Former NU linebacker Tim McGarigle ('02-'05) is a new assistant coach on Fitz's staff
- he's filling in the vacancy left by just-retired Jerry Brown but his official role hasn't been specified yet

I miss reading nuwildcat (https://www.cfb51.com/index.php?action=profile;u=28)'s offseason reports which historically were frequent and informative.
So here is NU's update. Thorson's rehab is on schedule, but still no projection whether he will play in 2018.

They waited about 3-weeks to do ACL surgery; he was injured Dec. 29. I can't quite figure out the delay since recovery from ACL is 9-12 months, and NU's football season starts 8/30/2018 against Purdue. Seems unlikely he could practice for the Purdue game.

Seems like athletes these days are recovering faster from those than prior days. Modern medicine and therapy works wonders. It wouldn't surprise me if he's ready for Camp Kenosha in early August.

I think I have read 6-months from ACL surgery previously. But, when studying Thorson, the articles said 9-12 mos. Hope he doesn't sit out a year and transfer to Wisconsin ;0

Sounds like Purdue or Northwestern are the favorites for Clemson transfer QB Hunter Johnson. He was a 4* recruit in the 2015 class, but seemingly lost out to 2017 recruit Trevor Lawrence to back up Kelly Bryant.
-
Fitzgerald in March said he expects Thorson to be back for most of the season. And as of March 13, he was throwing.
I think recovery is impossible to predict, and conservative decision-making concerning inserting one into a D-I football lineup after this surgery on nine months recovery is best.

Picked the Cats, really good get for Fitz

Was just coming to post this. Very good recruit for NU to get their hands on.

@ELA (https://www.cfb51.com/index.php?action=profile;u=55) , you can merge my other thread with this if you want.

Damn. I can't imagine how happy he'd be to see his team this season. I'd bet a paycheck he'd be headed to Indy for this one too.

This reminds of our friends, which is good, and also of our own mortality, which is good as well. Maybe we should do a tontine.
