a new TV or at least some sort of external tuner box for that.
I''m not sure what broadcast TV I am interested in watching right now.Not much right now, but lots of college football on ABC and Fox in the Fall. And, NBC too I guess, if that's your thing.
Sign of the times that a thread on going to football games turns into which TV allows the best game watching experience at home.Sounds like you need to move to Coastal Florida, where everything is better! :)
Not only does "going out" cost so much more these days (bar tabs, parking fees, etc) but the general experience of leaving your home has gone downhill. Panhandlers walking right up to your car at every red light, angrier than ever customer/fan behavior, endless road construction, long lines and large crowds most everywhere you go (speaking for Southern California).
I plan to be in the bricktown area in OKC for happy hour Friday afternoonYou coming up to Minneapolis on October 16?
I plan to be in the bricktown area in OKC for happy hour Friday afternoonI'll try to meet you there if Happy Hour lasts enough hours.
Gotta meet Fearless one of these days.Moths to a flame
it would last longer if I wasn't near 60 years old and it wasn't an 11am kickoffBe no problem if was T-Off
not a long drive for youWe're doing the full weekend at TX-OU this year, including the Cowboys game on Sunday afternoon. That's about all my football travel budget can take this season.
bring the airstream
My 66-year-old ass could probably make it by 6:00.that should give us plenty of time
it's not in the plan at this timeProbably not. Got stuff going on here in MSP.
first and foremost, I don't need to drive that far to see the Huskers take a beat down
2nd, my October is getting pretty busy. Oct 1st and 2nd, 40th high school reunion, 8th and 9th the annual Sharkwater Tailgate
are you coming to drink sharkwater?
Work travel is keeping me in Portland leading into to Labor Day weekend. Will time my departure with heading through Eugene to catch the Oregon Ducks home opener Vs Fresno State. Tickets cheaper than expected.
Welp, looks like Autzen Stadium will want to see more than just my ticket at the gates:That's going to be the case at Memorial Stadium in Norman as well.

I'll be at Kyle Field this weekend with some long time friends and my younger brother. They haven't been before. My 3rd trip, the previous two were outstanding games. Ja'mar Toombs dominated one and Biily Callahan probably had his best win in the other.. Not so sure this weekend's tilt w Bama will be that close.Very fun place to catch a game. And you can get some solid eats the night before in Houston.
Catching the White Sox and Stros on Friday.
The Big Ten Conference announced Monday afternoon that Nebraska's road game at Minnesota on Saturday, Oct. 16, will kick off at 11 AM (CT). The game will be televised nationally on ESPN2.Every Gopher game save Wisconsin will probably be a morning game, because this conference is still the Big 2 and Little 12 and Michigan-Ohio State must be protected at all costs.
Probably ends my chances of visiting the Gophers this season
Sharkwater tailgate party in Lincoln this Saturday. And attending the Purdue and Ohio St. games in Lincoln on Oct 30th and Nov 6th respectively
But, Michigan-Ohio State is always played in the first timeslot, noon eastern/11 AM central.Minnesota-Wisconsin is on the same day as Mich-Ohio State, hence the 2:30 start for all other games in the league that day and my comment about protecting M-tOSU at all costs.
Have fun, Fearless.you know I will and I also know you will enjoy your paper cups of beer at the fair
If I weren't going to be in Dallas at the Cotton Bowl... :)

you know I will and I also know you will enjoy your paper cups of beer at the fair
I'll be able to watch ,dropped cable but can pick up the local affiliate with the OTA Antennaand rooting like hell for the team in Crimson!!!!
Even bad beer tastes great coming from a wax paper cup at the State Fair of Texas, on the second Saturday of October.Billy C. referred to them as hillbillys or rednecks
Only thing that can make it taste any better, is a Texas win over the toothless hordes from the north.
Billy C. referred to them as hillbillys or rednecksWell of course they do. The designation of roughneck (or ruffneck) is a bit feared and somewhat respected, in oil country. Rather than a derogatory term for a rural, country-type person.
they prefer the term ruffneck
such as the preference of Sooner to land thieveI sure hope they're thinking they don't...
do the Sooners have a game this weekend?
A welcoming weekend approaching for those of you busy attending full stadiums this weekend – great to see it!
Meanwhile, will fly early tomorrow into Atlanta and coast down I-85 for Saturday’s Georgia-Auburn game. Planning to hit the interstate Waffle House in La Grange GA as my welcoming back to the South. The owner has overseen this particular location since the late-80s. At times through the 90s her location recorded the company’s busiest months. This until Waffle House added a new location at the next exit before I-85 crosses into Alabama. Now going on six or seven years of making my annual Auburn trip, the owner’s husband, who oversees the afternoon orders, now recognizes me every time. Good folk, devoted Dawg fans, they add way too much sugar too my coffee order and are always up for talking football.
I'll bet I can get a 40 yard line ticket to the Hawkeye game in the lower for $50Payoff for a skins game?
maybe less
Probably not walkable though.not from my place, but I'll be at the daughter's for thanksgiving on Thursday.
A problem is, for me and many, our TVs now are so good and the food is in the fridge and the sofa is nice and the room is warm. I was musing about the advantage of being at the game and think there isn't one except for tailgating in a good group etc. After staring at screens from the sofa with good food at the ready for the previous 18 months due to COVID, everyone I know that regularly goes to games was chomping at the bit to be back in the stadium.

I was musing about the advantage of being at the game and think there isn't one except for tailgating in a good group etc.I may very easily walk 4 blocks from the tailgate to the warm bar where my daughter will be bar tending with the nice bar stool and good TV, instead of walking a mile to the stadium to sit on the hard bench with no back.
the $25 that would be spent on a game ticket could go towards the good fatherly discounted draws from the tapIOWA,it's heaven,I'm getting thirsty

I was musing about the advantage of being at the game and think there isn't one except for tailgating in a good group etc.Yeah, but even being the misanthrope that I am, there's something about attending a game in person that can't be duplicated. The roar of the crowd, tens of thousands of people all cheering in unison.
Bwarb - Left out Freak Showthat's the Devil's Gap brew, got some Jalapeno juice in it.
FF can't read that bottle what is it?
Supply increasing for CFP final. Im going to go w a friend, we're having a good time debating ticket buying strategy. For the final in Indy, it's all going to come down to whether or not Michigan wins their semifinal.
For the final in Indy, it's all going to come down to whether or not Michigan wins their semifinal. We can laugh, but a Cincy final won't help my cause either.
perhaps Bama won't be motivated because... CincyOnly if Bama had lost a chance to meet it's season goals the game before.
Lemme know if you're coming, I'm happy to provide recs for food/entertainment.
Next season I'm definitely planning to add a Longhorns home game to the rotation. It'll give me reason to visit Austin, a city where I had a fantastic time for the F1 Races in October.
