Going into this year, OU had 7 national championships and 5 Heisman winners.
Never though has OU won the NC and a Heisman the same year.
A few have done it recently as the article shows. But it’s unlikely.
Will Baker fall prey to the Heisman curse or overcome it?
-
Man, that is some tough curse.
-
Besides, let's just face it - Alabama's gonna win it all anyway. Everybody fears it, everybody knows it. The way to keep Bama out was to keep them out of the final 4. No such luck, and so here we go again.
-
again I hope its not an all sec champ game
-
has it ever been?
-
yup, Husker heisman winners
Rogers, national champs in 70 & 71, heisman in 1972
Rozier, failed 2-point conversion with Rogers on the sideline, out with an injury on the final drive
Crouch, blasted in the Rose by an NFL Miami team
5 MNC, 3 hypesmans - not in the same season

To be fair, I felt that way last year and actually turned OFF the MNC game not long after the first half ended thinking Bama had it in hand. It didn't help that it felt like a repeat of the year before, so I think I was already waning in interest in general, but upon hearing the final outcome the next day I was rather disappointed in myself that I didn't just watch the whole thing anyway without holding prior expectations of Bama's greatness.

i'm blaming you, then.
as for bama winning it all this year, not impossible, but man are we hurting on injuries. just picked up ANOTHER lb injury (that's 7 this year, for those counting) in practice and the replacement safety got hurt as well (though he should play).
i know everyone is dealing with some kind of injuries, but i've never seen 1 position group be so devastated like this one.
i think we can win, but i'm not really going in expecting it. it'd be hard enough with a fully healthy team, but like this it's, imo, unlikely.

hopefully, Bama can keep the remaining LBs out of a drug treatment program until after the playoff

So, umm, yeah. Dadgummit.
